  • I finish bringing in stuff from the garage for the upcoming sale. As I'm relaxing in bed, I hear a rainstorm outside and blowing wind and then a loud CRASH sound! I can't believe what just blew into my backyard! The surprises never end.

That Brother is an embroidery machine. Probably top of the line in it's day. It's a specialty machine hence the cost new.

Mindy why don't you offer the hedge tools to the landscaper. Sell them as a bundle. Or let him deduct it from his bill. Also don't worry so much about the door to the shed. Ask them to putty the dent and paint it for you. Doesn't look too damaged and you have so much on your plate right now.

Oh gosh…projector screens, dust busters, old brooms, old sewing machines…honestly, our time & sanity worth so much more than trying to find perfect home/max cash. IMHO Id be getting a dumpster (after a “free” sale day) and get it gone, closure. We did w/our dads stuff (60 yr hoard). Life is short. Best wishes

Shed door looks like just minor damage. As long as door opens and closes it is not a big deal. Maybe neighbor can have a handyman come over and fix it. Insurance claims are for major damages not small cosmetic issues. What do you like to do - visit museums, walk in parks, hang out at coffee shops, go to movies, etc? Maybe take a day off from sorting and do something fun. Walk around an interesting part of town, go out to lunch. Have fun and not think about the house for a few hours. This might help refresh you physically, mentally, spiritually. You are doing a great job and have accomplished so much. It is easy to get caught up in all that remains to be done and not realize all you have accomplished so far….a heck of a lot for sure. Wishing you the best. Take care of the kitties. ❤️❤️❤️

For our sake of mind, we sold all of my father in law’s tools for $10.00 dollars , and this were lawnmower, commercial vacuum and equipment worth hundreds of money. We just wanted it out of the house for our peace of mind and everything sold in one day. It’s not worth the trouble, but everyone is different. Did the same with my mother in laws stuff.

@@libertywest5835 It’s ok to hold on if it makes you happy and will be of use in the future. Specially for your son to use. My Father in law was into construction and had tons of tools and equipment. I got rid of all my Stepdad’s things after he passed. Only kept a few things that really reminded me of him. Everyone is different. But when it becomes a chore and tiring then it’s time to let them go.

Funny that you’re driving a car that was cheaper than your mom’s one sewing machine. It made me giggle. I got solar yard lights because everything I planted in Utah died in the summer heat, they were “ flower” replacements. The DISORDER around you really can drain your spirit, and messiness is normal as things get shuffled while sorting. Awe, coco, thanks for singing me the song of your people ( purring ). I always look forward to your updates Mindy. Your journey inspires me as I sort through my hoard. 🙂thank you for sharing🌻

Definitely don't file a claim for that damage. Every claim becomes a permanent part of the insurance record for the property, and at minimum can cause increased insurance rates. Cumulative claims absolutely can get you canceled, and all insurance companies have access to the claims history and will either deny coverage or charge higher rates.
