the nhl is a microcosm of the world and there's people like the lehners out there. it's especially heinous because they are millionaires and could have a good life without living so far above their means.
Just to put it into context, since filing for personal bankruptcy last year, Robin has spent as much money on leisure as most people earn during a lifetime. And then he fails to report to camp, enabling his club to terminate the contract that could've been used to pay off his debts. This guy is seriously off the rails, in case the shady snake farm saga didn't tip anyone off.
Good on you for not being a jerk about it. Everyone has problems regardless of their income and the public never knows the full story. Its just unfortunate for everyone.
The nhl’s decision was gross, but I understand the Carey Price situation, in Montreal. People with addiction, mental and emotional issues are usually fired from their jobs and nobody cares. Freezing assets isn’t unheard of because it’s a bankruptcy court, but what greedy pigs!!🐽
This was always the big fear of Vegas as a sports town. We've already seen the Raiders do their thing, with Henry Ruggs ( and on a somewhat adjacent incident, Marshawn Lynch). It was only a matter of time before someone with the right personality in the wrong place slipped up again, and this time it just happens to be Robin Lehner. Unfortunately, I think he will be FAR from the last person connected to professional sports to get caught up in this web. If it's not the athletes, it's their family members. The only thing we need to complete the hat trick is someone betting on their own team/throwing games. And I'm not talking just players: referees are totally suspect now, in every sport, as well. I'm not making light of this, because I agree: All these situations suck. But if there's one true cliche about Vegas that all the youngsters should heed: The House ALWAYS wins.
I really believe that all professional sports league should mandate some sort of financial management services to players. Not controlling all their money, but have players set-up some sort of pension plan that kicks in right after a player retires, but before the league retirement package kicks in. Many players were literally teens that suddenly had huge windfalls of millions of dollars... and they believe it will never end, but it ultimately does. They regularly end up bankrupt, broke, etc... because they're careless, were swindled, scammed, etc.
much love for robin lehner throughout good career. hope he is able to be happy and genuinely get better. i don’t feel bad for him in any way because actions have consequences and many other people with his ailments would kill to be in his position. he still deserves to find peace.
Dubai shell companies are a classic way to avoid taxes and hide assets. It’s a perfectly legal way to do this. He really should have just paid his bills.
How does he get his contract money if he doesn't show up to camp? Isn't that a violation of your contract? Also maybe having a gambling addict play for Los Vegas is a bad idea.

Proof that not everybody is prepared for getting and staying rich. Money can be dangerous, if you are not ready to handle it properly.

Zero sympathy, he’s maliciously deceiving others. He should be brought up on charges
100%

Good for him! he is doing what the banks do to all of us.
