Heaven & Hell in the Peak District • A Wild Camping Adventure with a Difficult Pitch
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 5 июл 2022
- My first ever visit to the Peak District! After a beautiful start hiking up to Middle Black Clough Waterfall, the weather took an unexpected turn for the worse up on the moors - resulting in my toughest pitch yet. It took me 40 minutes to get my tent up in the maddening winds, as the light faded and it started to rain, and I was thinking that I might end up having to emergency bivi under a rock for cover. But back in the valley, all is forgiven with a lovely refreshing morning swim in the peat-stained waters of the river :D
Apologies for the wind noise, up on the moor it was relentless and difficult to film in, despite wind muffs on everything 😬

I have to confess i watch Claire’s videos in bed with my morning tea and my electric blanket on! But then I’m 73. Her adventures wild camping are inspirational.
What a great video. And a good metaphor for life in general.
Thank you Bjorn 🤗 Hope you're having a nice week :)
"....it mellows rapidly into a fond memory." This is the gift of challenging yourself.
A friend referred to this as type 2 fun. Type 1 fun is the obvious fun stuff. Type 2 is when things go wrong, and you get through it. Then looking back, it is always the stronger of the two experiences.
I can deffo see that! 🙂 Funny you should mention, I was flicking through the Alpkit catalogue thing that I got in the post today, and it said in there about type 1 fun, type 2, type 3. And I thought ahh yes, this was type 2 haha - and deffo the stronger
Thanks for watching my lil viddy, hope you're having a lovely week :) 🌿🐻
Here is a quote from Aussie bushwalking legend, Paddy Pallin
"When we face danger and difficulty something deep inside us responds to the challenge with a fierce joy; and when the trip is over there is a profound satisfaction"
@@sikkpuppy1968 love that :D
Type 3? Never gonna go back there again!
Awesome Lady. Certainly merits a mini-series on mainstream TV. As a female Mum, Presenter, Outdoors enthusiast/expert and encouraging figure for others, inc girls to put their phones down and get some boots on, she’d be an absolute winner.
The Peak District is my back garden, as I live relatively close, it’s tougher than people think, large open moorland, plateaus, peat bogs, waterfalls and wind, did you notice the wind 🤭 is arrives without notice and can stay all day, bloody well done you, I know exactly where you were and you picked the best place to camp for a modicum of shelter, there is nowhere else up there in the wind and not camping in the dips and gullies was a smart move, they can get pretty soggy pretty quick, we’ll done you 👍
Thanks Steve! It is tougher than I expected it to be for sure 😄 deceiving how high you are too.. I'm so used to Wales where its very obvious that you're up high, this was such a gradual slope you can easily not realise you're high up. Thanks for sharing this lil trip with me, have a great day :D Claire 🌿🐻

Read this.... after watching the video.
Definitely going to be visiting the peak district... feel silly having never been there.
I fell into a peat hole in that area and smashed my camera a few years ago. It’s easy to lose the path and get lost on those peat bogs.
I do think Claire has a lovely face and voice. Very positive personality. I love the way she loves all weather turns anything into a learning experience ❤
Hi Claire, I discovered your Channel a few months ago & I've been catching up on your videos ever since.
Wow, you are SO Inspirational, the love you have for life shines out of you & the joy you show for the beautiful world around you is infectious.
I would love to get out into the world, do some trekking, camping & Wild Swimming but until now a back & leg injury have held me back. I'm so hoping I'm now on the mend & your videos are keeping me inspired & motivated to keep working towards my goal of doing a little of what you do.
Thank you so so much for keeping me inspired & motivated, your videos have & are helping me so much. You are such a lovely person too, so gentle & authentic & real. Stay safe, lots of love Rachel.
Claire, a word about strong wind:
Places that look sheltered can be deceptive. The higher you go, the stronger the wind is likely to be. Also, any solid structure that reaches high above ground will disrupt the higher-speed airflow up there, pulling it down to the ground, and then sideways. This is where those sudden, random gusts come from. You can demonstrate this on a windy day by walking in an urban area among high-rise buildings. At some point, close to a tall building, you are likely to get near blown off your feet. Yet on the same day, out in the open, whilst the wind might be strong, it won't be so overpowering, more likely steady, and from a stable direction.
