Having watched a few interviews of Kilian Hennessey, it is apparent that he has a certain quality about him that makes interviewers either consciously or subconsciously flirt with him. This interview was uncomfortably weird but entertaining.
LOL @ the 💭 disagree 💭 😂 He seemed surprised and tickled by your questions, had him on the edge of his seat, it was fun! Love the more personal questions, intimate, real, genuine. You're so direct in your delivery, not many people can fully appreciate that approach, even when it's so funny & charming it its own way.
Great interview. I love the chemistry, energy, and "playfulness" between you and Kilian. I also love the interactivity of the olfactory and degustation tests...
I like how he somehow sank in his thoughts when he learn about the EUR2 "cognac" vs the USD300 moutai which is what the well connected drinks. It's like him asking how he'd survive with such strong drink when he's doing business in China.
P.s. as for the Chinese not enjoying strong scents, it could be genetic, as well as a microbiome thing. Sense of smell, and the sense of taste use completely different receptors, although they work together. Maybe genetically for some reason, the Chinese are super-smellers. And your microbiome would def be different from the French/Europeans who eat a lot of cheese & bread for instance, and Asians consume more herbs, spices, roots, fermented vegetables as opposed to dairy etc. I read people like scents close to their own natural smell, so if your body odour is different, because your microbiome is different, seems unlikely the Chinese will, as a culture, take to strong scents any time soon.
