We are here once again...
I've always used either a combination of EQ-pedals and Tube Screamer in series or a straight up Treble Booster pedal. This could become my new standard.
It has everything you'd need in one basically
The pessimist in me: Great "another" boost pedal blah,blah,blah.......The optimist in me: Wait a second.......It's John from SDS! This guy has rocked a TON of amps I like.......If anyone is gonna prove this pedal is useful.....it will be John, hehe
I really love the methodical way to test every single piece of gear man. I learned so much of this channel. Cheers from Argentina!
Impressed with the actual audible difference heard in the clips. I would have liked to see the mud knob moved while showing the EQ curve output to see how it sounds and the actual frequencies affected and how close it really is to a Grind pedal on that function. Cool pedal! 👍
Is it just me, or did the Mesa Dual Recto just steal the show??? Best tone of the demo with or without the mud killer
I love how this pedal softly removes the mud from the sound turning it more clarity and agressive.
Fantastic pedal, fantastic amp wall and fantastic way to show how it works: listening
I just loved all the sounds on the video lol
It’s really just about finding the right moments to the right tone, and this pedal can help.
i like the gear review aspect of your videos, especially the IR stuff ..but it's your riffs that keep bringing me back!! lol! 😁🤘
Amazing! Cool pedal!
Amazing demo songs! That pedal sounds great and thank you for the great vids
This pedal works great boosting pedals like ODC and RAT!
Another great video and it makes a HUGE difference to me.
this pedal is awesome!
The compositions at the end of the vid sounded so awesome
Incredible pedal! Great demo man!
Your videos are so good, im really impressed . Always something cool on here, for me its your playing, really dig it.
Cheers from Michigan
Not only does the pedal sound awesome.your playing is kickass ! I like the EVH EL-34 clip..the playing and backing track is killer.
Sounds great! With the SC-20 I liked the unboosted sound in solo... but like always in the mix it sounds soooo much better with that lowcut!
Love it! Bought it for my EVH EL34 100 Blue Channel! All similar settings except comp off and pregain 9 o’clock 🤟😎
Great demo...just bought one
This pedal is awesome...but you riffs are KILLERS!!! WOW...
Fantastic video as always bud ;)
Nice riffs!
Excellent content as always
Pedal do Silas Fernandes! Estamos aqui mais uma vez... Ou estamos aqui de novo... 🤘🤘🤘
Always happen the same with this channel, I come to see what you show us and I ended enjoying more your fantastic riffs. By the way killer pedal man!! It´s amazing how amount of free space let the pedal to settle the bass frequencies. And as they told you, don´t lose more weight, 8 strings guitar needs strength to handle!! Stay safe
Cheers man! :)
Damn! That thing does sound good!
So Amazing!
this dude is a RIFF MACHINE!
Som matador!
Well, shiz! This seems to do an AMAZING job at cleaning up the low end in a super musical way. Great video Jon, I need to try and get my hands on one.
Hell yeah man, I think you'd love it!
I've been looking for worthy competition against the Fortin pedals as I really want something that can change channels and boost at the same time. I just don't like that the grind only gives you one basic sound especially for the price. This one gives you so much flexibility and achieves the same result in many ways. I think I'm going to buy one for sure. Thank you for this
Killer riffing btw especially on the 8 string. Gotta love those Stephen Carpenter guitars
Very nice!
Amazing!!!
Increíble ultra super great.. wow fantastic.
I have this bad guy is freaking awesome!
I like the pedal although when it comes to tight I have the fortin 33.
Good video mate!!!
Sounds awesome, but everything you put out sounds awesome so idk if its the pedal :D. Jokes on a side it certainly gave some clarity to your tones.
Would be awesome if you compare it to other typical boost pedals
5:55 "muddy, flabby and saggy" I don't even know what those words are but I know exactly what did you mean.
hahaahahaha
Looks like you lost some weight, congrats man.
I was just going to say the same thing. Keep it up bro.
Silas rocks
Sounds much more focused
THANKS THANKS THANKS THANKS THANKS THANKS THANKS
Nice done Sir!!
I thought to add an Dirty Tree or 33 aside to my Naga Viper, Grind and Direwolf. But this ones seems more logic ... the 33 makes one sound that is fat in my ears. And after body and gear shaping it is time for tone shaping ;)
Its certainly adds focus in the top end and you are right the drums and bass sit better. On the other hand , to my taste it thins the guitars out massively, I hear too big of a hole in the lower mids. I think a 10 band eq pedal with a smaller q would dial the tone in better if you cant live with the mud.