On this trip you made a special effort to reach those rocks up on high, in order to reach shelter. Drawn like a magnet, this might have been the worst place to pitch! Compounding matters, those rocks had gaps between them, and you pitched in line with a gap funnelling the wind right at you.
It seems something similar happened at Cnicht. You chose a place high up, next to a vertical rock outcrop for shelter. While pitching, a huge blast took your hat for walkies. Next shot, another blast hit you from the opposite direction. This was a sign of downdraughts and turbulence, whether from the rock wall, or the mountain.
In both cases, it might have been better camping at lower level, away from rocks or structures that could play tricks with the wind.
Trees and bushes filter the wind rather than blocking it completely, so just tend to reduce its intensity, but come with their own problems.
Hope that helps.
She would be better served by enrolling in a course that teaches her these things. I know she's doing it for the scenic views, with her drone and selfie stick, but one day it could lead to dangerous situation.
I absolutely love your debriefs! So much learned in one short video! The outright honesty of your channel is refreshing, I’m finding watching blokes they are just a lot less happy to reveal what they struggled with and probably would have never admitted to spending so long setting up a tent or having to need a plan B. Slowly working my way through your videos and so far I’ve loved them all x
I love that you’re always so positive and upbeat and don’t catastrophize. This is supposed to be fun, but there will be challenges and you keep finding these stunning places. Living your best life. Your videos are so refreshing and interesting and just lovely.
I agree with Jacqueline.
Well said.
Unexpectedly expecting the unexpected, and you persevered through, accepting the situation while being grateful for the outcome! Thanks for bringing us along on another one of your adventures, Claire! 🙏❤️
Right you!
For the past 3 weeks RUclips has been hell bent on getting me to watch all of your content from start to finish.

Claire! That was an amazing little journey! It went from joyously happy to quite serious in a moment. I know you were exasperated, but you were also tenacious and I admire that in you.
Earlier I had seen your post on insta and I thought, ‘well this will be an interesting vlog’. Looming forward to your next adventure!
Hi Jimmy! Ahh thanks, yeh I was totally exasperated, I was preparing myself for the worst when I was fighting with that tent, thinking it wasn't gonna go up and I'd have to shelter under a rock for the night. Thanks for sharing this lil trip with me, hope you're having a great week :D 🌿 Claire 🐻
Life's toughest challenges make the greatest stories. I never doubted you would do it. Proud of you Claire. Keep exploring and never give up. Your the best. Eric
Aw thank you so much Eric 🤗 Hope you're having a great week :) 🌿🐻
Hello Claire: I love that you put yourself in situations that test your will and courage! Nothing teaches perseverance and builds character more effectively than adversity. And that waterfall...oh, my...such serene natural beauty! Thank you, as always for taking us along, and for all the extra work you put in filming under trying conditions. All the best to you, young lady, and please stay safe out there! 👍👍💜💜
Another fantastic video Claire. So sorry to see you had a rough time. I love your perseverance with the tent. Even when things get tough you manage to push through. Such an amazing attitude you have. I love watching your videos. I like to get ideas from you. Keep up with the adventures. Glad you got back safe. ⛺️⛺️
WOW. Your determination is amazing and very impressive. Watching that I was so stressed not being able to help you. You definitely learned from the experience and it will only make you stronger. Listening to your thoughts at the end was very inspirational. Best wishes from OZ.
Sometimes the toughest outings make for the greatest stories after all is said and done. I love that you push yourself, but I’ll bet most of us here were glad you didn’t risk a fall for the sake of the video. What a beautiful place to hike. Such a lovely waterfall. Nothing like that here in Savannah, Georgia. Thanks for taking me away from work for a very pleasant few minutes! ✌🏽
Hi Tom 👋 ahh yes they do, I'm really fond of this one despite some serious frustration at the time 🙃 funny how it goes like that. Yeh I didn't fancy going past that drop and never do anything purely for the sake of a video.. I enjoy life too much to risk it in that way haha. Thank you so much for joining me on this lil trip, hope work goes quick for you :) 🌿 Claire 🐻
Your " will to succeed " kicked in to overdrive on this one Claire. Tenacity usually overcomes adversity and in your treks it works every time. Beautiful district and scenery fabulous waterfall a camp you'll never forget for all the right reasons. Onwards and upwards to the next spectacular adventure girl. Bushyboy Oz.
