    Spanish here: It's so fucking weird. Both vocabulary and pronunciation are a mix of Mexican Spanish and Spanish from Spain, more on the Mexican side. Plus, I've found some misspelling and mispronunciation, so it absolutely sounds like an American voice actor who learned Mexican Spanish and is trying to imitate the Spanish accent from Spain. Weird af.

      It’s mixture of Latin Spanish and Castelán. It’s incorrect to say “Spanish from Spain” because one would say which language? There are five Spanish languages; Aranese, Basque, Catalan, Galician and Castelán (the one mostly everyone uses and here we call it Spanish in the USA). Mexican Spanish is actually called Latin Spanish because Castelán evolved and New Spain did not want to associate themselves with the Spanish monarchy hence creating Latin Spanish. But I agree with you that they sound weird AF...

      Japan has strong trading with America, so its obvious that CAPCOM would recruit Latino voice actors rather than going all the way to Spain to ask for voice actors. don't forget CAPCOM is one of those companies that doesn't like to put their hand in their pocket too much.

That's actually an American try of Spanish, how I know it?, Well when American people is trying to learn Spanish, (Not all but generally) had accent issues, and pronunciation is one of the most common. "Garrador" is a neologism. A proper spanish word would be "Desgarrador", which comes from "Desgarrar", which means "To tear" or "To claw out".
    "Novistador" is another one. It means nothing. "No vista" means "No sight", but the "-dor" added at the end is the equivalent of the "-er" suffix in English, so the proper translation would be "Nosighter". And yes, it makes little sense either way.

    Guys, I am a native spanish speaker , so PLEASE let me correct you in many things at this video: 1) The phrases at RE4 are frequently incorrect spanish, (Not only as in the "MATALO-MATALA" case) From the accent is clear those lines werent pronounced, acted or writted by native spanish speakers. As an example, the woman voice at the game that says (literally) "PUEDES CORRER PERO NO PUEDES ESCONDIR" is actually a faulty spanish use. The last word "ESCONDIR" should mean the verb "HIDE" but "ESCONDIR" doesnt mean anything since the correct word/verb is "ESCONDER". Even that, the correct verb is wrongly conjugated. In order to have sense, and in proper spanish, it should be "PUEDES CORRER PERO NO PUEDES ESCONDERTE". 2) About the word LORD, it actually have a translation in spanish , and it is: SEÑOR. Is not SIR. In this context The word SEÑOR is used as a degree for the owner of a land. as an example "THE LORD OF THE RINGS" is literally translated as "EL SEÑOR DE LOS ANILLOS". 3) Also about your writtings from the phrases , sorry but many of them are wrong, maybe you are not hearing properly the spanish pronuntiation from the actors. And at this video there is a ton of mistakes, so I will just mention some of them randomly. As an example, the phrases you wrotte as : "POR AHI" "NO DEJAS QUE SE ESCAPEN" ""BLOQUÉO EL PASO" "DETRÁS DE TÍ IMBECILE" All of the them are wrong. And it should say (because this are the actual words the actors pronunced) "POR ALLÍ" "NO DEJES QUE SE ESCAPEN" "BLOQUÉALE EL PASO" "DETRÁS DE TÍ IMBÉCIL". Cause just changing those few letters you are changing totally the sense of them. 3) "MORIR ES VIVIR" means literally "TO DIE IS TO LIVE" of course it should be also translated as"TO LIVE IS TO DIE" but only cause a matter of syntax cause litteraly "TO LIVE IS TO DIE" means "VIVIR ES MORIR" 4) Names as "GARRADOR" and "NOVISTADORS" cant be properly translated , cause they are not proper words. They are a mix or a game of words. " GARRA" = "CLAW" and "DOR" is a suffix thats creates nouns from verbs or other nouns. As an example the word "LEÑADOR" (Lumberjack) is created from "LEÑA (Firewood) and the suffix "DOR", but this doesnt mean anyone can create words like this at spanish. "GARRADOR" just doesnt exist. And BTW: "NOVISTADORS" is even worst as a word. Anyway the closest from this names to an english translation should be: "CLAWLER" and "BLINDERS" wich at english could probably have more sense. 5) And BTW. About the "FANGS" / "COLMILLOS" name , instead "WOLF/LOBO" I am just guessing this could happened since "COLMILLOS" is just one of the most popular names for dogs at spanish, and still sound properly as a RE bioweapon name. Another dog's popular name, could be "FIRULAIS" but I bet that probably doesnt sound creepy enough.

    • @BIMBOBOOP
      @BIMBOBOOP 6 лет назад +9

      Actually, hearing it again, It sound like that too, but the spanish from this game is really, really, really, bad pronounced, So who knows. They should hired native spanish speakers, It would even be even better if they where from Spain, so the accent could help to bring even more horrifying phonetics. By the way , the translation you explained (You can run, but you can't argue) Is good , but not precise. The reason is: argue is actually the verb ARGUMENTAR, in spanish. Both words can replace each other, in some contexts, but they are not exactly the same. The proper english word for the verb Discutir, should be Discuss.

