The trick is to pull the rod back out of the base to put it into the fabric corner, then it's much easier to put that back into its hole with the fabric attached than to put it into the fabric with it already in its hole

I returned mine because the setup was too stressful. As you pointed out, I'm at a point where this would not work for me. I made peace with my Walmart chair and the cup holder 😂! Thank you for your thorough reviews...😊

I work in "the outdoor industry" so I've tried every chair known to man. I keep going back to standard fixed seat chairs - think your basic folding chair at church but with fabric instead of plastic. I'm 6'1" and a smidge over 200 lbs. and compact chairs just do not cut it for me. Between getting in the chair, balancing in the chair, and getting out of the chair, I often end up on the ground or straining something. Not worth the hassle for me. The other thing I have is one of those aluminum chaise lounge things you can get at Long's and places like that - perfect for stargazing or laying around!

@@TheVanThatGotAway I have a friend who is about to resume full-timing in her car after months working the nomad side of Digikey in Minnesota. She's always looking for ultraportable solutions to common needs. I sent her your video and she agrees with you that this one is too fiddly... "Too many moving parts!", she said. She has a YT that's her "secret" journal to eventually share with her daughters (who think mom's gone off her rocker with this "Gone traveling to find myself" thing). Clever design overall; it’s similar to the one I bought when you did the last chair review. With new stuff there is a learning curve. Try setting it up a couple more times. When you put the seat fabric on the two bottom poles, brace the chair frame against the ground or your body for leverage-much easier to control and easier on your wrists. Part of the difficulty certainly must be the stress of filming it right out of the box. You’re braver than I.
When you do reviews of gear that is recommended for backpacking specifically, state the weight (2.3 lbs) and what kind of fabric; this one is polyester. Adding this info and a #Backpacking tag, the algorithm will put you more places.
I liked the chair. All things considered, price, size, weight, it’s a pretty good deal. Thanks as always for doing the dirty work🌿

Have you thought of the ground cover that fits on the bottom of some portable chairs to help keep legs from sinking in softer ground or snow?

I’m still testing my new chair for full time vanlife, but so far I love it! I don’t have the brand, but purchased it at Costco about 6 weeks ago. It is a knockoff of the Nemo Stargazer, but neither as lightweight nor as compact 😢. BUT, it is easy as pie to set up, the seat is high enough for my arthritic knees, has arms to help me get up, and it ROCKS! It seems very sturdy and well made, for only $39! Worth the space in my cartop carrier for campsite comfort.

Nope nope nope. ;) Camp chairs are too important for those of us who might end up sitting all day in a camp chair while working. We'll stick with our Zip-Dees. Solid wood arms to push up against, opens up and is usable in 2 seconds, and will literally last decades (we were using Zip Dees my grandparents bought, parents used, then passed down, but they got stolen. I tried something else but ended up buying another set of used ZipDees off eBay.)
