Your ability to keep the shark and the humans in the same frame at all times illustrates your mastery of drone piloting better in this remarkable footage than in many I've seen posted in the past. Each episode you film raises the bar a few notches higher. I hate to say this but it is almost inevitable that your drone will one day record a shark predation, hopefully of a seal and not of a human being.
@TruFrag honestly believe he 100% averted one from happening here. Can't prove it but my gut tells me at a minimum that shark was getting ready to give a so called "exploratory bite "
More likely, the shark would have gone for the fish, if that. There is another video by Malibu Artist showing a kayak fisherman with a caught mid-size, live halibut hanging in the water to keep the catch fresh. A large GWS repeatedly comes in close to take a look, but never goes for the halibut. Of course, the kayak fisherman is clueless despite the drone's attempt to get his attention. In neither video does the shark display fast movements or any other aggressive behavior, which surprises me given that in both cases there is actually live bait in the water. I think it goes to show that GWSs aren't nearly as gung-ho about getting a free meal, much less attacking people, as we are led to believe by mainstream media. It's not that they are not hungry. They are. But they are generally very careful predators. Hence also the usual test bite (which minimizes the shark's injury potential by avoiding an unnecessary struggle with the prey item, usually a seal or seal lion) There is one caveat, however: Some accounts suggest that GWS behavior may be quite different - less benign - in other places, such as South Africa or Australia. Southern California could be an outlier. If so, the obvious question is why. Maybe, one day, Malibu Artist will have a chance to study GWS behavior with his drone in other localities to see whether there are any observable differences.

There are 2 GWS that swim together the majority of the time called ‘the twins’. They are both male and almost identical as twin brothers would be. The are fascinating to watch and you can look to find some footage of them and how they live their shared lives. Not only was the shark interested in the struggling fish but also the motor and blades send off electric currents that make their ampuli of Lorenzini react and freak out. I have been surfing since 1976. You can't see the sharks when you are in the water. In all that time I have only seen 3 sharks. only because they showed their fin above water. All three in Carpinteria, Ca. We used to spear fish a lot in the 80's and 90's. never saw a shark bigger than 5 feet mostly leopard sharks. I have seen 2 big great whites breach off the coast of Ventura maybe 200 yards out near the harbor entrance.
Damn that had me going for a second. Never realized how big the shark is until it was near people. Very beautiful shark. I wonder if researchers contact malibu for coordinates to figure out which individuals he has captured on camera?

I love seeing the contrast in size when you get to close encounters between people on small boats and sharks that get curious enough to investigate their presence, amazing footage once again!
I always look forward to your great work and insight. Thank you. I believe the Pacific ocean is Earth's greatest physical feature, and these sharks are clearly part of that beauty.
In the past month two surfers were completely devoured by white sharks, one in San francisco and the other in streaky bay, australia. In both cases, neither were fishing, and both were eaten completely by the shark, just like simon nelist and countless others. Sharks are magnificent animals, but to say, "in nearly all negative shark encounters they are hanging fish nearby" is not accurate at all. Beautiful footage
We’ve just had another White Shark fatality in Streaky Bay South Australia last week. Surfer Todd Gendle was taken by a large 4 metre shark near Granites Beach
Definitely shark was attracted to fishermens' catch. I am a spear fisherman, my crew immediately get rid of speared fish, if our boat or a kayak is around, or we attach it to a buoy with a stringer. Sometimes sharks come and take it, at least fishermen are safe.
Fantastic drone footage and narration. I’m really enjoying watching this channel. It’s nice to see aerial footage of these beautiful sharks gliding along our California coast.
Wow, you may have been instrumental in saving that fisherman's life! I really enjoy your videos and your calm commentary. I also fly a drone, but have not, so far, managed to catch wildlife like you do.
Truly baffling to me that someone would think to go for a swim right next to a dying or just deceased fish, in prime great white territory. Either incredibly zen or very neglectful.
Stunning photography, great narrative, thank you for all of your work and insights. (I just became a donor to help you with your research. Wish it could be more!)
Awesome footage of the Great White. It's safe to say that people don't pay attention when they are in the Ocean. Thank goodness you had your drone and was finally able to warn the fishermen.
Shark associates fishing boats with food, suddenly large food is in the water by the boat, time to check it out. Could tell they really appreciated the heads up.
Excellent video again. Footage and commentary like this helps dispel myths that sharks are mindless man eating machines. They are, rather, very intelligent, purposeful beings capable of differentiating between what's on their menu and what is not. Being in the water next to captured and stressed fish is not a good idea, as seen here. Thanks for the incredible footage.
This is great footage and I hope more people especially those out there exploring the wide ocean can be more aware of the environment that they're swimming in.
Wow, great content and appreciate your helping those guys out! I used to live on the beach on Malibu Road and was in the water almost every day surfing, free diving, or paddle boarding - never once saw a Great White but knew they were out there somewhere!
spear fishing is already pretty crazy, but to do it with great white sharks around is terrifying. Even if sharks don't usually attack humans I'm not taking that risk lol.
As always your content is amazing, well done... From South Australia, we had yet another surfer taken by a Great White shark off our West Coast this past week. He was in a group of about 15 other surfers. Wondering whether they should start using drones in this manner as a safe guard. Area is also known for seals and sea lions...
Your work has really helped me regard great whites with less fear and more respect. Thank you for helping me get over a lifetime of Jaws-inspired phobia.
Stupid behaviour from that man, who swims next to fish that they’ve caught, hopefully he learned a very valuable lesson, and realised how lucky he was, another amazing video of these beautiful sharks, tfs Julie 🇬🇧
Thank you - need to show these videos to my son. He loves animals and sharks being a favorite. Your video is a great educational tool for him. Thank you.
Any animal that’s considered “small / juvenile“ at 10ft. long, is an animal I’d like to avoid. What did Chef say in the great ‘Apocalypse Now’? “Never get out of the boat!”
At 4:48 you can see the guy in the wetsuit lower the caught fish into the sea. Then at 5:03 when they notice the drone for the first time and wave, the wetsuit man pulls out the catch bundle to show the drone.
Really cool video. My anxiety when the shark was heading for the guy in the water and then relief when they realized your intentions. Awesome footage. I wonder if they ever made the connection with the sharks' attraction.
Today, I saw a shark near Red Reef Park in Boca Raton. The water was calm, so as a keen swimmer, I went a bit deeper than usual, to about 5 feet deep. The shark was brownish in color and around 2 feet long. It swam deep close to the sand. I screamed BABY SHARK!!! and swam to the shore - as if that would have made a difference had the shark wanted anything with me. Now, I've been researching about sharks all day. This is the best videoI’ve seen yet. I can’t get over the fact that I came this close to a shark and from all the research I’ve done, I’ve come to the conclusion that they have been unfairly portrayed as villains.
Actually they're social creatures that even sometimes hunt in pairs and share food. They aren't always solitary. That's a really good capture, very educational. I hope those men realise eventually.

