    Ask the doctor if he ever cloned himself.

      This is old news. Why would a doctor clone himself? When he can clone a super doctor with another old tech crispr.
      I'm sure X-Men tech exists as well but we normies won't know about it but for sure be paying for it.

    Thank you so much for this informative video! I used it and your references as the basis for my research for my assignment. Unlike the module that the school has provided, this one is way too easy to understand. Once again, Thank you Very Much!

    By the time they cloned dolly they didn't know about the reprogrammation of somatic cells into pluripotent cells so how did they succeed to do it ? I think it was discovered just recently in 2012 by gurdon and yamanaka so was it accidental ?

    • @understandinganimalresearch
      @understandinganimalresearch  Год назад +1

      Good question. I'm afraid I don't know the answer. I vaguely remember they made hundreds of attempts before being successful, so a degree of luck, but as they had set out to clone, I don't think it was accidental.

    I have a question why use the egg from sheep 2 to insert cells from sheep 1 why not insert shells into sheep 1's egg itself?

    • @3th4n_ol26

      In the video, they say they did this so they could tell if the offspring was a clone, as the offspring should have a different colour face to the surrogate.
      There were probably other reasons, too, though.

      There is a process called transgenic where we fuse two different cell of different organism .so basically its a experiment where a donor and recepient are used to see the results of forming cell

    How did the enucleated ovum undergo the multiplication without having a nucleus to express the necessary genes to do so?

    • @mairead3361
      @mairead3361 10 месяцев назад +2

      The cell culture from sheep 1 (white faced sheep) had been fused with sheep 2 (black faced sheep) and with it its nucleus. The offspring sheep had a white face proving that it was a clone of sheep 1, meaning that it had the exact genetic information
      The genes (sheep 1) were expressed from the mothers embryonic signalling (sheep 2)
      Sheep 2 was just used for its embryo (cell signalling and cell differentiation)
      Sheep 3 was used for gestation
      Sheep 1 was the only sheep that contributed genetically (hence Dolly is a clone)

    Isn't this more closely related to IVF than "cloning"?

    • @user-nz3ll5fi1t
      @user-nz3ll5fi1t 5 месяцев назад

      While they indeed implanted the egg into the surrogate sheep via IVF, the lamb that was born (dolly) was completely genetically identical to the older dolly whose DNA they extracted and implanted into the donor egg, so for lack of a better word, they did “clone” her

    • @understandinganimalresearch

      I think the mitochondrial DNA came from the 'host' cell, the one receiving the donor DNA

      @kafkaesque999 Год назад +5

      There are 3 parents involved in the production of Dolly;
      sheep-1: Donor of the nucleus
      sheep-2: Donor of the enucleated egg cell
      sheep-3: The surrogate mother who nourished and developed the zygote, eventually giving birth to Dolly.
