- In this video, I share footage of my October return trip to Isla Guadalupe. October is all about large female white sharks. I came face to face with the largest shark I've ever seen. I also explain how different it is here in August compared to late October. I filmed shark jumping straight out of the water, and the seals along the rugged coast with large sharks nearby. I met a Great White while Abalone hunting near Catalina Island and it was the scariest experience I can recall, bar none. I only had a mask, fins and snorkel and had to hold my breath longer than I've ever held it before, as it passed overhead. I had just pulled an Abalone and was about to push off the bottom to the surface when I saw it coming straight at me from maybe 50 ft away. I just kind of hunkered down in a crevice of rock while it passe by. Being less than ten feet from something so large and powerful was both horrifying and exhilarating at the same time.
Idk how people can go to waters with sharks and abalone hunting is so risky. I love seeing docs about it :) if it was not for the sharks it would be a great profession altough in australia etc there’s probably other dangerous and not just sharks 🤭

I have come across quite a few great whites while spear fishing in False Bay.Although it was a quite a scary experence fo me ,they just seemed curious.I have fond memories of spear fishing off Catalina Island when I was in the States.
I suppose if you are lucky enough to cross their path when they are not hungry, it ends well.
So that shark knew long before you were there because of its electric sense. So probably would have been no difference to go to the surface?

I have been fascinated with great white sharks my entire life. Read countless books, watched countless documentary films on them. This is the first time someone has explained so clearly the difference between males and females.

Like with lions and tigers, admire but respect them; they're beautiful and graceful but they are also predators.
I think a lot of people, myself included always look forward to anything you do here. Your content from the superb photography, the well thought out commentary, and your passion for all of the sea's creatures and commitment to be a positive influence are just outstanding! You mention "each with their own personality". I keep telling people sharks have individual personalities. Especially the hammerheads I've dived with. Some are shy, some are inquisitive. Same goes for mantas (some LOVE diver bubbles)...but none more so than tigersharks off the Aliwal Shoal in South Africa who react differently to divers they recognize. Gentle giants indeed.

Nothing is more calming and relaxing than being in a cage while a massive beast circles you salivating. You throw in some death metal for ambiance and I meditate into nirvana.
I'm not one to often take the time and leave a comment on RUclips videos but this one is absolutely AMAZING. This is probably some of the most gorgeus, if not the THE most beautiful, footage of great whites I saw in a very long time. I watched this on my TV the other night and lord was I blown away by what displayed! Thanks for your passionate work that transpires in every shot and for shedding a kind and peaceful light on those creatures!

Nobody HAS to cage dive.
A Marine Biologist, Robert Marc Lehmann, recently talked about cage diving and does NOT recommend it, because it contains a lot of risk for divers and for sharks. He talked about it while commenting on a video that showed an accident with cage diving, where the (great white i think) sharks head got stuck in the cage and the shark couldn't get out (cause a shark cannot swim backwards), got seriously injured and died.
I've always been in awe of these amazing white sharks 🦈. They're so graceful as they glide past the camera. Videos like these will hopefully bring awareness to how beautiful and needed these animals are❤❤

The sharks must be counting their blessings every day that Orca don't find out about this place otherwise it's all over for them, they'd have to find somewhere else - amazing footage.
If you live in the ocean and are alive it’s generally only because orcas either don’t know where you are or don’t consider you worth bothering with
Orcas actual don't seem to usually turn up to places high in great white convergence and lingering. Only occasionally. Probably for the safety of their young ones.
If orcas routinely seeked out and targeted great whites then they'd be turning up at great white hot spots frequently. They don't.
I suspect when great whites get too close to orcas then they might sometimes attack them. This is what happened at the Farallon Islands in 1997. They were there to attack sea lions. A juvenile great white then appeared and swam towards them and was then killed.
Orca v great white is rare.
@@mrgaudy1954 Actually you will be fine . Orcas are you safest bet if you're swimming in area around them from Great Whites
I had the privilege of going in 2015. It was three days I'll never forget.
Being in the water with several great whites at a time was breathtaking.

Wow I can feel the fear and excitement from viewing these sharks from the comfort of my home. Thankyou that some exceptional footage.
Absolutely Amazing footage!! Certain channels or shows always try to make them look so fierce and aggressive- but it’s nice to see them as calm, graceful animals as well. It’s amazing to just observe wildlife as it is instead of whipping them into a frenzy and getting the same shots over and over.

Awesome. I'm a big believer in live and let live. I've got a fee gardener(?) snakes that sunbathe in my front and back yard depending on the time of year. I warn my lawn guys to NOT hurt them. They kill rats! I can walk by them as long as I'm not looking at or talking to them. It works with most wildlife. That way, I can enjoy them better and they live in peace on my property.
I have been in aw of these amazing creatures for as long as I can remember. I have known since childhood that they were not the man-eating machines that people thought they were. Thank you for what you do to share the value of these animals with others!!
You should go watch a bunch of the Sharks Happen videos here on RUclips. I have to disagree with you that they aren’t man eaters. They quite literally have eaten many men, women and children.

I love their pectoral fins for some reason. As a pilot I love aerodynamics and hydrodynamics are very similar so I always think of them as wings.
