Well atleast in winter one do use it butt just to keep ones window from misting up.

If the drum fan blades are handed, can you remove the drum and turn it the other way round?

No as the back of the fan would block the air flow

I am afraid that I do not get this thing about putting checker plated all over the place on land rovers to me they look horrible and painting them black is even worse.