    Fun fact: Keisatsu is actually a calque for "police." In other words, a "more native" translation of a foreign word. The word was formed after the Meiji Restoration when Japan was becoming more modernized and like many words/terms at the time, the Japanese formed words by using Chinese vocabulary and gave them Japanese readings. Oddly enough, the Chinese borrowed these terms later and read it based on what symbol the Japanese used.

    - "Ah, que madre" part is a very bad use (rather Mexican) of "Ah! Madre (mía)" which is more similar to "Oh god!" than "Oh brother!" actually.
    - "Ah por él" (not el, but él) part being "oh for the love of god" is pretty wrong. It doesn't have that meaning as you said.
    - "Bloquéale el paso" (instead of "bloquéo el paso", this last one which would be correctly written as "bloqueó el paso", means "he blocked the path" rather than "block the path").
    - It's not "Está en la trampa" (again "Está", not "Esta") but rather "Caíste en la trampa", which means "He fell into the trap" instead of "he is in the trap".
    - It's "imbécil" not "imbécile"
    - "Puedes correr" is a rather saggy way of saying it from a Mexican that has been living her whole life in USA and almost never speaks spanish (well this applies to many of the voice acting, actually). The whole sentence at first "glance" (more like hear) can be interpreted as "Puedes corer, pero no puedes **discutir**", and it would be translated as "You can run (bad pronounced), but you can't argue" which makes no sense in such context. The intention of "hide" is obvious, but only in the context, and even me being from an small andalusian town, which permits me to understand the most closed-pronuntiation dialects, I still cannot grasp any other thing but "discutir", again, is incomprehensible.
    - "Es hora de rezar" not "rensar"
    - "Tenemos que irnos" is not that bad for "We need to go" but it's not proper, since it doesn't implies an obligation or restriction, but rather something you should do or need. A proper way of use "must" for spanish is "deber" so the proper way of saying "We must go" would be "Debemos irnos"
    - Not "Agárralo" (command to one person) but "Agárrenlo" (order to various), literally means "Grab him", but again, the more proper way in this context would be "Catch him", implying the act of stopping him.
    - "So cerdo" it's a shortened way of saying "Pedazo de cerdo" which will translate to "pig". Now I pretty much ignore how do you use "fucking" and "pig" and the context, but this time it would be a way of insulting someone, and "pedazo" working as something that indicates that is of higher level or something bigger. There's no specific way of translation here, being it directly "big pig", but I think "fucking swine" works just as it should (pig doesn't sound proper to insult similar to "canalla").
    - "Nuestro jefe se cuidará de la rata" is rather wrong and unused in spanish. It should have been made as "Nuestro jefe se *encargará* de la rata", which would exactly mean "Our chief will take care of the rat"
    -"Su plaga es mucho mejor que la nuestra". It actually says "Y si la plaga es mucho mejor que la nuestra" which doesn't makes sense as "... and if his plague is better than ours". Probably they wanted to say "Y su" and not "Y si", which would mean "and his plague is better than ours". On the other hand, "La plaga" which would mean "the plague" working as a single noun would be correct there not as you marked it. Since they've been calling it "La Plaga" instead of "La", "Plaga" the whole game, I belive that its use is actually correct, thought it wouldn't be if they used "la" as "the" (determining article?).
    - "Me cago en la puta leche" it's not even near of "I shit in the milk of the whore that bore you", it would be more like "I shit in the fking milk". Basically this is a common way "me cago en la..." of saying "Fuck it" or "Fuck this", as a way of complain/grumbling. The most accurate way of translation would be to keep it as "Fuck this shit!" or "Damn it!"
    - "Los Illuminados" doesn't make sense in spanish. Correct way of "The illuminated" or rather "The Illuminated ones" would be "Los Iluminados", with just one "L". Still, this is a bad and unproper way of translation, since the actual context works better as (and as you said) "The Enlightened (ones)", since "Iluminado" works as a way of mark "adquired knowledge" here.
    - "Plaga" cannot be translated in anyway as "Parasite". "Parásito" would mean "Parasite", but "Plaga" works just as something that would work in the similar way of an epidemic/pandemic would do. So plague.
    - "Mi amo" cannot be translating as "My owner". "Mi amo" is more related to a way of saying that he's someone from whom you will accept orders or subordinate yourself. So "My master" or "My lord" (as it was) would work better.
    As for the characters:
    - "Del (De-el) Lago" would work as "the one from the Lake". (this could apply to "el Gigante" too, since it works as a single)
    - "Usa los músculos" is "use the muscles", "Usa tus músculos" would be "Use your muscles". This sentence actually doesn't make much sense in the context, it would be the second one "Usa tus músculos", and yet it sounds as someone that just has learnt spanish and doesn't know a way to say "Use more strength" or "Pull stronger", why don't they just use "Con más fuerza" or "Tira más fuerte" isntead? Stupid.
    - "Se vuelve loco"? Nah, "Se está volviendo loco". It means just what you said. "Se vuelve loco" would be "He becomes crazy"
    - "Morir es vivir", I'm not certain on this one, but I belive that "Dying is living" is the more proper sentence to this.
    - Not "Ahí están" but "Allí están". It implicates a further distance than "Ahí" (Aquí = here, Ahí = There (closer), Allí = there (further)).
    - "Cójelo" not "Cojelo". Get is well used here, because as "agárrenlo" its context is to "catch him".
    - "Garrador" doesn't make sense as you suspected. It's a composed and invented name combining "Garra" (claws) and "ador" (a suffix for someone that makes something, as a "trabajador" "trabaja" (worker, works)). It doesn't even make sense itself, as someone that "Does the claws". I suppose they try to say that he "uses the claws" So yeah "Clawer".
    - "Novistadors" doesn't make sense as written, but it's an obvious bad written form os "No vista-dors". It doesn't make sense yet, bus as "garrador" they do pretty bad work. "No vista" would mean "No sight" but someone that uses the "no sight" or more like that makes you be like a disabled, would be rather then ones that can make you not see them. Unseen works well, but it's rather like the implication of its camouflage. So rather than Novistadors (which has 0 translations) it would be better to have called them "camufladors" or something that would mean in spanish that makes itself invisible.
    - Armor works well for "Armadura". Armored would be "con armadura".
    Other than that you did a good job already, so I would already give you a 7-8/10 here. Thought it was not great! Also that spanish is pretty poor sometimes, since it uses rather some Mexican accents/expressions a very few number of times, that no spanish would ever use, and honestly it can be even offensive, but not for me, I laugh at how bad it is.

