- New world closed beta is here. It's good. I like it. The issues with the game are likely to be more prevalent once you reach end game, which I haven't yet which is why this is a first impressions. I highly recommend you check it out while it's in beta to see if it's something you'll enjoy. It's a breath of fresh air honestly, but we'll see how long the feeling lasts.
"Explore a thrilling, open-world MMO filled with danger and opportunity where you'll forge a new destiny for yourself as an adventurer shipwrecked on the supernatural island of Aeternum. Endless opportunities to fight, forage, and forge await you among the island's wilderness and ruins. Channel supernatural forces or wield deadly weapons in a classless, real-time combat system, and fight alone, with a small team, or in massed armies for PvE and PvP battles-the choices are all yours."

Amazon would be wise to release some sort of roadmap of what is planned after release. My biggest worry is the lack of meaningful things to do once you hit level cap and combat / character progression.
A roadmap would be great for sure
@@KiraTV1 Roadmap is coming, they already told us on Summer Game Fest back in June, it should be between beta and release (most likely on release date).
roadmaps are okay just no specific dates gamers rage when they dont get the shiny new thing mommy promised them it just makes things so much more toxic
@@tang6654 Roadmaps typically don't have specific dates, that is usually reserved for when they are confident to announce when it is to be released. Something along of the lines of "this quarter of the year is when you can expect to see this content" but it is subject to change.
I agree. I totally needs a roadmap. For release and PVE related, its not gonna have enough to keep people busy for long.
First time in a years that I sneaked up before the rest of the family to play before breakfast and as a parent with a small child sleep is always in high demand so the game was that fun^^
Lmao!!! I can definitely relate
Man it’s been a while since I’ve had the urge to play games before the kids wake up! Can completely relate to this!
I feel this man. I have been doing the same to get some new world time in.
I feeling I have missed from my high school days lol
For me officially the most addictive MMO since EverCrack in 1999. Graphics turned up are almost at farcry 5 levels which is impressive for an MMO.
Pretty sure they already said in a recent interview that a mount system is coming. They just wanted to make it a full fleshed out system in itself rather than just a simple "click/mount" like WoW. They also want to get their world a bit bigger first as well.
i hope they will balance it, like u can mount only in town
That will be hilarious because fanbois are already defending their choice for not having mounts, saying that it'll make the world too small.
@gib countdilidio he's saying the cash shop is already in.. its a few cosmetic items with like 25k of the currency given for testing. We'll have to see where they take it from there but pretty standard so far.
maybe they can start by adding a swimming animation after 5 years before talking about mounts &
WoW lmao
Mounts would be amazing. I think instead of buying mounts it would be really cool if you could tame the wild creatures around you breed them etc and sell them and what not. Make a whole new crafting economy for players.
"Feels like an MMO" Now that's not something I've heard in a long, long time.
Its kind of sad that the team which wanted New World to be the next state of MMOs, the new thing, an explorer into the unknown, etc, in the end have to remake it to be a very standard and traditional MMORPG. But I guess its good that they did it well, and the game turns out solid.

i would love to play an MMO where heals and tanks are 100% needed to achieve success for everyone. i would like too play heals and feel that im needed for all content.
. a lot of them just feel like single player games and u occasionally stumble upon other players but new world feels different, i've had fun so far in the beta.
I hear it everyday in FFXIV 😌
I felt the same thing, I had 14 hours logged, decided not to burn myself out and give it a break until launch..
I now have 24 hours logged
Haha same, I just got to the first dungeon and now I’m forcing myself not to play
we will see once the honeymoon phase is over, ppl tend to forget how it was the last time they felt this mmo feeling before they shit on that mmo after playing it for a few months and then another mmo launches and the cyle repeats itself
I'd be happy to get months out the game. I dont expect games to give me infinite value forever and for me to love them for 12 months a year for multiple years always.
"this game isn't for everyone, if it was - it would be trash". Spot on.
go play TESO and stfu :)
@@TheIceJester sorry, not playing your favorites.
That has been said before about many mmo games before it. Usually they end up with a small playerbase or they die off. I sincerely hope for this game's team that it's the former and not the latter. Definitely not always a positive, especially in this genre.
@@Raihakun I completely agree making a game for specific audience is a recipe for success in itself. This is why New World wasn't received very well in alpha (or was it early beta?). But it's going in a really good direction so far.
Yeah if you like crap animations and ugly characters this game is for you.
This is NOT the take I was expecting but I am so happy I got it. I was pretty doubtful when the switched directions so drastically. I am still a bit bitter since I was one of the original alpha testers and had some of the most memorable gaming experiences of my life in the old game. It makes me happy to hear that the new version is turning out alright, even if it's not what I had hoped. Thanks for the review/commentary.
Convince me it's worth playing kira. Here's a fun fact: your channel got me back into MMOs which got me into using discord and now I have friends
Thats awesome man , glad to hear it
No, it is not worth investing your precious time.
