  • Usually, I upload relatively complex paintjobs for Infinity models, involving layering, blending and airbrushing, but sometimes you just want to have a unit ready quickly and to a reasonable standard. So, in this video I'll show you how I painted my Military Orders Hospitaler Knights using only Citadel Contrast paints and a couple of layer paints. At the end, I'll do some easy freehand as well, to spice things up.

    Hey guys! Do you prefer using normal or contrast paints for your infinity minies? If you use contrast, what does your process look like?

      I really like contrast type of paints (although I prefer Speed Paints 2.0 to contrast). One easy thing you can do to push more the contrast before the highlights is an oil wash and then cleaning the excess of oil.
      I have found that the process of "zenithal, contrast, oil wash, clean wash with a q-tip, acrylic highlights, details", works pretty well with models with a lot of detail and not too many flat surfaces (so not a TAG :D) and it's relatively easy and fast to execute.

      That is one of my favorite methods as well, and I used it in some of my earlier videos on the channel. The only downside is that the models tend to come out a bit darker overall, which is perfectly fine depending on the color scheme and your preferences.

      I like to use Vallejo XPress Colors instead, the contrast effect they give is not as strong but they are not as splotchy and really matt, you should always add aditional highlights or darken the recesses

      I could definitely see the benefits of contrasts for speed's sake. I also feel like it would be great on things like ariadna etc.

    Please do more of these contrast plus infinity videos! I'd love to see other factions done this way as I have a back log to be painted but I'm no where near a high level painter but these videos give me both hope and inspiration to paint.

      More of this is definitely coming! It seems that people find it useful, which is super nice to hear :)

    Great video! As someone with a big pile if shame this looks very promissing. Can yu make a video with Xpress colors? With Yu Jing? With and orange as white bsnner box art?

    Thank you for a great video. Seems this is a great method to paint the Neoterra army having for almost 8 years in it's boxes, as they can use that extra "plasticy" pop of the contrast paints, instead going to paint them with NMM like the rest. Thank you :)

    Amazing effect with contrast paints, super interested to see how you would apply this method to other factions/colors. Adding a highlight or two does wonders, seems like CP are a very solid background. Love to see O-12 and MCP in the background as well!

      I am planning to have this as a series so more factions are coming :) And at this point I have all the major factions in my collection except the Tohaa I belive so I should have some coverage for all on the channel either with the contrast approach, or with my usual methods.

    Any opinions on the Army Painter Speedpaint 2.0? Any specific colours you recommend for infinity models?

    • @ph3lansminiatures
      @ph3lansminiatures  5 месяцев назад +1

      Unfortunately, I don't own any of the army painter speedpaints, so I don't have any experience with them. So far, the only paints I have from them is a big box of their original acrylic range, which I bought when I started out painting. I still regret buying those since they are quite bad, but hopefully, their newer stuff is better 😀

    Great work. I really need to start practicing edge highlighting. Luckily I have a lot of space marines lying around :D

    Sweet!
    How did you do the freehand behind the guns?
    Just make it as far in as possible and if its not a cross then ignore it or did you do something else?

    • @ph3lansminiatures
      @ph3lansminiatures  Год назад +2

      Yep, I simply reached in with the brush, and it goes as far as I could reach. There is more space than you would think, so even if you look from above, you wouldn't know the trick :)

    "I usually glaze, layer and use the airbrush, but thus time I'll use none of that" (parahrased)
    Proceeds to glaze contrast paints over a airbrushed applied zenithal and follows with layer paints 😂
