This makes me think about all the amicable breakups ive had. My exes in those cases sat me down, explained their legitimate reasons for not continuing the relationship, and while hurt, i understood, and we agreed to respectfully go our separate ways. Having had an ex try to pull the "Start being cold, distant and a little dismissive in the hopes of pushing me to be the one to break it off" thing, it's way more hurtful than just being told things aren't working. It's like seeing a part of your life, a person you trust and care for, change and you start to worry there's something you did, or they need some sort of help they don't seem to be able to find in you. The really sad thing is that same ex tried to use me, multiple times, since then when she was herself feeling low, until I had to outright tell her I had completely lost interest in her well being and gained nothing in rekindling any sort of friendship.

Rather, the state has something know as Judicial Recognition of a Relationship as a Marriage, where you can ask the court to recognize your relationship as a marriage even though you never had a marriage ceremony. I legitimately could not finish watching this thing. I got to the part where he said "For about a month, you were just... so mean, like bordering cruel." and she tried to explain it away as 'subconsciously I was pushing you away.' In the next sentence she basically admits that she was trying to get him to break up with her, so it wouldn't be "her fault". That's literally all you need to hear. She's done with him, but she doesn't want to be viewed as a callous bitch that just tosses aside someone who cares for them a lot because she got bored. She wanted to be dumped so she could paint herself as a victim and when that didn't work, she took the next best thing. A recorded "mutual break-up" where she basically gaslights him into absolving her of all blame.

It doesn't happen. Your brain doesn't have an on/off switch for feelings. You don't wake up suddenly hating your friends or hobbies either.
There's always some build up, could be lots of little things over a long time that you don't want to notice or even obvious issues that you might be in denial of.

They don't wake up one day no longer loving you. They lie and hide their true feelings and make you believe everything is fine and just do things behind your back until they know what they want, and then they hope you'll realise they've been lying without holding them responsible for those lies and end it with them so they don't have to be the "bad guy." And there's no way to know they're even like that until it happens, which is the best way to waste 20 years of your life and have nothing to show for it. People suck.
