I'm a Trinidadian Indian watching an American, Brit and Aussie Indian. Our people are ubiquitous mainly because the British shifted Indians around the commonwealth etc.and for educational and financial reasons later on.
I'm from Tasmania originally. I use to catch the bus at times, living close to where Saroo and his adopted family. I use to remember seeing Saroo get on the bus getting on 3 or 4 stops down the road from me. This is back in the time when he would been thinking of his missing family and revisiting those memories which he didn't have the answers. I would also see Saroo work in bars when i went out in Town and use to seem a really outgoing guy. It's interesting seeing him back then and not knowing what he was going through and what would transpire. The movie Lion also had a scene in it where a boat is being washed outside the front house. This boat which is directly in front of my parents. Amazing story. and we live in a small world.
Wow, what a small world for real. It really shows just how you never know what stories the people you encounter have to say. I hope you are doing well !
V0larevia it's a good story but no way best picture. Best picture has to have everything going for it (acting, directing, cinematography, set design, wardrobe, etc) this film is too simple for that. (So is 'moonlight' by the way. 'La la land' totally deserved best picture)
In the theater I heard so much sniffling and saw so much wiping of eyes and physical reactions to it. It was so deep and powerful. Unbelievable movie and story.
The scene when the boy gets on the train to Calcutta and the portrayal of his complete loss of control and separation from his home had a big impact on me..
Being a mother myself I felt the pain of loosing a son then only to find out at the end of the film Saroo's mother lost both sons on the same day. A film full of raw emotions such a human factor for all families. I applaud little Saroo actor he will go far, I also applaud Dev Patel for taking this story to the maximum Oscars for all 😍❤️

I can relate to the feeling of drive to find your birth mom, the frustrating nights online searching w limited info... wondering if you will find anything - feeling like theres a wall youre hitting and waiting for the one piece of info to click... however I cannot imagine the obstacles he faced and the effort he made to locate his birth mom. Just seen the movie. Best film for me so far this year, beats 'La La Land' only just. My eyes welled up, this movie has emotion in buckets, especially as a true story. Hacksaw Ridge and Moonlight are up there too. Another good start to the year for cinema.
I cry everytime I see this movie and would probably cry instantly if I met Saroo in person. I believe everything that happened to him is a devine purpose. He got lost, was adopted by a family looking for a 'lost' child, finding his biological mother through his own persistance and love and touching the world through his story from this amazingly put together movie!! Loved it!!
Absolutely love this movie. Shows the unbreakable bond of mother and child. No matter how adopted children are loved. They always crave for their real parents. I saw it three times, and I cried each time. Sheru was a brave and wonderful boy. I'm so sorry for the children in India that go missing , I plan to help threw the real movies reach out programs.
I m speechless .Saroo is a real lion. The movie, my god is the most beautiful, emotional piece of work I have ever seen. In Hindi, we say - jaako raakhe saaiyaan, maar sake na koi meaning The person who is protected by god himself will not be harmed by anyone. So true in case of saroo. God really blessed him abundantly. Love you all.
Finally! After Saroo appearing in many talkshows, he now gets to answer the better questions! The questions and heart felt answers kept me on the edge of my seat!
wow... heart touching film... Google earth is very useful for me. Last month my brother was referred in Kolkata due to medical problem. it was our first time visiting Kolkata. through google map we could locate places... I praise google earth. 👍👍👍
This movie made me cry and the fact that it is true story make it more mesmerizing. ❤ Honestly, internet is a blessing if used correctly. Imagine if there wasn't any google earth then he must have been miserable till date.
I know with films that deal with technology as one of the main factors, it either has benefits and downfalls. This is an example of benefits. Saroo had a better visual memory than auditorial memory, and with a program that allows you to see the details with the land itself, he was able narrow down the search for a town that even though we know it's real, it sounded like it didn't. Despite the tragedies moments, he was able to have a second chance at life, and was reunited with his biological family. This film, in my opinion, is perfect in so many ways. I'm a fan of Dev Patel, but this completely changed everything in life. This story proves that despite what's going on in the world, there are good moments to hold on to.
I watched this movie and read the book and all one week. I really enjoyed this movie. My husband and I cried probably the entire time. I pray that the many lives of those children are touched and Love by by people just like his adopted parents.
comments are hilarious. lol. havent watched the movie yet and im bawling over all these trailers & videos about the movie.. i can relate so much to saroo' s story.. i hope to visit india before i die.. o well and british & australia too.. im filipina & i love india' s history and culture.. :)
I love Lion! i reccommend this movie made me cry my eyes out😭 but its my new favorite movie has SO MUCH MEANING AND REAL EMOTION!! i felt so bad that he had to go thru that lil sheru 😩💔 then i feel like it gave him a chance at a good successful life bless his biological moms heart and his adopted mom for taking car of him absoultly love this story!!!
I Loved this movie. Have watched it several times. Great actors/actress, the little boy who played Saroo is adorable. Nicole Kidman one of my favorite actresses plays Saroos adoptive mother. A person can feel bad about situations in their life but take a look at this movie and what happens to this young boy and the lifetime for him to reconnect with his mother.
Amazing show...good host, best part was the questions session I just loved it Google really have such an amazing team bravo! I just watched the movie an hour back and wanted to know the real Saroo (Sheru / Lion) and always love real story movies. We all cried watching this movie and my inspiration or take from this movie is What a beautiful and loving Australian Family adopting Saroo and giving him a new life, and Saroo's dedication to find his Mom and family. My 17 year old daughter has been big on adopting kids when she grows up and her inspiration came from volunteering project in India and Sue your story will inspire her more & millions of young kids for adopting kids rather than having their own what an amazing sacrifice and love for humanity and my inspiration or take from this movie is do something for such orphans kids all across the globe and give them a new life! Dev you did a fantastic job and entire team of Lion...keep up the good work!
hats off to you all people involved in bringing Saroo( Sheroo) 's story.....I am yet to see this movie Lion....hope India is not shown in bad taste as done in 'Slumdog millenniar'......hiding the true good India.....
the movie was very inspiring and sentimental. it made me cry so deeply seeing and understanding how a five year old boy was lost and walks on his own far away from home, thinking where he was and no way to return to his family. it was so sad and i felt very sad putting myself into his shoes. i can feel the sense of him walking alone, stealing food to fed himself, swimming at the river that almost claim his life. but thanks he was safe, was adopted by a good and loving parents and in time reunited with his mother. that part of the movie when he met his mom my sober was so deep and happy at the same time that he finally meet her mom. even watching the youtube video visiting his mom with a reporter i cried and cried again.
I watched the scene where he meets his mum so many times but never really paid attention to the people around so now wanna go back and watch knowing those are really villagers :) I love when they use real people as extras
Amazing ! What a sweet and touching team work of real life ..experience I as an adopted child still finding so hard to fully believe how far I have come this far
This is my favorite movie I cry so much a wonderful story but so sad for his brother .. Saroo is a smart boy and brave of I ever get lost I would cry and cry but being lost far away he is so brave and so cute he kinda looks the same ... Best movie of all times
It's a shame no one seems to be making a bigger deal of the child protection issues shown in the film, that are as real as his story and sadly so very actual still to this day!