Love to hear it!
What he's describing in terms of social and the world feeling alive is how I felt returning to GW2. Other players can rez together, most of the map events are accomplished together and the crafting is actually fun
GW2 is the best mmo to date, playing it just feels good
Yeah ! These days, I don't play GW2 anymore the way it should be played, with a guild and that stuff... I did for two years and it was a blast ! But all you've said about this game is true, and i find myself going back into it from time to time, switching between my main character for living world quests and my new char for a fresh start in order to feel like the first time i played, exploring maps, encountering people during events, etc.
@@quorrtahn7670 Currently even the combat in GW2 feels better than new world because you're not limited to 6 skills with a badly designed weapon switching system.
@@Sincerity1993 True. ^^ But in any case, i'm enjoying my time playing on New World atm so I'm fine. :) Especially because I'm playing with my multigaming community. ;)
@@quorrtahn7670 Same here, however as it currently stands I don't think it will provide longterm motivation but let's see what they gonna do
This game needs another year to develop between the glitched hit boxes, desynced movement, high ms, little to no gratifying high skill cap end game content and many other aspects that still need polished its far away from being a game that has the chance to rival other great MMORPGs that have come out in the past.
I feel the same, everyone was saying that the game is great, fantastic and everything, but to me it's bugged and some gaame designs are really poor.
The server's ping changes from 10 to 150 through the day (usually I have a better ping at dawn and a the worst ping at night), some map models magically disappear and creates an invisible barrier, the jump is fucking ridiculous (feels like an autistic toad), the fast travel should be a thing to most settlements at least (it's limited right now, it costs blue potions so I'm not sure how this can be aa good thing), it's fucking tedious to walk 3~5km to find your friend that just started playing, and for gods sake we need a minimap and some type of icon to give you a direction to complete the quest, right now the game sends me to a region and makes me wander in circles to find something thaaat most of the time I don't know what is... We should have a better way to pinpoint for the quest objective, walking in circles for like 30min to find a fucking box that is behind some sort of bugged wall or ship is horrible!
Most of the bugs are server related though. Other than that is balancing mechanics.
I think most of the people haven't arrived in Endgame and just don't see how 6 Abilities on max level in an MMO is quite abyssmal, plus basically no Endgame Content, cause even dungeons are limited to a certain amount per week, indicating even more, there is no content.
I surely don't understand how literally everyone is hyping this shit up, not to mention the boosts coming next year for "Catch-up".
CDPR fucked people over with Cyberpunk, even tho they had the TW3 trust and rep, and now people telling me, they trust the giant mega corp of fucking Amazon?
Give me a break.
@@gehtdichnichtsan2418 No one who enjoys this game cares about muh raids and muh dungeons. its a PvP territory war game. if that's no your thing you're going to be disappointed I think.
Crafting issue can be resolved with a durability "patch" system like Runescape3 added for their highest tier armors. The top end materials can be crafted into either BIS gear OR repair patches for fixing up the durability on the BIS gear. Because of the patches, the market can't get saturated with BIS gear and the price of the gear reflects both the demand for the gear AND the rate people are using it (durability losses). If the price dips and more people start using it, the price of patches goes up and the gear rebounds to match.
Played it to level 15 seen everything I need to will come back in 6 weeks.
"Lv15 and seen everything" shesh man. I'm lvl20 and yet to enter dungeons or faction wars..
@@MrSydjames Try read the rest of the sentence. "... I need to will come back in 6 weeks." .
That was not implying to have seen "everything" everything the game has to offer, but enough to wanting to come back and play on full release.
@@MrSydjames shesh man, at least read the whole sentence and understand what OP is saying.
Agreed. Only thing I would add.
Needs more quest mobs, fighting farmers for quest mobs is ridiculous. Anytime I get a quest to hunt an animal and skin it, I know its going to take at least 30 minutes because there's 4 or 5 other players in a party together farming it. I even sat there for an hour once and watched the same players repeatedly kill the same mobs and not even skin them.
Yeah its really bad in the early zones for sure, but i believe later zones have more mob variety because they are newer.
I remember crafting Hereafter Stones in ArcheAge. It was one of many things which made gathering resources, refining them and crafting profitable, because a lot of necessary stuff had to come from players, not from an NPC with limitless supply. But that was years ago. Too bad too many games prefer NPC vendors over player driven economy.
ArcheAge was such a good game!
I agree. If anything will turn away their player base it'll be the on foot travel. Played 6 hours yesterday and almost 4 of it was just running to a location. It's exacerbated by quest taking you across entire zones(sometimes multiple zones). I want to get to end game but I'm not sure how much more I can endure
Quests should be improved into a wide diversity, they should look at an old Funcom mmorpg called Secret World. There are missions & side quests almost all of them unique and you don't get bored and feel like in a walking simulator doing the same mission 3459278475 times... and repeat the next day.
ooh the secret world had the best quest system ever :D so much fun
I miss Secret World. And Wildstar.