@@ewengillies9826 thank you so much Ewen :D ahh the next one is such a treat, 3 days of bliss in the mountains 😍 hope you're having a great week! :)
You may not have a waterfall like that near you but watching PCT Class of 2022 I see the beautiful and diverse countryside you have. It's a bit like the AT here all year round. But yes, it is beautiful and thanks to Claire I have started hiking myself. She is a great inspiration.
Thank you so much. I have been watching your videos these past few days and one thing i have realised is that i have to get out more into nature and enjoys these amazingly beautiful places. I have grown so much respect for u, what u do is risky and has a hint of danger but it doesnt bother u , u carry on and make these amazing vlogs/ videos for us to watch these amazing ways to camp and amazing places to explore. Thank you again 😊😉
Your bravery and determination give me courage to face difficult challenges and your excellent videos pick me up when I feel down. Please keep the faith and keep up the great work. Hike on!
I can’t imagine your frustration with the wind and the tent especially after a not so easy hike. You obviously prevailed and had a great event to tell us about 👍🙏🤗🎩
Thanks Jon, ahh man it was so frustrating, I was really thinking I was gonna have to hide under a rock all night instead 😄 Hope you're having a lovely week :) 🌿 Claire 🐻
I've been wild camping up around there and, yeah, it's really tough going off-piste in those pete bogs with all that heather. What makes it even more tiring is the bleakness of the landscape as you pointed out, AND the fact that you have to constantly be aware a wrong foot somewhere could equal a broken ankle
The unexpected came, and you handled it like a pro. The determination you had pitching that tent, plus it held up perfectly. As always thanks for sharing.
You managed really well in the circumstances. Sometimes it is really challenging and you just have to keep plugging away at it and it's really frustrating but you did really well. It's definitely really good to see these kinds of videos too because often people will just upload the perfect sunsets and not the storms and the challenges and the times we're at the end of our tethers so it's really great that you show all sides of adventuring.
5:18 Might be a good idea to tie up a guy line to your backpack in heavy wind, until you got it fixed with pegs. Unless you want it to fly away :) Check out Hilleberg’s videos, they do a nice job on explaining how to pitch in windy conditions.
Yep you're right, it's one of those things that I know I should do and often don't, will take a looky, cheers :D
It’s always tough pitching a tent in high winds, especially finding’s the right place to pitch it. I always take a few of the screw in pegs that I can use as an extra level of wind protection to make me feel a bit more secure when it’s needed. It’s worth reading the two books of the first unsupported crossing of Antarctica by both Ran Fiennes and Mike Stroud. It makes putting up a tent in winds seem easy compared to the storms they needed to do it
Ooo such a good idea about screw pegs! I might get a few of those thank you :D
I bet anything seems easy after the real deal kinda stuff like that.. love an adventure read
Thanks for watching my lil vid :) have a great weekend 🌿🐻
@@WildBeare Mike Stroud has also written a book called ‘survival of the fittest: understanding health and peak physical performance’. It’s a worthwhile read as he talks about injuries, hypothermia and hyperthermia, dehydration and so on, and how to spot them in yourself and others as well as talking about the adventures he’s done. It’s also quite funny in places
You have a good heart and a strong spirit, both of which are evident in your videos, especially this one. May you enjoy great adventures for many years to come, thank you for sharing them with us.
Claire you're nuts and a total legend!!! Well done on getting that tent up in that wind!! Another great video 👍
Camerawork and editing are one of the best I've seen so far. Absolutely perfect, great adventure. Tnx! 🤙🏻🔥
Oh really, thanks so much! I had a bit of a mare with the wind noise & some mic interference so I'm glad it wasn't too annoying 🙂 Have a great week! :D Claire 🐻
Claire, what more can I say apart from, I’m running out of superlatives to describe your courage, tenacity, positivity and inspiration. Your amazing feats of defiance leave me awestruck, with your ability to turn a negative into a positive. You battled the elements there kid, overcame your fear of heights, and conquered what was an unexpected weather front. Lesser folk would have crumbled.
