I am anxious to see how much better it drives on the dirt. I couldn’t really rip it to its fullest potential in this video because I just kept spinning whenever I would really get on it.
I bought the same truck returning back to the hobby and did the same, with the spectrum motor and speed controller in one, although I converted it to 4wd. It wakes this truck up completely. I did put a 2 tooth larger pinion though and I get mine up to 48mph with a spectrum 50c battery. Plenty fast enough imo for 1/10 scale. The car is a lot of fun in front of my house or at the park. Very durable. I thought buying the boost was a way to tinker more. Now I just bought ProLine arms and a new set of wheel and tires.
I have the stalk engine as of right now and I am running 6500 Zees Lipo batteries in her and even with the stalk engine this thing is quick but this weekend I will be installing the 4x4 kit for it
Recently bought this RC car this car upgraded to 4 x 4 and brushless an upgraded that I had laying around the spur gear to a steel with 0.8 mod. I hear that 48 pitch gears on that plastic spur gear usually shed off the plastic.
I just did a 0.8 mod upgrade to mine along with the aluminum gearbox. Running a 15t pinion and it runs much better now. Working on getting that video done today or tomorrow.
@@ReadytoRunRC what size pinion do these motors use im asking because mine came with one on it and i wanna buy another motor and esc but im not sure what size the moto shaft is do you know mate
What voltage battery are you running? I have the same motor/ESC combo in a Dirt Master and I'm totally confused now after reading the instructions for the ESC. The battery I bought with everything is a 35C 7.4v LiPo, not sure if its 2S or what? Spektrum Firma 85A instructions say it's programmable for 6.0v LiPo or 7.4 NiMH? Would you happen to know if I need a different battery? Man this stuff was much more straight forward 35 years ago!
I’m running an 11.1V 3S battery. Your battery is a 2S if it’s 7.4V. I think the 6v you’re talking about is for BEC which is the voltage that goes to your servo and any other accessories like a cooling fan or lights. You wouldn’t need a different battery but if you want to go faster, I would run on an 11.1V 3S battery.
I am a bit confused with the spektrum 85A ESC & 4000KV Brushless Motor Combo. On their website it shows that the ESC is ok to run a 2S or 3S battery but it also says the motor is only ok to run a 2S. Have you had any issues using the 3S batteries with this setup? It seems to run just fine on 3S for you. Its pretty fast with a 2S but I would really like to run a 3S battery I have but I am afraid to burn the motor up lol
@@Shreddylife valid concern. I have had no issues running 3S with mine. Just keep an eye on temp’s especially if you’re running in grass or have it geared up a little. I mostly run on my dirt track. Gets a little warm but I’m also geared a little higher too. If you’re planning on running stock gear sizes then I wouldn’t worry as much. Not saying running 3S is the right thing to do. Just saying I haven’t had any issues.
@@ReadytoRunRC Yeah that is what I kinda figured. The nice thing is if we do end up burning up the motor on 3S they are not too expensive to replace lol I wonder what other motors we can run that is designed for offroad 1/10 scale 3S with this 85A ESC? Oh also, How many packs have you gone through on 3S do you think? Thanks for the reply I really appreciate it!
@@ReadytoRunRC Oh also! With the programming card you can turn the punch up to 5 and it helps get some more low end power with the 2S packs! 😀 It might get the motor a bit hotter on 3S though but I am not too sure?
@@Shreddylife I’ve gone through 4 battery packs on 3S so far. I haven’t ran it lately because the stock junk Spektrum servo burned out. They don’t usually last too long and is something that almost always needs replaced right away.
Why not just get the 3S BLX, you don’t even have AVC in that thing after spending all that money..why is the receiver not in the receiver box.. This was an odd video man.
Some folks will go with the Boost line up because they wanna build up something faster than the blx 3s. Also the blx spektrum radio controller is laggy from what I hear..Ao either blx or boost he'll still need a new controller. So the BLX 3s isn't all that good to begin with. I got the Vorteks Boost and got the 4x4 kit and also got a spektrum 120A(4S) with a 2400kv spektrum motor and imo I think that's better than the BLX 3s and I spent about 30 bucks more then getting the blx and I did that in pieces not all at once and for some thats a good thing.
3s BLX don't got no AVC either. I don't see why you made that comment. I wouldn't have gotten the boost either as brushed motors belong in the Medieval ages, where they were invented, but your comment doesn't make sense because 3s BLX ain't got no AVC. The AVC receiver on its own costs $92 from Jenny's, then you gotta buy the DX3. BLX line comes with SLT3 and baby 3 channel receiver, or is it 2 channel? I forget, mine is in the garbage now, it was a spmslr300 and it was about as nice as a turd with seasoned salt on it. IMO the Boost trucks should be rollers, because brushed systems are disposable, and probably the only reason they're included is because it would cost Arrma more money to ship them to a landfill. But most RC channels treat the Boost series as rollers anyway, that's why he did it, for content for the RUclipss, and to teach small children how to wrench on RCs. You buy a BLX off the bat and you ain't got no video except an unboxing, of which there are already 100 elsewhere. Why you can't understand things yourself is beyond me.
That vortex rips with the brushless motor! The 4x4 upgrade is going to make it handle so much better!

Awesome truck, dude! You brought it alive! 😃
It's alive... ALIVE! (Sorry, I couldn't resist! 😂)
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

I was hoping for a little more out of the 2S but was happy with what the 3S did.

Will the 6500 kv moter work with the 85A ESC and will the6500kv moter make it go faster than yours?

use a bigger pinion you will get alot more from that motor and esc ive got one in my buggy and im hittingnearly 60