It's heavily a community based game between factions, I love the idea of factions owning territory and having to upgrade the crafting stations etc sure there's bugs and smoothing needs to be done but it feels so nice
I enjoy that it's difficult. Alot of MMOs just make me feel like watching Netflix while playing, New world keeps my attention.
Great video man keep it up 👍
The mark of a good game, keeping your attention while you are supposed to be playing it! 🙌
So basically you’re looking for an exploration sandbox mmo experience.
That case above is only theme park because they need the story to be a part of the game. Netflix do not give you options to your dialogues.
For a game like ESO, it would be easier to do that. In reality, nah.
It’s an MMORPG genre, not just MMO, so most of your action inputs still matter to that extent. However, creating multiple choices, ppl tend to skip and not read everything on the dialogue options. It’s harder to track back if you actually miss something important in the conversation. The storytelling in mmo usually tune down to whatever the lore and the writers want them to be and fit that scenario because you’re role playing it in the benefit of making a story (campaign is a shorter story and usually a side feature instead of a full feature behind the game)
Imo though, mmo and rpg shouldn’t go together. Pretty much since Everquest and Ultima online as well as D&D redefine the genre where the first thing ppl know about mmo that it’s an open world game with a lot of ppl.
That aspect change throughout the years into social category, gameplay category, economy, and fan services, ppl begin to mix in between what they want for the genre. Sometimes thought isn’t enough to determine whether it’s a good or bad decision. It’s a lot of why mmo tend to remove features that not suit into the game and replace with something else.
Some ppl want the older version of the gameplay with limited resources to make the world feel seamless and a bit real. But hey, you don’t always have to do that and it’s not always work that way neither.
The most important of a game is to be consistent, fun to play, and crystal clear about the contents with how they work. What this game need is a filter of what worth to do and what is not. That’s where the devs need to contact with the players throughout the feedbacks. They should ask it rather than waiting for ppl to complain.
@@Nathan_Coley will be dead in few months. this game is chaos. and for sure wasnt designed as mmo at start.
To each their own. I tried the beta and it's definitely not my cup of tea. I hate tab-targeting systems so I was holding out faith for this one. The combat is much too simple, boring, and clunky. The crafting is a breath of fresh air but there is a glaring issue with it. Crafting in MMOs ALWAYS falls off a cliff if there is no form of permanent gear loss mechanic. Even in games like ESO where it takes a full year to hit max 9-trait crafting and there are a hundred different sets you can craft, things mostly sell at material cost.
Not sure what is left for me if I dont enjoy the combat and have zero faith in the crafting system. There is also Amazon hinting thar the game is going to be pay2win which is another huge negative aspect. If I was going to play a pay2win MMO I would just play BDO with it's vastly superior combat system
I started with completely zero expectations and now I can't stop playing ^^
Same here!
I think mounts are going to come but I’m concerned it will hurt open world pvp. Unless they introduce mounted combat!
tbh if they add mounts they should disable them if you are flagged.
@@Random_Guardsman possibly but that would feel bad as a pvp person watching everyone else ride around
@@jlaw1901 Fair, good point. Just feel when ever they add mounts in mmo's with heavy pvp focus it ruins it.

@@Nakiato Found it, much appreciated!
The thing about mounts is that flying mounts kill off the world.
Ground mounts may have some issues with certain mechanics/systems in the game but are not near to what flying mounts do.
In Lineage 2 (where I see some ideas for NW were taken from) only the leader of a clan who owned a castle could use a flying mount. So that were literally several people in the server.
Fast travel is quickly solved by removing it completely and introduce mounts. Faster the mount harder it is toget, incentive to grind.
Well fast travel costs azoth. It’s not free. So it’s ok I think
@@Starplaya It only cost something so they can sell it for real money.
You have it exactly right, the pace feels great. I play flagged all the time, and it makes the game so much more exciting. But I also feel in no rush to level. It's awesome how, scaling PvP, but also level progression PvE in the same world, works so well together in an optional context.
I pref to wait for chronicles of elyria or something like that :D
😂🤣
Oh yea….cannot wait to pick flowers!!! Lol! I’m definitely playing some new world this weekend
pff...earth2 is where it's at
Nah dawg dream worlds where it’s at 😂
Good luck with that
I really enjoy that you stay true and stick to your opinions for the pros and cons in a game. This is why I like your game impressions and reviews...
The problem with travel is that it's not dangerous enough. If they are going to require travel then traveling needs to be an experience as well. Think back to EverQuest 1 classic. There was LOTS of traveling and it took a significant amount of time. The difference between New World traveling and EQ1 classic traveling is that you were actually engaged with EQ1 traveling. It was extremely dangerous. There were serious penalties. You could die around any corner.
Turn on pvp if you want more danger.
