    The Die Hard 1150 will inflate the van tire (ask me how I know) but you have to be patient. The one downside of this pack is the weight, but I just did a lithium upgrade to mine and it makes a huge difference. I’ll cover it in my next video. Great channel/I love your ideas!

      Oh, sorry you had to find out the hard way 🙄😜 I love the idea of upgrading the battery in the DieHard. Did you upgrade for more power as well as less weight?

    That’s a really clever use of the window wells. I’ve sat there wondering how to use that wasted space, but this never occurred to me!

      Hi OC! I, too, would sit there for hours and just obsess about how to use that window space. Actually, all the space. Glad I'm not alone... what year is your Odyssey?

      I've seen people purchase little shelving units that usually go in your laundry room between things and put them up there in the window wells of minivans... it works great and it gives them more shelving.

    Hello; With regards to your battery jump starter; I own a similar unit made by Schumacher. It has as 18 amp hour AGM battery and I will soon replace it with a 22 amp hour AGM battery of the same dimensions for more power depth. Access panel on lower backside of unit.
    The compressor is plastic and aluminum and the size of your fist and only for occasional use. It will get hot trying to fill a tire but will do the job if allowed to cool down in 2 or 3 stages. Never all in a single use. I added a latch on type of hose fitting (as seen on bicycle pumps) to mine to replace the annoying (for my use) screw thread hose end fitting. Less chance of losing pressure when removing the hose.
    Tire plug kit will work well. Expect the need to apply a LOT of pressure with the tool that widens the hole for the plug. The steel radial core of the tire will resist your efforts to make the hole for the plug larger. Purchase a tire pressure gauge and store it with the repair kit. Store a utility knife blade (taped edge) in the kit to cut the plug down to size.
    Pour over coffee works well enough for my use. Mine is stainless steel and needs no filter; no trash to dispose. John

      @@TheVanThatGotAway Hello again, Poking around online i found an adapter for the 1 pound green propane bottles to convert to buthane stove use, That would work on the "BACKPACKER' THERMACELL also. A search online will also yield cheaper repellent mats from CHINA priced far below the THERMACELL prices.

    Greetings from Canada! Thanks for this video. Have you tried packing cubes for your clothes? I travel for a living and I swear by them. We just started using them in our minivan - one for me and one for DH. It took me a while to convince him that packing cubes would work but after our first camping trip with them, he begrudgingly had to admit I had a point. LOL
    I'm interested in knowing how that Thermacell will work for you. I've heard mixed things about it but haven't seen that model yet. I will check out Steve's review too.
    We also have a screened tent but it's big, heavy, and bulky and it is a pain in the gluteus to put up. We end up having the same kind of unpleasant exchanges that most couples have when trying to back up a trailer. (if ya, know what I mean) Recently, the Amazon guy delivered a pop-up ice fishing tent that we're planning to try. I got the idea from watching a Camping With Kim video where she had one for a recent winter camping trip. Because I travel all summer, we wind up camping mostly in the fall and winter so I'm hoping this ice tent thingy will do the trick. Anyway, thanks again for the video!

    Do you ever get condensation on those rear quarter windows? That could be a place where mold might grow

    • @TheVanThatGotAway
      @TheVanThatGotAway  Год назад

      No, I was all ready for mold to be an issue but it hasn't so far. And we've had a lot of condensation when we got caught camping in cold weather. But it seems to dry out quickly. Thanks for asking!

    Hello, I'm new subscriber. I like your channel. I am converting my van & I have a question about the floor after the seats are removed. The metal hooks are very uncomfortable. What would you suggest for padding?

    • @TheVanThatGotAway
      @TheVanThatGotAway  Год назад

      Well hi YPC and welcome! Those metal hooks are a real pain, right? I just built around them so we weren't stepping on them. We don't have much "floor space" anyway, so for the little patch that we do walk on, I just put down some of that heavy duty clear carpet protector. Never had a problem. If I were really trying to avoid those nasty hooks, I would have used a piece of plywood for flooring, fitted it around the hooks and put down a small carpet or doormat to minimize stepping on any bumps.
      I figured if plan A didn't work, I could always try the plywood later. But so far, so good. Thanks for asking. What type of van are you working with?

      @@TheVanThatGotAway Hello, I'd like to apologize for the late response. I just read your email & it was conveniently tucked away in my spam folder..😄😒. Thank you for your reply & information. I will definitely try the carpet padding!😃👍 I am also in the process of making window coverings. I'm video recording the whole project from start to finish. (Not sure how to post it on RUclips yet😄) I have a 2008 kia sedona. I love my van. It has a lot of sentimental value. What type of van do you have?
