Did I Just Eat the Best Sandwich...in Sanur, Bali?!

  • When you think of must-try foods in Bali, a Vietnamese banh mi sandwich probably isn't the first thing that comes to mind. But tucked away on the unassuming backstreets of Sanur lies Me Vui, a hole-in-the-wall Vietnamese restaurant serving up some of the most incredible banh mi I've ever tasted...and quite possibly the best on the entire island!

Yeah I’ve been at night when it’s packed but couldn’t even get a spot out the back. They put you in the overflow room on the side (in the corridor on the way to the pool area. Will have to aim for a poolside table next time. Thanks for the tip!

Look I’m not going to go out in a limb and say what I think is best because I haven’t done enough research to get to that point yet. I generally go to a cheapy near my house on the other side of the bypass which is good enough. Susan recommends The Nest down at Pantai Duyung and a friend of mine swears by Peni Weni on Jalan Sudamala as a fantastic salon (who also do massages).
Massages is something I want to do a video on, but I’m struggling with how on earth I’m going to do it!

@@SanurDiaries awesome thanks. Much appreciated:) there’s so many places it’s hard to figure out which ones to book. When you’re only staying a few days it’s good to ask a local.

Hi Adam, I googled Vietnamese restaurants 2 days ago and I stopped by MeVui for a browse at early lunchtime and they were not busy and I checked menu and then went around the corner to Saigon. Food was very good at Saigon and the Chicken Pho and the prawn spring rolls were great. Understandably why they get rated highly. I fly out tonight, but we are coming back in a month and staying on Sudamala next time and will definitely be going to MeVui for that Sharing Plate. Looked wonderfull and the price is excellent. Cheers again for your videos

I keep hearing it mate... Saigon is clearly a brilliant place as well as people keep recommending it. I do need to get across there soon.
I think Me Vui is excellent and would be hard to beat, but having said that, Saigon may very well be a similar excellent standard. If that's true, lucky us for having that sort of fantastic competition in Sanur. You're never really going to be disappointed with either of them.

We went for dinner last night and busy. Had the sharing platter, pho and goi viet nam. Was absolutely delicious and we both loved the platter and then our mains. I liked it better than Saigon and I has Pho at both to compare. The goi viet nam is a slightly spicy salad amd very refreshing

Great vid as always mate. Hate to break it to you tho, Vietnam is just as hot and humid as bali.😂
Pho and other noodle soups can make you bust a sweat which in turn cools you down.
    Keep up the rad vids

Thanks mate. Always a tough choice though. Sweating buckets because you just ate a big spicy bowl of pho or an iced coffee 🤣 Probably best to have both!

Have you got any suggestions for cafes etc near karang beach? Thank you

    • @SanurDiaries
      @SanurDiaries  2 месяца назад +1

At the beach itself, there isn’t much in the way of cafes. Back on the main road that is right in the thick of things, so Lilian is a fave of mine. Depends on how far you’re happy to walk. But within 1km you can access most things.

@jacquelinedella-santa2451 it’s called Lilian n’ coffee. Next door is bread basket that is more like a bakery that does salads etc. It’s very popular. Lilian is smaller, but they have some delish cakes.

The menu should explain how to eat these dishes 😂.
Coffee should’ve had a large glass of ice with it and then you pour all the coffee over the ice. This is my favourite coffee of all time

Not gonna piss on ya bonfire mate that food looked superb the only things you did wrong was not putting some of the noodles on a lettuce leaf along with some of the other selection of veggies and herbs then adding one of the meats on it after taking off the stick and wrapping it up and then you eat it after dipping in the sauce , oh and you should have poured the coffee into the tall glass with all the ice 🙃

Have been to Hanoi twice and enjoyed it. Usually visit Saigon in Sudamala for banh mie.....not after that meatball report! The sharing platter is so right for hubby and I......not big lunch eaters. Will think of you when we give it a go in 5 weeks. Many thx as always Adam.

My pleasure! I’ve had quite a few people from the channel and friends recommend Saigon on Sudamala, but I still haven’t gotten around to trying it yet. I will definitely have to as anything with that many recommendations must be good! It’s great to have choices!
