What a terrible and inarticulate thing to say. I suppose it's saying that gender dysphoria is a made up thing that "men" are doing to marginalize women and that trans rights somehow detracts from womens rights. In reality, all marginalized people's need to stand together. And honestly, you'll never find a trans person that would advocate against womens rights. From equal pay to reproductive rights, we're an ally, not an obstacle. Try to seriously consider what you might feel like if you woke up tomorrow and you were physically a different gender, thats the feeling trans people live through til they transition. I think the quote is misinformed and pretends like trans people want anything other than the dignity of being respectfully recognized as a part of society. I'm sorry if you feel like anti trans discrimination practices in the workplace etc hinder you somehow. I think if you want to go ahead and identify as a "transgender woman" then you go ahead and request to be in a separate cell block with other transgender women. I am fine with that policy but sending biological men into a women's prison is outrageous and vice versa.

DO NOT PUT THESE MEN IN WOMENS PRISONS. The amount of women who are incarcerated who have been physically, sexually and mentally abused by men is unfortunately a catastrophic number and putting any man (even one in a dress with some lipstick) in their prison cell with them could be the most traumatizing thing you could possibly do.

I'm sorry. While I can certainly empathize with these inmates, my fear for the women they'd be housed with completely overshadows that empathy. This is too ripe for abuse by any predator. Imagine how many "cis het" men will be transwomen strictly to be housed with women. No, we have a right to be safe as well.
And the fact that in recent years over 70% or trans women are primarily attracted to women when historically trans women where only attracted to men, is telling.

If a trans person has bottom surgery, then, by all means, they are legally identified as the gender they chose. That's fine for law but for me, and many other m&w, for our personal intimacy requirements, we have the right to reject a partner for that reason. Uncomfortable is a bit of an understatement. Not everyone in prison is guilty of seriously hurting another person. Some people in prison truly do deserve horrible treatment, but you cant clump them all in that category. You can go to prison for defending yourself sometimes. Life isn't as simple as prisoner = bad. However, I don't believe that two people who can create a baby should be doing time together.

No that is not purpose of prison. It is every citizens right to be not be subjected to cruel and unusual punishment. The punishment is that you lose your freedom. So long as you act accordingly in the prison then you have rights to a certain standard of life no matter what they've done. The purpose of prison is to rehabilitate and if someone can't be rehabilitated to kept them away from society or put down. That being said I don't think trans prisoners should be in their with the actual female prisoners.

Females feel assaulted and I understand the fact that some people abuse and toss the transgender word around as if they understood it or understood what being transgender means as well as the mess transwomen have to endure. I truly feel it's more acceptable for transmen to be accepted than transwomen.
I truly feel that the goal is not to erase biological women but some if not many want to be in that same crows and honestly if someone doesn't want you anywhere near them then you stay away. You don't waste your time engaging these females who somehow still feel oppressed. The women before you who fought for womens rights can explain to you what being oppressed is like. Transwomen need to fight for their own rehabilitation facility instead of trying to be accepted by those who despise them, same goes for transmen if they ever made an argument about this which as far as I know, it has not been an issue, they don't mind being in a female prison of course.

what if the women prisoners don't want to be infected with HIV. Most of the trans in prisons have HIV and don't even know it until their tested says the census also what about rapes and fights. Male prisoners belong with other male prisoners, female prisoners belong with other female prisoners. A male cannot alter or change his DNA into a woman, that's how nature works, nature doesn't lie.

Nobody is special in prison, you're going to be incarcerated for the crime that you committed. It's not the Ritz or even a Motel 6, it's a system filled with really bad people that have done some really bad things. It's not Daycare & no one's going to hold your hand when crossing the street. The Penitentiary System provides protection for those who request it, but they are still in prison...😢😟😢

I’ve worked in both a men and women prison. The prison is broken up into units. Each inmate is assigned a risk level upon entering the prison. They don’t house high risk people with low risk people so they have the ability to house the transgender women with each other or at least with low risk inmates.

@Alex F A few months in psychotherapy is not long at all, and that's the most it takes to get a recommendation letter to give to a medical doctor. It sounds like about three months. That is not nearly enough time to delve into what may be a serious psychological issue. The surgery I'm talking about is mainly males getting breast implants, not the full reassignment surgery. And no, I'm not transgender. Why are you so upset over a concern of people's mental health? We don't need experience to be part of the discussion, just education so that we don't spread misinformation based on opinion rather than facts.

Its very complex and there is no definite answer to why transgenderism exists. If you think you know it though then go ahead and publish an article for the scientific community to see.
