  • PADI Rescue Diver Course Skills Video covers most skills so you can get your PADI Rescue Diver certification easily. The PADI Rescue Diver Course Skills in this video are slowly demonstrated by PADI Platinum Course Director Marcel van den Berg.
    Not only can use this PADI Rescue Diver Course Skills video for your PADI Rescue Diver Certification, but you can also use this video for the PADI Divemaster Course and PADI IDC Course.
    Chapters and Timestamps for easy navigation:
    00:00 Intro
    00:07 PADI Rescue Diver Exercise 2 - Panic Diver Around Approach
    01:04 PADI Rescue Diver Exercise 2 - Panic Diver Underwater Approach
    02:14 PADI Rescue Diver Exercise 2 - Panic Diver Quick Reverse
    02:40 PADI Rescue Diver Exercise 2 - Panic Diver Releases
    03:11 PADI Rescue Diver Exercise 4 - Overexerted Diver
    04:02 PADI Rescue Diver Exercise 4.2 - Uncontrolled Ascent Diving
    05:04 PADI Rescue Diver Exercise 4 - Running Out of Air Scuba Diving
    06:34 PADI Rescue Diver Exercise 6 - Unresponsive Diver Underwater
    During your PADI Rescue Diver Course it is important to understand is that there are many different ways to perform these Rescue skills. This Rescue Diver course video show you one way to master the skills.
    These are the PADI objectives from the PADI Instructor Manual:
    Rescue Exercise 2 - Panicked Diver
    Rescue a panicked (irrational) diver, demonstrating:
    • Approach and Evaluation
    • Making Contact
    • Releases
    • Approach with a quick reverse to stay out of a panicked diver’s grasp
    Rescue Exercise 4 - Distressed Diver Underwater
    1. Correctly identify and respond to a diver simulating overexertion underwater.
    2. Correctly identify and respond to a panicked diver making an uncontrolled ascent.
    3. Correctly identify and provide air to, via an alternate air source, a diver simulating an out-of-air emergency, and make a controlled air-sharing ascent.
    Rescue Exercise 6 - Surfacing the Unresponsive Diver
    1. Use controlled positive buoyancy as an aid to ascent.
    2. Bring an unresponsive diver to the surface using buoyancy control of either the unresponsive diver or the rescuer.
    PADI Platinum Course Director Marcel van den Berg shows how to conduct some of the PADI Rescue Diver Course Skills that you can get on your PADI Rescue Diver Course, PADI Divemaster Course, PADI IDC Course and/or PADI Instructor Examination IE.
    Many PADI IDC candidates struggle with the Rescue Diver Course skills during the IDC and IE for a few reasons:
    1. They might have only practiced the rescue skills once in their PADI Rescue Diver Course.
    2. Their Rescue Diver Course was taught a long time ago.
    3. Their Rescue Diving Instructor didn't teach all the skills (Breaking PADI Standards).
    4. The PADI Dive Instructor taught the Rescue Diver Course skills in a very different way.
    5. During their PADI Divemaster Course they have not assisted a PADI Rescue Diver Course or maybe only 1 time.

    At 5:20 it's a good idea to give the octopus while gently pushing the purge button to clear all the water from the regulator. Or else the panicked diver will breath lots of water. But don't push too hard....

    What if the victim's weights are non-ditchable, ie. P-weights bolted on his/her backplate bcd?
    And what your weights as rescuer is also fixed permanently on your bcd (backplate)?

    • @MarcelVanDenBerg1
      @MarcelVanDenBerg1  3 года назад +2

      Yes, they are much harder to ditch, especially when th buddy doen't know about them. It is very important to tell your buddy before the dive that you have non-ditchable weights.
      I am not a fan of them for this reason and believe that all weight systems should have a quick release.

    • @herphermits
      @herphermits 3 года назад

      @@MarcelVanDenBerg1 I also use some kind of custom p-weights (stainless steel rods 1kg. each), which are bolted on my backplate. But i also have 2 ditchable weight blocks inside weight pockets around me belt 500gr. each.

    at 7:00 for the unresponsive diver underwater what do you mean when you say opening the airway? what are you actually doing there?

    • @MarcelVanDenBerg1
      @MarcelVanDenBerg1  7 лет назад +1

      Hi,
      This is the PADI Skill:
      Rescue Exercise 6 - Surfacing the Unresponsive Diver
      Positive Buoyancy Ascents - Have student divers use their low pressure inflators to make themselves slightly positively buoyant, then kick upward to start the ascent. The divers need to vent excess air to control the ascent rate frequently releasing small amounts of air from the BCD so the expanding air doesn’t cause a runaway ascent. Explain that if they become too positively buoyant, they can slow the ascent by fl aring out. The divers need to breathe continuously and ascend no faster than 18 metres/60 feet per minute. The maximum depth for this exercise is 9 metres/30 feet.
      Teaching Techniques Surfacing an Unresponsive Diver - Have the rescuer find an unresponsive diver underwater. Procedures - take note of the situation without wasting time - for example, look to see if the cause of the accident is obvious, what equipment is in place and what is the unresponsive diver’s position relative to bottom (face down, fl oating off bottom, etc.); if the regulator is in the diver’s mouth, hold it in place during ascent and if not, don’t waste time trying to replace it; grasp the unresponsive diver from behind or by the tank valve and maintain head in a normal position (But even better to Open the airway, because the unresponsive diver might still be breathing); establish slight positive buoyancy (unresponsive diver or rescuer) and control the ascent as practiced. Advise divers that if the rescuer loses control of the ascent - abort the exercise, establish control and try again. On reaching the surface, have the rescuer turn the unresponsive diver face up, establish positive buoyancy and call for help.

      This video shows different methods, depending on the situation. But thanks for the advice! :)

      Hi Maitreya, Thank you for your comment. To turn off the music you can press the mute button on your keyboard, on youtube or you can google how to turn off music on RUclips Videos.
      Have a great day buddy!

    The other skill in this video is not appropriate because always doing rescue infront of the panicked diver always remember when you are handling rescue underwater or in the surface is always at the back of the panicked diver never in the front...👊👊👊