If I were to be stuck in the middle of nowhere with just the basics, I’d feel a lot safer with you around. You just ooze pure class and take everything in your stride.
Enjoy the rest of your week and your weekend Claire, and thank you for taking us on one of your wonderful adventures again. 🐻
Ahh you are so lovely and too kind! Thank you so much :) I am fond of this one although at the time I was getting quite exasperated with it 😄 Thank you for sharing this lil trip with me and hope you have a lovely weekend too :D 🌿🐻
Wow, that wind looked insane, you are amazing getting through that. You just seemed so relaxed and took it in your stride, you are so inspiring 👏🏻👏🏻😀
Love your videos and the way you film the surroundings... its also so refreshing to see when things don't go to plan as always happens when doing these type of adventures..
You’re an absolute legend and inspiration my lovely wild friend! I’m so proud of you for getting to your waterfall and that area did look beautiful!
Open moorland walking can feel never ending can’t it?!
I really felt for you with all that wind, it’s the worst element for me, so hard to battle against and just leaves you exhausted!
So glad the Lanshan held its own in those tough conditions, at least it did you proud that night!
Lovely vid as always, and loved the voiceover at the end. Fab 💕💕
Heyy Pink Lady! Ahh thank you so much, you are too kind bless you 🤗
The moor was brutal 😄 just.. no escaping it is there. Wind is the worst for me too, I find it really antagonising! Give me a downpour instead of wind any day
I was quite proud of my lil Lanshan, he did good 😍 once I got him up 😄
Thanks for sharing this lil trip with me, hope all went well this eve :D much love 💚🌿🐻
@@WildBeare 😂 getting him up is always the tricky part 😂🤣😂😘
"Always expect the unexpected". These are the words I shall remember when I do my first wild camp, with my partner (who is a lot more experienced than myself), I've only been on two camping trips so far and I loved it so much. I just can't wait to wild camp and see the sunset and sunrise and those beautiful views!❤️ Your videos are awesome, keep it up!😊❤️❤️
I look forward to your adventures Claire, you never cease to amaze me with your drive and determination. Well done And I look forward to the next installment.
Thank you so much, you are very kind :) have a great week! 🌿🐻
You’re a trooper Claire, stuck to your plan and didn’t let the worsening conditions win. Nicely done!
Great video loving the waterfall the Peak District can be a wild place especially in wind and rain but you showed us that it can be done and it's these moments struggling putting the tent up that you will remember in years to come and think I did that. It all adds to the adventure and like you said pushing yourself out of your comfort zone can be a good thing from time to time. Looking forward to the next video.
Awesome trip, great to see how you adapt to the changing weather..
Your just an awesome all round outside person.
Love your videos 👍👍👍👍
Thanks ❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻
Omg I really felt your struggle there, well done for getting through that ,I caught myself saying “well she must be ok she’s made the video ?.“
I love that you dig deep and persevere, relying on past experiences and know -how of which you have bucket loads! I was also expecting a peaceful little sunset vid from the peaks so thanks again Claire for sharing that. I know it will not put you off. Wild windy and positive🦦🐿🦔🌈🌈
Wow what an adventure that was! I think it's times like that, where the weather and the elements test us and kick our backsides, which bring out the best in us and develop the greatest adventurers. Well done persevering through all that Claire...really love your optimism and positivity. You're a real inspiration :)
Thank you so much Stu :) yep I agree, I love to look back on this one too, funny how at the time it can seem so freakin exasperating but it makes for great memories😄 Hope you have a great week! Claire 🐻
A great video. It highlights how quickly the weather can change and also how you need to be prepared for the challenges that the weather can throw at you.
Well done you crazy lady and welcome to the peak district my stopping ground. looking forward to your next video.
Love your videos Wildbeare. Never done wild camping but your uploads give me inspiration to take the plunge one day...except this video, which actually inspired me to stay home in the warm 🙂
Watching you struggle is definitely going to help me the next time things don't go as planned ! Great content, love all the vids and your transparency. Keep up the fantastic edits!
Thank you so much :D Have a great week! 🌿🐻
You're a trooper Claire! Those really tough and sometimes scary nights in a tent - wind, rain, lightning storms, severe drops in temperature, etc - always make for the best stories and longest memories. I once camped for four days in what turned out to be the heaviest rain that area had seen in 100 years - wet, oh yeah - gear soaked, for sure - fun, absolutely - great memories, none better. Keep up the great work - great video!
