    Sunny doesn't speak English so the translator is feeding him what he thinks are witty english replies. Thats why he comes off as slightly arrogant here while in reality Sunny is a really sweet kid.

    I cried through 50% of the movie and that has never happened before.i cried in the beginning in the middle and I cried in the end when they tell him guddu's no more,I didn't cry silently,I had to put a blanket in my mouth so my roommates didn't hear me crying like that,no matter if it got the oscar or not,it's a special movie. Maybe as indian audience i could feel it more .that little guy sunny is a genius.

    Makes me sad to see Indians in the comments attacking Australians or 'white' people (as if all white people are one category or are all colonizers) because they feel this film shows our country's inadequacies. This movie is not an India v/s Australia contest, it is about one man and his two families, and their story of motherly love across countries and continents. Getting angry about such a movie being made just showcases our insecurities. Instead of protesting against India's portrayal, why not occupy ourselves in helping children like Saroo who are defenseless on the streets?
    Also, I think cinemas across the world (or at least in major film industries) do reflect upon the shortcomings in their society. Rabbit Proof Fence is a case in point for Australia, and I am sure there are others. The Indian film industry, on the other hand, produces more misogynistic dance numbers and senseless stories, and very rare gems, which are even more rarely appreciated. I am glad someone brought out Saroo's story on film, because Indians surely wouldn't have, and I think that reflects very poorly on us.

    • @s.shanmugasundaram8869
      @s.shanmugasundaram8869 4 года назад +1

      @Raju bhau Lol, you called women who CHOOSE to do whatever they want with their bodies "slutty", "dirty" and "bitches". You don't even see women as sexual beings who are their own agencies. A person like you don't have enough brain cells to comment on feminism.
      And what about the MEN who choose to dance around semi-naked women, those who choose to direct such women, those who choose to produce?? They are saints who gets called "bhai" and have a bigger salary, bigger respect and bigger fanbase than any actress could have but the actresses alone are a problem for you, right?? Because you think only men are sexual, and women or not. Women are sexual beings, you would have realized that if you have got a basic sex education in school, which India cannot afford unfortunately.
      Also, it is perfectly alright for women to show their skin. It is THEIR body, not yours' loser. The problem is when women are ONLY given those roles but not other meaty performances or importance in the script or equal salaries. That is why bollywood films are misogynistic.

    • @relevant_nebula
      @relevant_nebula 7 лет назад +6

      Please get over yourself. The story is great and needed to be shown. It was already a book. This movie is art and the acting, cinematography and direction are phenomenonal. It's not an attempt to denigrate India. Life is full of sad stories and they are told in every language. Watch Satyajit Ray and educate your mind. Middle class Indians only seem to recognise shallow meaningless crap that comes out of Bollywood, but this movie it's in a different league. Do not degrade Saroo Brierly and his traumatic experience by insulting the filmmakers.
