He definitely was Not underrated. He was considered one of the top rock drummers. Most drummers would place Dino in the top 10.

    • @ItsSusieQue96
      @ItsSusieQue96 11 месяцев назад +3

@@geraldroraback5432 the key is in your response when you say “most DRUMMERS”….. Other MUSICIANS recognized his talent but in the general population if you said “Dino Danelli” the response was usually “who?” Then you’d say drummer for the Rascals or Stevie VZ and theyd say “oh yeah hes good”
THAT is what underrated is-no name recognition by the fans/listeners but every legit player knows the name and reputation in the industry.

Every time I see Dino doing a DOUBLE drumstick twirl like he opens "I've been lonely too long", I'm in total awe. It takes incredible dexterity to twirl just ONE stick. Nevermind two. And yet, he never was shown dropping one or missing a beat. The Rascals were in my generation. The first great American supergroup countering the British Invasion of the '60s. You were special Dino.

We were lucky enough to work with them before Atlantic signed them. He was one of the first to start using a 24-26” bass drum. They were one of the best club bands in the late 60’s. We worked with them in a small club in the city. A lot of clubs would book 2 bands for the night.

@@davanmani556 Not at all, two very different styles of playing. Dino was very technical & super clean on all his roles, where Ginger was a hard rock and roll drummer with much less mechanics, his fills & rolls were simplified, but a great drummer.

I was fortunate to see him in 1966 with Dick Clark's "Where the Action Is" tour. He was even better in person than when he was on the first appearance of The Ed Sullivan Show. I saw them several times afterwards. I had just started playing drums with a garage band and he was an inspiration. The Rascals were always sincere and positive about everything they did. RIP Dino!

Keith Moon actually copied his style. He was a pioneer of style and skill. He was the backbone of the band and the best looking guy of the group. He was hard hitting and super precise. John Densmore, Bill Kreutzman, Spencer Dryden, Ringo Starr, Charlie Watts, even Tommy Lee, none of them had the chops and the complete package like Dino Danelli.
He was the foundation that the music was built upon and stands upon forever.
He set the mark in 1965. That mark stands the test of time. He earned his praise.

When I was a teenager I saw the Rascals more that 10 times in concert. One of the most electrifying bands that ever played. So much energy and drive and the rock solid foundation was Dino. When they were onstage in concert, outside tv show appearances and video recordings, they were at their best. And Dino would put on a drumming clinic. Nothing short of jaw dropping. Yes. In my opinion he was the best of the best.

Just looking at an old black and white photo of our garage band in eastern N.C. from the late 1960’s that was greatly influenced by the Rascals. Still have a worn copy of our first song list of 49 songs, 5 of which were by the Rascals:
    1. Good Lovin’
    2. Lonely too Long
    3.Love is a Beautiful Thing
    4. A Beautiful Morning
    5. Groovin’
No we never cut a record but did satisfy our #1 objective-we had fun! Thanks to Dino and the other Rascals for their inspiration. RIP Dino!

Awesome drum solo !!! Dino Danelli !!! Dino played ALL of the the Rascals drum tracks...no need to bring in the “studio cats” as was so prevalent at the time...and he nailed every one of them...a great accomplishment for such a young drummer...He is the one and only, Dino Danelli...often imitated, but never duplicated !!! Sadly, Dino died on 12-15-2022. Hands down one of the best drummers of the early days of Rock and Roll. The 60s variety. First time I saw him. I was blown away. RIP Dino. A true legend ..