Can anyone please explain to me how this isn't just a worse version of ESO with survival game elements added in? After 20 hours this has been my take. I wouldn't say its a bad game, but it doesn't doing anything particularly special or amazing. For me the combat, which is a big negative in ESO, is even more boring here. While attacks do feel more weighted and responsive than ESO, the 3 abilities per bar mixed with animation locking make combat woefully boring. I don't see how a game with a focus on pvp and zone control will last with such underwhelming combat.
Remove fast travel. Add a mount system. Ground only
I agree 1000000%
thats a bold statement but i actually agree. the biggest problem i had with the game was the god awful boring navigation of walking at the speed of a crippled toddler the entire game. id be glad to get rid of fast travel in exchange for faster ground navigation. i enjoyed the game and might give my money back to the game if i can have a more significant movement speed
@@BloodDripss i have the same problem atm. I just cant stand this walking simulator where u have to run 5miles to do a 5min quest and run 5miles back to town.
I'd rather have mounts that make me only a little bit faster than ever have to pay for a fast travel. That "monetizing a made-up problem" BS is a deal-breaker.
I agree remove it put mounts decent speed explore on the way ect have 1 hearth not sure why they thought fast travel was a good idea
Phat improvements since last Summer have made it very playable, and that's more than enough for me in 2021.
Two completely direction changes in the development process, sure are no concern whatsoever.
@@gehtdichnichtsan2418 If I were you I would go from comment to comment on RUclips videos letting everyone know.
I think the most important things you touched on were the hit boxes being odd at different elevations, and the crafting system possibly becoming redundant late game.
The crafting system really is cool and maybe the community can think of ways to have a non intrusive item sink together.
You hit the nail on the head with fast travel. A minor point but wish they also didnt call it 'fast travel', it feels too gamey. Wish they just made up some random term for it so it felt like it was a part of the world
wow really minor thing but its those things that contribute to the immersiveness of the game, good catch
microtransactions and pay to win are gonna ruin this game in the long run, mark my words
With the crafting thing, they could do something like Runescape have with their invention skill for example. Disassemble items for specific rare components. The components can be used to make "gismos" which can be made to hold perks that benefit the player and can be socketed into weapons tools and armour. It's a great item sink
I was hooked for the first few days until I realized literally every quest is the same. You can only have so much fun playing a walking simulator that has combat.
True of any MMO. They all use a variation of "go here, kill this" or "go here, collect that"
I played the beta on 2 characters to level 18ish. Doing exactly what youre doing as well. I got my experience, I love it, Im not going to burn through the content during beta though. Saving the rest of the game for launch when I can actually keep my progress. The first day I just spent mostly gathering and posting to the trading post. Was really interactive when selling materials to other players standing around the crafting benches. Second day was just purly leveling up weapons and finding a combo I liked. Really excited for launch.
I can't get in to it. The combat is still not good enough. They need to add animation cancelling/feinting attacks. It feels so unresponsive being locked in to long melee animations. It's especially noticeable with 2h axe and hammer. This guy made this video last summer during the preview event and nothing has changed. I've been in alpha for a year and melee has steadily gotten worse with the removal of stagger. I understand the removal in PVP but in PVE it makes no sense at all. I pre ordered to play the closed beta this week to check if anything was patched between alpha and CB. It wasn't so I've already refunded. ruclips.net/video/gJVQYO0MTnE/видео.html
I really wish he'd talk more about this. Combat is probably the single most important thing in an MMO to me. Sure you can have exploration, lore, story, crafting, etc. but combat is what you spend most of your time actually *doing* . And if it's not fun then the game isn't fun.
@@kevadu what you do most in new world is walking tho xD
@@kevadu Even the lore and story in this game is super lacking, char customization is lacking, NPCs are stale, quests are stale/bland, lore is practically non-existent, the end game is just repeatable quests doing the same shit. The only thing that is remotely enjoyable is crafting/gathering. This game feels incredibly indie, which isn't a bad thing on it's own, but this is lauded as a big mmo and FUNDED by Amazon. It sucks, no hiding it. And people who say "it's beta" that's just copium. If I could get a dollar for every early-access beta game that ended in failure or abandoned I could be a rich man.
look into Lost Ark! it’s an MMOARPG coming out in fall for the western release! Combat is amazing and progression is smooth and hard at the same time!
@@ppdiff6303 The games are nothing alike
I played it for 18 hours in 2 days and I am genuinely blown away at how much I love it. I had to force myself to stop for the same reason you spoke of - I dont want to burn myself out on it before the full release. Thanks for continuing to cover this. I'm cautiously optimistic about the game's future. I would much rather have mounts instead of fast travel points for the reasons you laid out.
Yeah I told my mates I would play for a few days to get a feel and that's it. Tbh I'm completely addicted it really is reminiscent to the wow early days
Great stuff as always!
One thing that I like about New World is that New Players begin their journey at different locations; this helps with the world not feeling empty. I do wish I had a horse tho!
