Be yourself Pat I like your speech delivery and do not see any pressing reason to change. Your cinematography is excellent; pictures bring us back for more. You are a very good teacher and we want more adventures with you
paul keese Hi Paul and thanks for those comments, dare say can,t please everybody all the time. Got some interesting ideas for next year, all the best Pat
Nice vid Patrick. I'm nearly 75 now so I get most of my fun watching others and remembering wild camps many years ago all sort of centred around the A6 - up through Cromford, Matlock, Hartington, Castleton. In those early days it took two men and a donkey cart to carry your gear, a canvas two man tent and flysheet and a kapok filled sleeping bag! Things got better lol. Enjoy it as long as you can cos it only comes once! ATB Tone
+Anthony Antrobus Hi Tone I remember camping with the scouts 45 plus years ago with heavy canvas tents and heavy stoves and remember the weight of my Dads camping gear, so we are lucky we now have lightweight gear. I,am 60 now and it scares me how fast time is going so I make myself go out wild camping whenever I can, as you say it only comes once then once you stop its gone forever. Thanks for your thoughtful comments Pat
It's been lovely re-watching some of your camping videos over the past few weeks, Pat. It's sort of an evening routine for me...feet up, cup of coffee, and watch one of your vids. Absolutely fantastic. I look forward to your upcoming adventures once things return to a degree of normality inthe coming months. Very best wishes, Alistair.
How very fitting that we have our first snowfall here in S20 and this video pops up in my feed. I've had a Quasar since the early 90s. An absolutely bombproof shelter. I bought it for my alpine adventure back when I was able to walk all day and carry my house on my back. Its starting to show its age now though. The proofing is failing, and the bungees on the guy point are perished. I just don't have the heart to part with it. The new Quasar has changed very little by the looks of it. Mine has the old Wild Country branding and was UK made. Looks like a cracking night out Pat.
Hi Andy, yes a bomb proof tent, fe!t so secure in it, but for me it was just too heavy for one, so sold it and bought my Soulo, great tent the Soulo, but never as strong and stable as the Quasar, all the best Pat
Sam C Hi Sam the snow made this camp, amazing whether we get any this year I don, t know. Turns a wild camp into a true adventure, all the best Sam, Pat
FINALLY Watched all Pat's video's !!! And.... What a guy he is, Funny, Clever, Smart, Full of endless Knowledge, Fearless and a very Humble man. 10/10 For every video, Just sad they've ran out. Can't wait for future video's 👍👍 Thanks Pat 🏕💥👍🏕💥👍💯💯💯
That is so nice of you to say Harvey, must admit I,ve enjoyed making all my vidios, I like to swap and change, as my interests do, really appreciate your comments, and hope to keep you entertained in the future, all the best Pat
Used to love my whisperlite. The roar during a winter wild camp knowing your food was nearly ready was lovely. Amazing sunrise there. Nice work. Inspired me to get a winter bivvy done this year
Thanks David, a while ago this camp but, remember it well for the snow, something we don,t see so much today. Agree with you, the whisperlite sounds just great, thanks Pat
Excellent Pat,love watching your back catalogue of videos and seem to pick a new tip from each one.I'm slowly getting my winter kit together to be able get to the higher places. Thanks again Pat Graeme
Thanks Graeme, looks like camping I the snow becoming a thing of the past, weather we get any this year. It is a true adventure to camp in the snow, no room for mistakes, but such a great experience, all the best Pat
+anthony mcdougall Hi Anthony Yes it was a great night bit of a mini adventure looking forward to more snow this year as I have purchased some new items of winter kit to try out. Thanks Pat
Thank you so much for your assorted videos wish i had found your adventures earlier they bring back some very happy memories like trying to tie boot laces when frozen thank you again hope you are keeping well, from a old soft southerner
Hi Patrick. This is really inspiring to watch and for the many who can't get out (elderly, paraplegics, and others etc). Thanks for braving it in those tough conditions. We really enjoy it.
Hi Paul it was a very wintry camp but its one I remember for the snowy conditions, adds a bit of adventure to the camp, hoping for snow but never seem to get much over last few years. Thanks for comments and watching Pat
Lovely adventure, never had the chance to go camping in the snow, but do remember building igloos in the back garden! Well remember the delights of dehydrated food. Good luck from Spain!
Nice to hear from the USA Bill, we don,t often get snow like this so a great time for me to go camping, my tent packing usually is just push it into a stuff sack and sort it out back at home, thanks Pat
Hi Pat, I just recently came across your channel and I am enjoying your videos very much. With a little effort and creativity, one can find a great adventure. Keep up the good work. Cheers, Paul
Patrick Dickinson life is nothing more than a learning process Pat.. you do great work and are very outgoing on your adventures!! I am very impressed with winter camping.. hats off to you on putting up with the nice cold weather... I’m cold just watching!!!