Woww that must have been quite something!! 😮🌧️🌧️🌧️ I'm yet to experience a lightning storm, although I'd love to (as long as I'm low down in the wood and not up a mountain! 😵) Thank you :) hope you're having a great weekend! :D Claire 🐻
Life experience, that’s what it’s about. Makes you stronger, builds memories. You are due a break. Love it.
Wow! What a challenging camp! You did a great job overcoming the obstacles nature threw at you! Well done! You’re a badass!! Thanks for sharing
Great job! You did it. Never quit never gave up. Always believed you would get the tent up. Such an inspiration. Love and Positivity Your Way ❤️🤙🏽
Hi Claire, go glad to hear you adapted to the situation. Such circumstances can be so trying. I had one myself a few seasons ago. In my case it was lack of water matched with my older father finding his limits going up a mountain a couple summers ago. In the end we made it through the night with some boiled, but otherwise very unpleasant water (here in the the southern Arizona desert), and a nice tarp shelter. Really enjoy all your content. Cheers, Patrick
Great adventure perfectly presented in this video - thank you so much! 🤗
Girl power Clare. Well done with your persistence and not letting it defeat you. 💖
That was quite a different experience to the videos I am used to seeing from you. But even more so: Hats off to your diligence and preparedness to handle the situation properly!
You are amazing Claire. You never give up and always stays positive. You’re an inspiration 😊
I really love how adventurous you are and I get excited everything you put up a new video. They are so fun to watch and you teach us something on each one. I know you are still learning on each trip as are most of us. Thank you for your videos. They make my day. Great camera work also btw, some of the best work out there! Take care!
Hi Greg, aw thanks so much, means a lot ☺ I'm so glad you enjoy my lil videos, I love to make them and very much appreciate you sharing them with me :D Wishing you a lovely week! 🌿 Claire 🐻
@@WildBeare thank you Claire! You have a great week as well. We have to talk bourbon sometime. I know you like a little whiskey every once in awhile. I make bourbon for a living here in Kentucky. Take care.
An absolute Delight, this video. I could not imagine being there and I kept wondering if you would be blown away in the night. Fortunately you were still there in the morning. I was on a mountain years ago and lightning was unbelievable. Scary, but worth it. Thanks for the adventures.
Wow Claire, you are an absolute machine fair play!! Most people would have abandoned that one but not you and yet again all done with that unbelievable smile and enthusiasm that only you have 🙏🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼❤️
Awesome job of sticking it out, staying as calm as can be and persevering! Adventure happens with the unexpected! Much to be learned when things get dodgy! Great job and may you have a more pleasant trip next time!
Thank you so much, very true! The next one was a dream, one of the best things I've ever done, just amazing 😍😁 Hope you have a nice week :) Claire 🌿🐻
Your style of camping is of an extreme level, incredible energy. What an adventure!
This is an amazing video. It illustrates how beautiful things can be and then suddenly turn very dark. You kept your head and overcame the difficulties. The thoughts that you shared near the end of the video are certainly applicable to all of life. Bravo, Claire! 👍👍
Thank you so much Larry, so glad you liked it :D hope you're having a lovely week :) 🌿🐻 Claire
The wind howlin, ages to pitch the tent, rain fallin, tired, exasperated but that did not matter! Our Claire Beare persevered and showed us all how it's done. Expect the unexpected in all situations and always have a backup plan. Thank you for yet another amazing video
Thank you for your videos. You get to enjoy the prettiest places. The wind didn't diminish that breathtaking view!!!
Well done Claire! No matter how rough it got, you kept going until you persevered. This trip, like life, has a way of throwing all sorts of curve balls one's way and when it does what matters most is never giving up and pushing on. As the old adage goes, "when the going gets tough, the tough get going". You, young lady are tough as nails and a fine example and role model for all. 🙂
Brilliant vid Claire. Impressed with your perseverance in very trying conditions. Well done!
Wonderfully done Claire.. your determination is admirable. Keep up the good work..!