I`ve starting playing this game. All my friends lvl 25+, so I needed to level up in order to catch then and do group content together. I've spent a total of 21 hours doing quests that are nothing but a boring walking simulator, and didn't even reach lvl 15 after that.
I had a similar issue. I wasn't doing town board quests. And then prioritize quests that are grouped together and easy ones. Abandon the hard or tedious ones.
I went from lvl 11 to 19 in like 45 minutes of just doing town board quests.
Same thing for me, even caught them. I was so incredibly bored of all the running to the same zones, doing the same kinda quests everywhere I go. The gameplay is interesting, but ultimately I don't enjoy it.
Exactly the game doesn't have a soul i.e a reasonable story behind quests to make them interesting. All this fetch quest is just too bad. It's evident that they rush to change the game direction without a storyline in mind. It's a bad version of ESO, a very bad one. Only thing that good is combat & the UI. I've also faced a lot of lag in town so after 2 days in Beta I refunded.
Do you think that hitting max level in 20 hours would be good for the game? They built this immersive world for people to spend time in it. It would be bad for the game if everyone that played it 1 day was max lvl, its an mmo, take your time and enjoy the social aspect.
well for crafting they can create duration based consumables for each prof like sharp stones of WoW which is made with Black Smithing. it's easy to implement and it will keep the profs relevant until the next expansion or patch.
I'm still a bit on the fence about buying this.
Fuck Amazon, fuck Bozo
It's really boring. I've been following the streamers from lvl 1-60 and there's no progression whatsoever. Fetch quests galore, same weapons, same 3 skills and same enemies throughout the journey. Was on the fence but now am off it.
Played it for 30+ hr.
The game still new, can't compare it with Older mmorpg that already have 5-10 years of development after release.
It's better wait until the game have more content.
But if they continue make a progress, it will be a really good game.
Edit: The minimum PC spec is kinda higher than most mmorpg and also it's not optimized yet (hope they can lower it).
Heard many people can't even run the game on their PC so better check the minimum requirement if you plan to buy it.
Basic and boring AF
I won a beta key 🗝️ looool thank you scottejaye
Gathering and crafting in this game is amazing and very addictive. Looove that i can gather resources from practically anything i see. It plays a huge part where i just go out and traverse and explore putting quests on more of a direction guide rather than a goal. I don’t feel like “one more and im done with this quest”, i kill mobs bc it’s fun, bc i help people out and i just chill in the world of the game. If only ESO felt the same way… NW also has that cozy fuzzy vibe about it that i haven’t felt since pre-Cata WoW…
Loved the video, and seriously want to thank you for keeping track of what's real in gamer space these days.
Kira man I'm just gonna say I appreciate your honesty the time I have been following you. As a person who doesn't really care for reviews and such. Your opinion really matters to me. We need that nowadays. Keep it up and I'm rooting for your success on this platform 👏
❤ thanks bro , I'll try my best not to disappoint.
I actually don't like level scaling. I like the feeling of coming back to a zone that was hard to make it through, but now being overleveled, and being able to steamroll through the mobs. Actually feeling like you are becoming more powerful is one of my favourite things about old school MMOs.
@KiraTV it’s surprising in a good way, that you, the probably biggest critic of the game among the famous RUclipsrs are now giving a positive feedback. Now that’s a reason why the game catches the attention of many people. You are not paid to shill, you have been dead honest and unforgiving with the game. Really impressive mate!
For the game I think fast travel is ok since it costs azoth doesn’t it? Why don’t they make it cost more azoth the more frequent you use it. So you can’t power teleport if you don’t want to waste all your resources. And if they wait a bit with using it, the cost decrease back down. I think that would be a good compromise and motivate people, to sometimes run a bit more often between towns.
I have a feeling that when everyone is max lvl and a cookie cutter build is established, its going to turn into a craft fest until you get lucky with a stat roll. Content is really what's going to make or break this game I reckon.
No shit, literally every game is successful depending on the content.
The other day I was playing, saw a bear... Thought it wouldn't be hard to kill. Proceed to attack it, it runs over, mauls me for like 500 HP... I start running away screaming on voip and this other guy was like "DON'T WORRY I GOT YOU!" We started fighting the bear and he almost died because he tanked it for me. In the end even though he did most damage he gave me all the loot it dropped.
THIS is what I miss from mmo's. This type of interaction... The only other MMO I've ever felt this connected with other people in was runescape ages ago
Loving it right now,

One thing I noticed in terms of crafting relevance in end game: it seems like all or most crafting professions can create buff items. Like the sharpening stone for weapons from smithing. Obviously that’s still lackluster though since there’s no progression
Seems kind of meh, its not different enough to be of interest. If i want to invest time in a game then its has to be worth it, which means it needs to be very different to anything before it, and new world just seems like every other mmo out there.
It actually is different, dive deeper, it's something else than the other generic mmo's.
@@dragons10000 will leave it a few months after release and see what people think, i would like it to be different.
