    I had RS Cosworths for years, sold the last one 15 years ago & didn't bother with performace cars after that. Started reading about a 3 cylinder 1.6 Toyota a couple of years ago & i still can't get my head around it!!! ... its crazy!!

      it really is a crazy little engine. So much power from such a light little 3 pot

    Did you buy any chance weigh the engine. I see this engine becoming popular in the experimental aircraft market. Would he jice tonsee hw much it vibrates, it does have a large stroke and bore so it would would be good at about 4000 rpm constant. It would have large torque pulses though. Thanks for the video from the land down under.

    You said a couple of times it was a brand new engine. was it actually a brand new engine or was it the original from the GR Yaris you put on the ramp? Also surprised to see you didn't mention if the big end caps were "cracked" off the rods or machined faces?

    • @srdtuning331
      @srdtuning331  Год назад +2

      Was a totally new short block from Toyota
      Rods are machine faces with dowl pins.

      @@srdtuning331 Thank you so much sir for your reply. Now i have to ask.. why a new block? was there something wrong with the original? I ask as I am GRY owner.

    • @srdtuning331
      @srdtuning331  Год назад +2

      No nothing wrong with the original GRY block but wanted to have the car off the road for minimum time.
      Made it easier to buy a new block have all the machine work done and crank balance work carried out then when the car arrived we were ready to basically do a short block change, turbo kit, intake, fuel system and mapping. Turn around has been. About 2 1/2 weeks.
      If we used the original block would have been 4 + weeks so was really a saving time thing plus the short block was quite cheep so made sense to do it this way.

      @@srdtuning331 wow!! Thank you for your long and detailed reply. Very good of you. I guess doing it this way you also now have an exchange block if someone wanted it and didn’t care about matching numbers. I am really looking forward to seeing this come together, and how the drivetrain fares??

    too much ring gap-nobody know.....too little rgap, everybody knows!

    • @srdtuning331
      @srdtuning331  Год назад

      To large of a rig gap makes the engine breathe more and shorter the oil life.
      If the top rig has a large ring gap can make the 2nd rig flutter.
      Out the box they should be tight so we can set them to what we want.
      Not already to big 0.0045" per 1" of bore most pistons start with.