Oh boy! You had my heart beating fast on this one! Wonderful video as always!
We’ve just had another White Shark fatality in Streaky Bay South Australia last week. Surfer Todd Gendle was taken by a large 4 metre shark near Granites Beach
Your filming is exquisite! Love the two jumping porpoises in the beginning. Your drone footage of the sharks is elegant. ❤ 🦈
Thanks so much!
Definitely shark was attracted to fishermens' catch. I am a spear fisherman, my crew immediately get rid of speared fish, if our boat or a kayak is around, or we attach it to a buoy with a stringer. Sometimes sharks come and take it, at least fishermen are safe.
Love your channel! One of few I have notifications on 😊, been a shark fan since childhood. Appreciate your videos
Awesome! Thank you!
That guy entered the water needing a number 1 but left while having a number 2 😂
Awesome footage of the Great White. It's safe to say that people don't pay attention when they are in the Ocean. Thank goodness you had your drone and was finally able to warn the fishermen.
Some people… a lot, maybe, unfortunately
It’s a good thing that guy had a friend on the boat when he did. Great clip and great job alerting the guys!!
What We Do In The Shallows - The brand new Great White comedy show
Shark associates fishing boats with food, suddenly large food is in the water by the boat, time to check it out.
Thanks for the incredible footage.
you need to tape a walkie talkie to that thing 🤣
This is great footage and I hope more people especially those out there exploring the wide ocean can be more aware of the environment that they're swimming in.
You should add a walkie talkie or speaker or something to your drone. Seems like common sense to me.
Wow, great content and appreciate your helping those guys out! I used to live on the beach on Malibu Road and was in the water almost every day surfing, free diving, or paddle boarding - never once saw a Great White but knew they were out there somewhere!
I know they appreciated that! I want to say to you; good looking out!
spear fishing is already pretty crazy, but to do it with great white sharks around is terrifying. Even if sharks don't usually attack humans I'm not taking that risk lol.
wow! Great job MalibuArtist! Great video, and example of why this is one of best channels on RUclips.
Thanks so much!
As always your content is amazing, well done...
From South Australia, we had yet another surfer taken by a Great White shark off our West Coast this past week. He was in a group of about 15 other surfers. Wondering whether they should start using drones in this manner as a safe guard. Area is also known for seals and sea lions...
or maybe dumb shits should stay out of the ocean
Your work has really helped me regard great whites with less fear and more respect. Thank you for helping me get over a lifetime of Jaws-inspired phobia.
Stupid behaviour from that man, who swims next to fish that they’ve caught, hopefully he learned a very valuable lesson, and realised how lucky he was, another amazing video of these beautiful sharks, tfs Julie 🇬🇧
Absolutely clueless 'fishermen'
Should put a siren on that drone or something that has a warning sound.
That was suspenseful. I hope those guys will become aware of what brought this about.
Thank you - need to show these videos to my son. He loves animals and sharks being a favorite. Your video is a great educational tool for him. Thank you.
Such beautiful footage and thoughtful commentary
Bro you should totally mount an alarm that you can trigger to say "shark in proximity" or something 😅
Any animal that’s considered “small / juvenile“ at 10ft. long, is an animal I’d like to avoid.
What did Chef say in the great ‘Apocalypse Now’? “Never get out of the boat!”
Good video and an enjoyable watch mate I'll sub
Why don't they put speakers and mic's on drones so you can warn people of approaching danger.
Great idea!!
Really beautiful footage. Nice camera work bro...spot on narration too buddy...good stuff thanks so much and more please!!!🦈🦈🦈💖💖💖☮️☮️☮️🦋🦋🦋
At 4:48 you can see the guy in the wetsuit lower the caught fish into the sea. Then at 5:03 when they notice the drone for the first time and wave, the wetsuit man pulls out the catch bundle to show the drone.
Appreciate you Malibu Artist 👍
This was quite a capture #MalibuArtist, thanks
That shark picked up speed...he was going to have a feed.
Really cool video. My anxiety when the shark was heading for the guy in the water and then relief when they realized your intentions. Awesome footage. I wonder if they ever made the connection with the sharks' attraction.
Two thumbs up mate ! Logical actions, wise words ! 👏👏👏👍👍
Cooling off in the worst place possible. You might’ve saved that man’s life.
Sharks know if there are boats around, that there is almost always a free feed
Is crazy that this is free to watch, your work is amazing!
Shark not stupid
He knew he was on RUclips
Didn’t want to make a scene and set off the RUclips algorithms
So he left peacefully
