I have the same crossbars (excellent idea - and cheap!), and it appears the exact same roof basket.
I used 2" diameter heat-shrink tubing to cover the crossbars to prevent wind noise.
I love the padding; another idea I'll have to keep in mind. I'm not at all handy with a sewing machine though, so I'd probably have to resort to zip ties to attach it.
How about using spray adhesive to attach the marine fabric to the pool noodle, tucking it in of course? I don't sew either.
The goat string was for goat leggings to use for devil worshiping. (Dragnet a comedy movie with Dan Aykroyd ). Looks like it worked out the kayaks on and try it out. Have fun traveling and stay safe.