Stumbled across your channel. During calm times I must say you have an ASMR voice. I live in Northern California with a 14,000 ft mountain in my front yard. I am impressed with your grit and positive attitude. As an outdoorsman the best piece of advice I can give you is NEVER panic when faced with adverse conditions. Panic leads to poor decision making and will make things worse. Enjoy your adventures and I look forward to more of your videos. Take care.
Well done Claire you did marvellously. I really loved the honesty of the video, showing how stressful it was pitching the tent in those conditions. Thank you for your honesty in words and pictures. Much love from a (aspiring) Wild One, Sean xx
All those little trials you experienced with that tent previously probably helped you in the end! That little Lanshan held up admirably and you didn't get wet when it mattered 😊.
Brilliant video (as always) and a really good reminder of how much conditions can differ from what you are expecting 💨🌧️.
peas in pod beare thanks for you vids . I'm 51 & had two hear attacks recently. & watching you got me into the wild camping you do , that I had not done for 25 years . ❤the freedom of having your home on your back x
Tough one Claire. Well done to you for getting though it... Shows the person you are.. Never giver up a.. 👌😍
An awesome adventure showing how to compete against the elements. You were prepared, well equipped and professional. Well done 👊🏻👍🏻👊🏻
Wonderful demonstration of perseverance. A credit to you for sticking with it where many would have thrown it in. Thanks for the video and the lesson.
What an awesome adventure! What perseverance and determination you posses! That tent held up well! I bet your MSR wouldn't have fared so well! Thank you for sharing!
Well done for your perseverance and for sharing. Few seem to tell of the challenge of actually finding a decent pitch and space for a tent.
I hope you have a less stressful time on your next visit to the Peak District. It is a beautiful place! All the best
Thank you :) mm this one was tricky.. I aimed for a place that I thought would provide some shelter, but there wasn't enough room for my tent in any of the more sheltered bits, oops!
I'm sure I will, it's gorgeous, from what I've seen :) Thanks for watching my lil vid and have a lovely week :D 🌿🐻
Welcome to my county, although challenging, I’m glad you enjoyed it Claire. Another top vid, thank you for sharing with us all 👍🏼😉😀
Well done Claire for showing your great action video. I;m sure you will remember this adventure for a very long time. Well done and thank you. Stay Safe.
Well done Claire! This was a tough one, but you muscled through. What an adventure... Whatever the conditions, you have some beautiful places to explore there. Still beats a night stuck in the city, nature always wins!
Absolutely always wins doesn't it 💚🌿 thank you so much :D hope you have a lovely week :) 🐻
Well done you. It makes for a good memory and hopefully the challenge of the evening makes you more knowledgable in your pursuits. All the best Derek
Well done Claire....these beautiful and remote places are that way for a reason...hard to live there year in and out. All that glitters and gold, but you rose to rhe challenge none the less. All we can ever do is our best and nature is the one that decides. Great advice about having a back-up plan and expect the neglected. My water bladder split Saturday night, during all this heat and thankfully I had another with two litres in it, or I'd have been in real trouble.
Aloha Claire, what a fantastic lady you are, that adventure might put many people off hiking for good, but to you it’s just another trip, you amaze me with your positivity, you are the best, thank you so much for this wonderful entertainment, please stay safe and we’ll, super happy goes without saying, haha. Aloha, Simon from Bristol xx 🌧🌧🌧⛺️
Wow! You are a really persistent, victorious, survivor, warrior lady! Congratulations! 💪💟
The greatest sense of satisfaction stems from overcoming your greatest challenge. Great video and a good lesson for us all. Stay safe & Floofy.
Nice one Claire. I'm sure that felt a challenge at the time, but you were well prepared with equipment and were determined to get that tent up. You've come on in leaps and bounds from the early days and should feel proud.
love your videos you do so well in all different types of weather cant be easy along keep them videos coming i love to watch and learn
You are a goddess Claire, to see u struggle and over come is just inspiring, thank you for everything you do for us.
Great Adventure and a fascinating insight into the difficulties of pitching a tent in strong winds & unpredictable terrain.