Thank you for yet another great video.
It really depends on how you dial it in really. It's very flexible so you can make it sound however you like basically
For Silas
Nice demo!
Have you tried the Dire Wolf in comparison???
The combined amp switch jack is fantastic. It’s like it was made for an early 2ch DR.
exactly my thoughts. ive a single rec this channel switch option would be perfect for.
BRASIL!!! SILAS!!! RIG ON FIRE!!!
Brasil!
Sounds SOO tasty on the 8 with the Mesa. I got a Roadster recently and I clearly suck at dialling it in, my tones don't come close to yours on the Recto
The Roadster is a much darker amp (and with a finer-grained distortion) than other Rectors. I have one and it's kinda hard to dial in. But it can sound good.
silas gonna be more rich now
HI WHAT ARE YOU USING FOR IR LOADER. SOUNDS GREAT :)
Dude what about that KILLER drum sample pool? Goodness, that hi-hat is TAS-TY
Great tone and video! But to be honest I can't hear much difference, especially in the context of a mix so I would just stick to my Maxon Od808!
Would the mud killer work well with the prs mt15?
🇧🇷
Hi, I came from Silas chanel
This sounds very good. How do you think it compares to the Maxon overdrive?
Much more versatile/tweakable and aggressive (if you need it to be)
I love your videos. Thank you!
I'm looking for a pedal to compliment my BuxomBoost pedal. Something that can add aggression when I want, clarity or mids. Do you think the Mud Killer is a good option in this case or maybe a different pedal like the Dire Wolf, Duality, PRECISION drive, Maxon 808?
Thanks.
I haven't tried all of those but the Mud Killer is awesome! I recommend it for tightnessssss
@@SonicDriveStudio Thank you sir! I use my Friedman Buxom Boost for tightness and a boost. Trying to find one more boost to compliment my Buxom.
@@SonicDriveStudioThanks. Can it only do tightness or can it be backed down to thicken up some amps that are dry or stiff? I've read that setting it fat and using other controls allows it to be versatile.
Silas CF
Toight loik a toiger! Just when I thought I got over my boost/OD pedal addiction... Am I imagining things or does this thing eben make the overtones shine through more? Impressive. Bet Oranges and Marshalls love this.
And yeah, I'd commit unspeakable acts for that black face Rectifier. Ugh.
How different is it from turning down the bass knob of the amp
Very different. Some amps behave similarly with the bass controls, amps like the Mesa Mark V for example but it's very different than the bass control for most amps
It doesn´t work at all in Pro Tools and OSX Catalina, constant AAE 7054 errors. I hope they fix it.
Silas is god!!! BRAZILIAAAAAAAAANO!!!
Nicely done. I really like this pedal. I dont use IR's, but I still love the tone this pedal gives me. Just using a sm57, Randall Diavlo Cab, and Blackstar HT Stage head (a bit loose with its stand alone distortion); Its a winning combination with this underground pedal, though!
OK, shoot me if you wish, but 35 years ago we had the same problem (flabbiness) with cheap amps and speakers when driven too hard with distortion pedals and we achieved the same, and I would argue - better - results with compression and EQ. Discuss
Great video! Congrats on the tunes and for using a duct tape to dampen the strings instead of the ridiculously overpriced and overhyped Gruvgears.
the Recto without the pedal sounds really awesome!
Mud Killer kills the mud dead
Pedal seems cool, but there's some HARSH static on the recording... becomes quite clear around 3:00, maybe its interference
Hmmm I haven't heard any static at all tbh
Weird I can hear it now too on my phone. Must have happened somewhere during or after the upload
@@SonicDriveStudio anyways congrats on your Stephen Carpenter signature collection! Made me drool :)
I preferred the „off“ every single time... Using pedals like this basically means „I don’t like what my amp is doing”
There's nothing wrong with that. I often also dig amps without boosts. Different strokes for different folks! However, when I do need a boost this is easily the best one!
Sonic Drive Studio Yeah for the purpose you described in the video it sure does a great job
The 8 string difference reminded me of when Meshuggah put out a reissue of Nothing due to them not liking the original mix.
I like the remixed nothing fwiw :)
@@SonicDriveStudio Meshuggah, you and I. Great minds something, something.
Sounds killer. The cheapskate in me wishes it was $50 less.
Don’t listen this demo on your iPhone speakers, use a decent headphone!!
That's always a must, or good monitors of course