@@TacBlades Me too, I also think other current mmo's lack diversity so they fail or capture small audience. I think New World offers a little different experience. Will see how it goes as the game dev progresses.
Hope you feel better mate. I kinda know what you're going through since a family member when through the same thing... Don't burn yourself out..
Travel in this game makes me feel like it's intentionally inconvenient so that they can sell something to make it better on the cash shop.
"Rewards you for just....doing what you want to do."
Yup, man. That's my biggest, most favorite positive thing about New World so far. Exactly that. Among other little issues, that's what I'm REALLY digging right now. Just hopping in, maybe getting some friends...and just doing stuff. And actually getting at least a small reward for it. I never feel like I'm wasting my time in NW. I'm always working toward something. I missed that.
Oh, and also Kira - Regarding the later concerns about fast travel - yeah, you have a point, but also if you notice the crafting components often require stuff that is gathered even from "lower level" areas. I feel like they are trying to give reasons to still occasionally have to go to previous areas, if only for some components, etc. Yeah, there's fast travel, but only like 2 or 3 places per region, which still means there's a lot of regular traveling. We'll see how it plays out, but I think I see what they're going for, and it could be at least "ok."
I have been pleasantly surprised with the beta, to be honest. I went in with zero expectations, and have logged close to 20 hours already this week. It feels REALLY good in a lot of ways.
It will be interesting to see what directions they go with things. The game definitely has an open-ended sandbox feel atm. I agree regarding crafting. They have to make it relevant for each type through endgame somehow as its a core pillar for the game.
The bones are there and they have shown they can take feedback and deliver changes. I just hope they don't take the easy way out and trim stuff that takes away from the core mmo experience.
The title - I literally was thinking the same thing. Probably for the second time in my life. And tbh, more so than when I was playing WoW.
Also, I think the sound design and plant density is like 33% or more of the enjoyment, they nailed it. Since the first minutes of beta launch, I have played the game 12-16h a day. Stopped now, just to somewhat reserve myself for the full launch, but I can already say that this IS already the best MMO we have had IN YEARS.
id like to see pvp respawned reworked in that while flagged you cant spawn at a campfire, but have to build a destructible bonfire that puts off some smoke and costs timber or something else to make
And is destroyable. Fighting over forts atm is ridiculous.
as annoying as elevation combat is
you might miss your CD but you now have the option of predicting when your enemy in pvp will use theirs and do the same back
(had a lot of fun playing around with the local pvp in valheim end game)
I'm really surprising by your position on this one. I'm enjoying myself too during this beta, glad that you have fun Kira !
I wouldn’t be too worried about crafting. ESO has a similar system, once you have a piece of gear crafted on a character you don’t need to replace it but there’s such a variation in builds that crafters will always have something to make
Also ESO’s approach to mounts is just that if you get hit it drains a stamina bar and if it’s empty you get knocked off your mount. I think that would be perfect
The war we had tonight was a shitshow. People weren’t even being teleported in lol.
That’s why this is beta don’t worry until launch and it’s still happening. Just report anything u run in to
Agreed anyone running any RTX graphics card should not be suffering slow downs at all. You should be able to run on low graphics with a rtx2060 at 60+fps anywhere in the game with screen full of players.
Unfortunately the gameplay loop is way to short. The game will be dead a month after release. The ambient style is good and the crafting is aswell but everything else lacks polish or even enough content. I can 99% gurantee it will not be the next big Mmo. The relaxing atmosphere will not be enough to keep most players around, the scope of the game is just to small to maintain itself.
The first few times I watched you I was like "wow this guy just kinda hates everything". And then over a few different videos, I realized I was just wrong, and you were a genuine critique that held good objective points. These days I value your opinion quite a bit, and if you say something is worth taking a look at I take note of that. This is a general comment and not about this specific video, I was planning on poking around in this as it is. :D
Thanks man , glad you saw the light 😄
This is one of those games that makes me *feel* like I shouldn't be playing it (because of bugs, performance, game design, etc.) and yet sure enough I find myself back playing it again. That's a mark of a good game. I think with several tweaks this could turn into something really good.
I know what you mean. With my friends I keep complaining "So much travel", "Shit quests", "Repetitive tasks"...and then it's 2am again and I want more.
Great video. Crafting it needs to be harder after 50. You should have to pick a specialization that gives you a slight boost to what you specialized in (Crafting, refining, and gathering). You can still gain xp in the others but it shouldn't be as high as your specialization.
Wow your graphics card didn’t explode
Yes guess what he put more then 5 minutes into setting up his computer 😉
@@IndicatedGoodLife they did cap their frame rate. So probably why XD
I didn't cap my framerate or anything , my graphics card is fine
@@KiraTV1 oh Amazon had a press release that said They (amazon) was capping the frame rate. I saw it on Someordinary’s channel.
When did you record footage? Just today?
@@Bored_Barbarian capped frame rate in menus.
