The man you meet is a time traveler, WHY he needed the carvings is never explained but the language and slang he's useing is from the late 30s/early 40s
Maybe that 40s slang was inappropriately inserted into the western films of the 50s and sixties by the guys that lived through those decades then wrote the cowboy flicks so time travelers use the films as a reference which does gold pan out.
Unless your trying to finish all locations u can once the cut scene stops u can just save the game reload the game and go back in the house and the watch is on the table no rock carvings needed
@adziup yes thus I said in my post unless your trying to find all locations for whatever reasons for those of us not worried about the 100% easier way of getting item and moving on
@@waynerunyon9843 I'm with you! Crawling along rock cliffs is not my idea of fun; the Beaver tooth trinket is easy to get, and lastly gun oil is cheap.
Yeah, that's how I realized you didn't need to finish the carvings to get the compass. But, for 100% completion, you obviously need them all. The first time I did it was on accident. 2nd time, I tried to go back in, and the door was locked and had to check Google. You just save and reload, and it's unlocked when you load back in.
Actually you just walk out of the house, turn around and walk right back in. One creepy thing about the whole time traveling creepy thing is the mother and baby Sinclair are gone, like they were never there.
I was able to just walk into that cabin after talking to Sinclair and get than compass and the ravenclaw and I haven’t even found 5 of the carvings yet.
You don't have to find any carvings. After speaking to him, I just camp for 24 hours nearby, then go back & the door should be unlocked. Just go inside, and the watch is on the table. It worked when i did it.
I loved this, but it left me wanting more answers. Obviously the man is the baby and he traveled from the 1930’s as that was the lingo in that era. A lot of travel for this though but it generates a cool cutscene
My favorite game ever , and to tell the truth , I don’t know how anyone found all of these or any of the collections in this game , I couldn’t find all of them on any of the collection stories , but I play this game for a couple hours every weekend after work. Because I’m always finding new things or dialogue or something. 👍👍👍✌️✌️✌️
Im just here to say I love the name of your channel. 😂😂😂😂. Contents great too. Been watching a lot of your videos. Why are we all playing RD2 again? Why is it still better than anything thats come out in years? 🤷♂️
It is a nice to have, not a must have. Early on, when cash might be tight, you oil your weapons, after a certain cashflow is established, I often do it at a gunsmith.
@@lumbagoRDR2 I had never done the carvings before but I'd met the guy before, the way the guy talks should have been a dead giveaway he was from the future as he was talking like someone from the mid 1930's. Thanks for the locations I'd have not spotted a lot of them without this guide.
I ended up getting 140/70-18 for the back and 110/80-18 for the front of my Mr. Clean. I definitely need to just use more powerful compressor to get my tires to seat. My little Ryobi battery operated compressor ain't doing it. I've been bouncing them and all types of shit and there's like 2, 8-inch lengths that won't seat.
Video does not show...but you must take a photograph of each carving as well as investigating for a journal entry, or you will not be able to complete.
You really posted this a month ago when the game’s been out 5 years. My boy, if you know where the gold bars are in this game you can buy as many gun oil as you want.
Thats all you get for what is supposedly supposed to be a mission where you RANDOMLY find all those carvings by yourself without relying on people on the internet to find the locations???? What a ripoff, NO THANKS!

You dont need to collect all the carvings. Just enter once again to the house after sleeping - its open.

lol no wonder Arthur couldn't understand him
The pictures all come together into one. Maybe it explains how he can return to his time?

There’s a tag on the baby’s blanket and it has the name of a toy shop in Saint Denis
Is this something I need to do? I missed this
@@hdtehsrhsv1973 no it is evidence that he is a fake and doesn't want to give money
I got the compass many days after the first encounter. I didn't recognize the house and it was open so I just walked in and grabbed the compass.

Thanks for the video. I found three carvings by just wandering around, may have taken years to find the rest.
Same

@@adziupties DID exist in 1899 😂
This video deserves way more likes, Im on my 3rd play through and never finished this quest before. Cheers.

besides the twist of finding out he is a time traveller, the reward wasn't worth all that running around
Does that mean time travel was also part of RDR2?
Yes

No need to wait one day. You can go in back as soon as the cut scene ends
After meeting him just wait a day save outside the house load the game and come back and the door can be opened and the compass will be on the table.
Thanks for showing me the ending of this at the cabin; I wasn't planning on collecting these carvings...a lot of work for a small return.
Glad I could help!
You didn't have to wait 1 in game day to get the compass. It was already inside when I went back in after the cut scene
Tip to get the compass just get the first encounter than save and reload than you can enter the cabin :D
i''ll clean my gun with gun oil
I've been playing this game for seven years. Never knew there were rock carvings lol. Never have I ever come across this Francis guy.
you can just save+load in front of the closed door to open it and grab the compass. 2024 still works.
I completed the game and never even had this cut scene
Take card try open door stay on porch save game. Load save. Short ride back to cabin walk inside Compass on table.
Yup 👍
It is possible to miss the item, but gain entry to the cabin later via a glitch.
No need to wait. Walk out then walk back in again.
The drawstrings for arthurs pyjamas?
Thanks for this.... I never would've figured this was the way to get that brass compass.
Oh the time machine mission. I need to do this one still
What story mission is this? Where do you go to start it?
Is this in story mode or online because I am at this cabin and nobody is around and it’s all locked up
I just went back to the cabin a few days after the encounter and the cabin was open
Could you find the compass ?
@@lumbagoRDR2 yes
Yes you can, I got it the same way@@lumbagoRDR2
This is not necessary and it way too much work
Save game, load game, then try entering the cabin. collecting the carvings is unnecessary.
I took me about 20 mins

Hey soy boy! Playing a video game, is not work.
@@firstamendment2887People really still call folks soy boy?
I finally finished the quest and the ending was totally unexpected. I am glad I did it.
First time there: cabin is closed and noone is there 😵💫
So he's some kind of time traveller and the rock carvings are predictions of future events?
It is clear from the engravings that he is a time traveler.

Please take better care of Arthur. Seing him in such poor condition is rather sad :-) Thanks for the video. Great job.
Thank you, I will 😬😬😀
Do you take video requests?
I need a talisman that's me take more bullets when I get surrounded by bandits
Luckily I got the RDR2 book filled with everything yoy need to know. Yes that talisman is necessary.
I got a better solution;
Snake oil.
I recognize this song... "Cowboy Lullaby" by JHS;)
👍
I collect the compass twice in same playthrough
Your number 10 was the first I found
Idk if it is Saint Denis I don’t remember
Fun side mission. But I'll never buy that trinket. I enjoy cleaning and maintaining my weapons too much.

I got that talisman a different way! I don't remember how though.
This game is a masterpiece... except for those stupid, boring, incredibly frustrating collectible quests. I fucking hate them.
this is a rockstar thing since gta 3 xD
Video does not show...but you must take a photograph of each carving as well as investigating for a journal entry, or you will not be able to complete.
photograph? i don't see the requirement asking for it.
I never photographed anything either. Maybe that requirement was patched out.

No you don't. You inspect the carvings not take a photograph.
Gold bars at far more better

its not only about that, you also need to find all carvings for 100% completion of the game
its a Time Travel
Just time stamps but other ta that homie u solid!
I actually got this without trying lol
Thank u bro love you videos straight to the point not begging for subs or likes just come threw pick up the work and I'll holla😎
Stupid title for a good video. Title dosent make sense. This item isn't important at all.
That's not much of a reward for all the time, and work put into it. Not really worth it.