Really enjoyed your Peak District Adventure
Thank you Graham :) Hope you're having a lovely weekend! Claire 🐻
Well done taming that tent! I love watching these videos. There's a joy in aloneness, even when the going gets tough and we feel as miserable as hell. Nature is such a good metaphor for life, sometimes stormy, sometimes joyous and always unpredictable.
hey wildbeare your content is awesome i love watching and living priceriously through you in these beautiful places you visit, i love to get out myself but i dont go far, its amazing to see you enjoying the storms and showing your skills dealing with the extreme conditions you put yourself in. keep doing what your are doing, much love and respect.
Nice going. That's what its all about. Adapting and perservering to what is thrown at you, especially when you have no other options. You'll remember this experience for both the good and the bad and the lessons learned from it. I enjoyed the video.
wow wow wow. that was amazing, those winds though, it is wonderful how you persevered through all that - sometimes pushing ourselves we find new limits far past old ones.
i was watching you put the tent up, and i was thinking - there's just no way i could have gone 40 minutes wrestling a tent in those conditions. i was thinking and had my fingers crossed i was shouting at my screen "come on claire you got this, nearly there, you can do it" and then i realised i was shouting at the laptop screen and smiled and chuckled to myself - like you could hear me!!!
well done for making it through another adventure, loved the words of wisdom at the end.
I do enjoy your adventures. cheers ☕
Hi Calvin! 👋 Haha, omg it was driving me mad, I really thought it might be an emergency bivi situation 😬 but all was OK in the end :) Thank you so much, so glad you enjoy them, the next one was an absolute dream, nearly finished editing it :D Hope you have a lovely week! :) 🌿🐻 Claire
Awww loving the waterfall, how refreshing that must have felt.
I absolutely love the Peak District, it’s a personal favourite of mine. Looks like a tough path, good idea to backtrack, safety first. The weather can be brutal in the Peaks. Well done for getting the tent pitch, it looked like really hard work. Xx
Hi Rach! Yehh it was such a beautiful fall 😍 with the mossy rock walls, it was like something out of a fairy tale 💚 Thank you :) the Peaks was harder than I anticipated 😄
Hope you're having a lovely week :) 🌿🐻 Claire
That’s why we enjoy backpacking. It’s an adventure. A 5 day trip turned into a 3 day for my friend and I. We hit bad weather, water filter broke, and I twisted my knee. Luckily, we found a fire road out. I was back out there 2 weeks later. Love your videos! Stay safe.
That fight with the tent was epic, good on you for sticking with it, i hope the next one goes smoother.
Respect to the amount of work that goes into recording these trips , the amount of running back to get the camera is unreal. And yes I have tried it 😊
Haha yes the walking back for the camera is a workout in itself isn't it 😄 thanks :)
While you may not have expected the challenge you succeeded in conquering what nature threw at you. So congrats on that. As always I loved the videography and photography. I also enjoy it when I can stand underneath a waterfall. Thank you for sharing your adventure Claire. Perhaps one day you will share a nice trip with your son. Assuming you both agree to that. Hugs from across the pond.
Another brilliant video. Great quality and footage as usual. And well done for persivering and taking yourself out your comfort zone. All the best for the next one.
You are a champion young lady, thank you for sharing. Love your work.
Great video. That place is absolutely gorgeous, and I applaud you for sticking with it as I’m not sure I’d have gotten any sleep in that wind!
All part of the learning curve! Knowing your capabilities and limits and knowing when to bail and when you can carry on are really important factors when out in the elements. Good vid, atb Andy
Great video, looks like Bleaklow gave you the traditional welcome it usually hands out to people! The Peak District is like my back garden and it's very amusing when heading up Bleaklow 'it's a good day for it' a passing hiker will mutter, you have to just chuckle and simply know it's not going to be up top! The place you camped is probably one of the best up there, at least it provides the odd bit of shelter
Middle Black Clough is also one of the more impressive waterfalls we have up here, so that was nice that you saw it!
Your editing is exceptional as always, thankyou for the video, hope you had a great time up here, come again soon! 😀 👍
Wow Claire, that certainly was a challenge. I have to give it too you for your determination and resolve! It’s definitely good to challenge oneself but also to have the greatest respect for your surroundings and Mother Nature.
Glad it all worked out in the end, some dramatic footage and great narration. Stay safe
Thanks Richard :) yeh the Peaks was more challenging than I expected it to be 😄 hope you're having a great week! 🌿🐻