I am definitely going to enjoy the grind because the group pvp in the open world is just a great experience. The random encounters with faction members, the ganks that are supplemented by wandering pvp members. It is just so good. See yall in the world!
The game is still not ready for release.. That's a problem when it comes to player retention "first" play experience.. "Content is gonna come down the road" - Masses of people don't come back when drops eventually happen or when they fixed the issues.
The only other thing is combat - is it really there yet? Unable to cancel an animation or dodge when you realize you have an incoming attack is crazy for this type of combat.
I hope it keeps getting delayed - I'd rather this game have the biggest chance of success by having the best first impression it can on release.. The memes poping up about "free to play w prime in 6 months" are onto something
Kira hope you alright man, make sure you drink a lot of water and try to stay positive,we are all in this shit together.
I got up to the point of picking your faction and said "Nope, I'll wait till launch so I don't burn myself out"
That's a good idea lmao. I was thinking the same but I'm lvl 21 now maxed out engineering and almost maxed out hatchet fml.
@@CHET_CHADDINGTON OOF! I've burned myself out of MMOs before by going HAM into the beta. Luckily I enjoyed New World for the 4 hours or so I played and went back to FF14 as I wait for August.
I played it so that in release I already know what I should do. Crafting has a steep learning curve. And people needs to manage side quest. Some quest can really waste your time. And weapon has separate experience needed.
It needs a mini map for navigating cities. Scrolling in and out of my huge map every minute is an absolute pain in the butt.
The moment I saw it 'Feels Like An MMORPG' I clicked....... but have to keep my hype down.
The gameplay loop is way to short. The game will be dead a month after release. The ambient style is good and the crafting is aswell but everything else lacks polish or even enough content. I can 99% gurantee it will not be the next big Mmo.
@@IndicatedGoodLife and people like you make games terrible so we will be happy when you leave.
@@dev8294 Why? Its just the fucking truth. On what kinda copium are you to not even discuss these issues?
@@dev8294 It common sense that this isnt a good game just from gameplay.
All of it looks off or wrong and you fight the same three mobs.
They didnt put much effort into the game and they want you to pay 40 dollars up front to play the game?
Hows that not a red flag? The game is gonna go f2p within a month and you'll have wasted $40.
Swg did crafting well in my opinion. They gave items durability, the item became zero'd through fighting, death etc etc...Once zero'd it could only be repaired up to a certain % and then til eventually you HAD to buy a new item. They also had professions that specialized in that field Armorsmiths, weaponsmiths. These roles were needed.
Mob aggro and tether distance feel off too. Otherwise, with life staff; time to swap to life staff, press ability button and self cast feels off
Yeah mob aggro doesn't work at all. You can hit an enemy then all of a sudden they run off half way across the map to a player wandering along the road.
They should introduce some sort of mechanics where you can disasemble high-tier items for very rare materials (with at least one super-duper-extra-rare) that could produce even more superior, upgradeable and sellable items. This way, people will still want to go raid over and over again, even after having most of the current top tier dungeon items. People could actually trade for those ultra rare materials. I know it means more grind, but that's one of the solutions to the problem.
It actually looks pretty good to be honest. Can't wait to try it out, and it's always possible that they fix the issues you had discussed as well.
I’m doing the exact same as you bro! Played it for a few days now I’m gonna leave it alone until it comes out! I’m buzzing for the full release!
Just how I have felt so far to, pretty stoked on it. I love the combat, trading, game world and graphics alot. Needs more added to the character creator and some improvement to optimization when people are in one area. Pretty hooked on it so far, not played an mmo this much since Ultima Online, its been fun.. something many modern mmos are not for me. Nice surprise for me so far, wasn't expecting alot.
I think a great option to the mount thing would be that you can just use your mount if you have not your PvP flagged ON so they don't have to think about skills or other player interaction with the mounts
Feeling conflicted now, Josh reviewed the game and called it "slightly above average". I hope the new standard for MMOs are not to be just slightly above average because then the future really looks dire.
well josh is biased against pvp centered mmo, just look at his review, for mortal and other pvp mmos
If you're not a PvPer then you might not find much in this game. Josh isn't a big PvP guy and admits he has that bias.
The problem is, even the pvp systems in this game are horrible. Most of players won't even be able to participate in fort wars. Outpust rush is a lvl 60 activity. And world pvp is a joke, you either get ganked 5v1 or you fight in a fort with a zerg for 15-20minutes just to realize how boring and pointless it is.
I gotta be honest dude, ive been crafting and fast traveling all over, and i've basically been capped on azoth the entire time ive played. I also have to do enough running around for questing and gathering, as well as running with groups of my faction to take forts, that even though ive seen the zone enough times, we have to run to the fort, and it doesnt feel obtrusive. I see a lot of people really worried about fast travel being monetized, but i dont see it as an issue in the current build of the game.