      Maybe, but I think that's not what they really wanted to mean by that. I believe they just forgot to add new lines for Ashley, or they didn't care. It's more easy to just leave it at that than record new lines for a character that we're not going to use more than a few minutes just for once.

      in spanish doesn’t work that way, even if that is the intention, it will be “mátala” anyway since there is “genders” for objects, for example; the credit card is “la tarjeta de credito” or the car is “El carro”, so “kill it” could mean “mátala” or “mátalo” even for objects, all depends of what thing are you referenig at, in Ashley’s case it must be “mátala” even if you are trying to dehumanizing her

    Ahora, después de haber terminado este juego 10 veces o más, me doy cuenta de lo mal hecho que está el trabajo de las voces en español, que evidentemente hicieron angloparlantes que leían esas frases en español jaja. Aún así, este juego será de lo mejor que ha existido.

    • @j.copache4788

      El español es bastante difícil, en realidad. No creo que se trate de un mal trabajo de voces; de hecho, considerando que son japoneses escribiendo un juego en inglés que además incluye voces en español, es bastante apropiado. Si tuviera que hacer un juego en danés y mandarín, me encantaría hacer un trabajo la mitad de preciso que este.

      @saidoterodiseno 5 лет назад +5

      To diría que no está del todo mal hecho, sino que tal vez no consiguieron hispanoparlantes nativos para hacer las voces, tienen algunas incongruencias gramaticales y de pronunciación; igual cuando lo jugué por primera vez se me hizo muy curioso que tuviera lugar en una locación así y en español. Excelente juego 👍 Un mejor trabajo tiene Max Payne 3, donde hablan unos brasileros nativos y unos colombianos que hablan casi como mis vecinos los paisas de Medellín 😂

    4:43 Actualy we have, Lord in spanish is "El señor", usualy we use it to refer to God, when attending a customer in restauratns pubs (bares), when asking for the head member of a family... and for refering to a person who have power over others like followers to priests, butlers to the master of a house...

    • @arielcerecer142
      @arielcerecer142 4 года назад

      Yes and no. Yes, lord can be translated as Señor in those contexts. But, lord is also an honorific title. Royalty, if you will. As far as I know, there's no equivalent in Spanish for Lord as a Royal position. Like for example the word "sir" to refer to knights in England. For example: "Sir. Arthur drew his blade". I wouldnt think Lord as an status symbol works being translated as "Señor" but maybe thats just my opinion

    tenemos que rezar* Puedes correr pero no esconderte* por aca* PD: the closest to "Lord" in spanish, is "Señor", Garrador is a play on words between the word "Claw(Garra)" and "Grab(Agarrar)" The word Agarrador its like "Graber" but without the "A" its like crawer or something like that

      Garrador is not a portmanteu, is sort of spanish for "one who claws" or more correct "claw-er" (garra-dor), it is a very rough wording still and not correct spanish.