I have so much respect for the Brierly family...
Quite a tear jerker with a (somewhat) happy ending .....b/c of his brother.
The people who worked on Google earth must feel so good about themselves after seeing this movie.
Very moving story I love it made me cry and cry. I visited India and saw with my own eyes how poor people live there.
Just wow . God bless them who adoptem him and it was his rebirth 🙏 They were the only parents who helped him find his village
I can't help but noticed how eloquent these people are.
I have just watched the trailer and I'm drowning in tears😭
hats off to you all people involved in bringing Saroo( Sheroo) 's story.....I am yet to see this movie Lion....hope India is not shown in bad taste as done in 'Slumdog millenniar'......hiding the true good India.....

the movie was very inspiring and sentimental. it made me cry so deeply seeing and understanding how a five year old boy was lost and walks on his own far away from home, thinking where he was and no way to return to his family. it was so sad and i felt very sad putting myself into his shoes. i can feel the sense of him walking alone, stealing food to fed himself, swimming at the river that almost claim his life. but thanks he was safe, was adopted by a good and loving parents and in time reunited with his mother. that part of the movie when he met his mom my sober was so deep and happy at the same time that he finally meet her mom. even watching the youtube video visiting his mom with a reporter i cried and cried again.
Great movie! And reality is even better
I have read the book by Saroo... amazing and inspiring! Can't wait to see the film
I watched the movie today and cried liked a baby the entire time.
I respect Dev patel as an actor
I watched the scene where he meets his mum so many times but never really paid attention to the people around so now wanna go back and watch knowing those are really villagers :) I love when they use real people as extras
Aussie, British and American accents together lol love it, one of best biographical movies ever made me cry.❤️
Amazing film! One of the greatest movies of all time!! A soon to be classic!!!
Amazing ! What a sweet and touching team work of real life ..experience I as an adopted child still finding so hard to fully believe how far I have come this far
Powerful performances from the cast. A great movie.
Awed and inspired by your success Saroo.
Emotional, is was very emotional watching this movie. Loved it. LION 2016- 2017
This is my favorite movie I cry so much a wonderful story but so sad for his brother .. Saroo is a smart boy and brave of I ever get lost I would cry and cry but being lost far away he is so brave and so cute he kinda looks the same ... Best movie of all times
Most def- I thought that same thing, too! BUT Irrfan would've been TOO old to play him.
It's a shame no one seems to be making a bigger deal of the child protection issues shown in the film, that are as real as his story and sadly so very actual still to this day!
Minute 37! yay thanks. Need to talk about this more!
What a fabulous film! How many other kids and families have stories like this?
Dev petal is actually flawless