I was the same! 'I'll just have a quick look' then 5 hours had passed XD Hope all is good with you :)
gotta say the support has been insane made a thread about an issue within two hours a mod commented and resolved the issue
I'm not interested in this game, but that was a good and fair review, I think. Watching the combat and the harvesting mechanics you displayed in the beginning of the video did make me feel like there are parts up my alley.
That water splashing animation was real bad. Hope that's just a place holder. The world design looks very pretty, though.
I don't think it will compete with BDO tho. At least to me, it has the most satisfying feel to it when done with no major goal in mind. I've done it in every major mmorpg but none come close to the enjoyment I get from killing time with gathering and crafting in BDO, too bad the competitive side is ridiculously out of reach for casual players.
@@Relhio, I hear you. I got really addicted to BDO before I was able to pry myself away from it. There was plenty in BDO I didn't agree with, however, like that fucken wretched energy system for life skills.
We have to create more avenues to extract as much money as we can! Shit is gross and upsetting. Just let people play the game.
"Water splashing animation" maybe after they introduce the swimming animations.
Yes, not joking. The game doesn't have swimming, yet you access water.
@@TheCooderix XD
That would explaina little bit! I thought this game was supposed to come out relatively soon. Kinda sus that's missing 🤔 back to the drawing boards, men! We can't nail this swimming animation, or this damned fog of war
@@LaserStorm117 Wouldn't blame you for thinking it seems unfinished. Honestly, there's quite a lot of that in this game.
However, ultimately I think it's fine. I actually think it's a very fun game, but it does worry me that it's one month until its release. We all should be.
The decision to not include mounts, is a bit odd. Especially considering the size of what we currently have in the beta. Map wise
Ye but I think they made the right call. I feel like they're trying to make new world an exploration game. Which is fitting since it takes place during the age of exploration. Your supposed to feel like you "Exploring the supernatural island of Eaternum." I think this is also why they obviously put so much work into the world building. but in order for that they can't have mounts as player would most likely quickly move between destinations and the exploration feel of the game would disappear. I experienced this when playing bdo. For my first run through I didn't know how to get a mount, however this let me enjoy the game alot more than if I did. I would wander into areas which I wasn't necessarily supposed and followed the main quest line spontaneously.
@@jakubj2827 even making mounts that have 2x run speed would be fantastic for end game players and still allow for exploration for newer players. Its the fast travel that gets rid of exploration!!!
Fun game. Combat is lacking. Needs more abilities and less animation locks.
I see alot of people complaining about combat being bad or clunky and lack of skills. You feel this way because you are bad at the game. Go play WoW this is not for you.
@@AllEy3s0nMe If a lot of people are complaining about the biggest part of the game which is combat that's a problem. It will also lead people to get bored and the game will die. The combat was so bad before they had to completely redo it. So my skill at playing the game has nothing to do with the combat being poorly implemented.
@@Treyson31 Valid points. With cooldowns implemented properly you could easily avoid spamming button problems. I'm not saying have 30 abilities like WOW. But a few more would add a bit more excitement to combat. The game is brand new. It will get boring 100s of hours into it with such a simplistic combat system.
I have to say the social element is soo damn good, I had a situations were I was waiting for a mob to spawn next to another person. As we waited we both just bs about the game and different aspects of it and traded info with each other by using the proximity mic feature. It felt so damn good to have that social element! Also the chat feature of having faction speak was awesome to see.
Honestly don't think I get it. The quests are so bland and repetitive, there's no character to the world. Each town is essentially the same, you fight the same zombie pirate mobs who live in the same two types of ruined structures. Combat is dreadful and crafting is dull, gathering is relatively interesting I guess but it's clearly at higher levels going to turn into a walking simulator finding rare nodes in zones you've been through for hours
Even the dungeons feel like what a mmo should feel like. If you go under geared or less people than needed you get punished and I love it
New World is difficult? I feel like we're playing a different game, the game is one of the easiest and most brainless I have ever played. There is almost no thought and strategy involved, especially with multiple players. The entire combat is just mindlessly mashing m1, even with dodge roll not working half the time because of server desync, there is very low risk of dying.
The only difficulty in the game I've experienced is just the slow traveling and trying to tag mobs. I have no idea where is this difficulty you were talking about.
(Never intended to post on this name) Anyway, I went in not wanting to grind my face off to just do it again too. For me, it's been the most immersive for whatever reason, than anything I've played in a long time.
Second day in, morning log-in, the Company of another faction that was recruiting everyone to having 3 installments (Up to 300x members) had grabbed the first territory night prior. Talk picked up in syndicate chat and spontaneous grab of a watchtower in their region. Later to find out the majority fo them had exploited to 60. When the actual contest for the territory came for them, -- What ended up confusing my company: we had a scheduled invasion for 48 hoursish of Corruption pending; you can still have war declared by another Company, having the fight for the territory within 24 hour notice.
I dig it. The aggro-mechanisms for 'expedition' dungeons will prove interesting.. no rhyme or reason in my tank attempt. Just spells adventure.