Patrick Dickinson I'm now totally absorbed in these pod casts. Off on your adventures, fandabbydozey. Watch the Canadian ones too. Fab. It's just so absorbing .Did you get those snow shoes?
Great video on the tent. I have never done a snow camp before. You did dude and filmed it . I read some.of the negative comments but you have mostly good comments. This is your channel. like myself I will either watch it or not but I watched the whole video. so I can see the tent pitched and lived in and broken down in the snow so you have helped me know what this tent is like and a glimpse of a snow camp in minus conditions. I have to really really plan for this type of camp because I have never done it before. Thank you so much for an informative video. xxx
+John Clarke Hi John it was the best camp I had last year felt more like a arctic adventure even though only a couple of miles from where I live hoping to get out again if and when the heavy snow fall comes. Thanks for watching Pat
Pat, I’m late to your vlogs but have subscribed as I really enjoy what you’ve done. No gimmicks or pretension, just decent content of proper adventures. Hope you’re well mate 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you for this inspirational video its was helpful and informative and as a stealth camper I appreciate the effort you made to share this . Carry on camping xx
Hi Deborah and sorry for delay just been through my older videos and found your comment. As you are aware alot of effort in filming when there are so many other things to think about, but worth it when you get home and look at yout footage., thanks for comments, all the best Pat
Truly wonderful wild camp Patrick! loved it, I used to own a Quasar and sold it due to the weight but wished I kept it now, they are such an iconic tent. Sunrise in the morning was amazing mate and once again a great video :) Tim
+savedpurplecat Hi Tim, yes the Quasar was such a strong tent you certainly felt secure in it, but the weight at 9 lb just too much to carry. Hoping to try my replacement hilleberg soulo tent in the snow if we get some in next couple of months. Thanks for watching Pat
That was a cold one Pat. I reckon we are in for a hard winter this year. I could do with a 4 season tent as the one's I have are really 3 season rated. ATB Sandy
Wiltshire Man Hi Sandy yes this was a memorable camp, couple of years ago, best snow camp I have had, hopefully your predictions come true and we get a decent fall of snow. It was so difficult to walk in the deep snow, drifts up to 3 foot, that I went and bought some snowshoes after this camp, it has not really snowed since, that's life. Nice to hear from you , all the best Pat
Mary Robins Hi Mary yes I remember this camp because of the snow, made it a real adventure, will have to see if we get much this winter, thanks, nice to hear from you, Pat
+Freedomring 1775 Hi glad you enjoyed the video I have been hoping I would get out in the snow this year for a couple of wild camps but it looks like we may not get any snow this year. All the best Pat
Hi Pat...You're an inspiration! It makes me want to head off up to Dartmoor which is about an hours drive from where i live down here in Devon, trouble is we only get snow up there for a few days in the winter and it never lasts very long...it's just a matter of being in the right place at the right time. Cheers mate!
George Gunn You are right about that we have not had any decent snow fall for last couple of years, I hope I ,am out camping when we do get some, all the best Pat
I just discovered your channel and subscribed. That looked a great night. I have the dragonfly stove and use a little bit of meths to prime it instead of opening the valve. It works and is much safer and doesn't flare so I can cook in the porch. I keep a small bottle about 30ml in my cook kit and put it in my pocket about 10 minutes before I want to light my stove. With regards to keeping feet warm I use my old army '58 pattern water bottle and fill it with almost boiling water. Lovely toasty warm feet, though I have to wear socks to stop them burning lol. ATB Mark.
+Squatts Wild Camping Hi Mark and thanks for comments. This camp was last year and a great camp in the snow , I was hoping to be camping this year in snow but very little snow in the Peak district. Liquid fuel stoves do flare up a bit so not good in porch, I take a small gas stove for odd drink or just boil water for dehydrated meals in tent. Your meths idea sounds good like the old paraffin primus stoves. I too have discovered the benefits of hot water bottle worth the extra fuel for nice warm feet. Thanks for watching all the best with your camps Pat
+Pramonster84 Hi glad you enjoyed the video, I,ve just been sorting my winter camping gear this weekend in anticipation of some deep snow this winter, got a few more bits of kit to keep me warm. Thanks for watching and all the best, Pat
Hi Pat . Iv'e used my Superlight Quasar tent for about 12 years and its fantastic. stands up to all weather and weighs only 2.5kg. Don't think Terra Nova still make them ,probably need to look at a used one. Any way ,great videos, enjoy them all.
Worth it just for the sunrise. Imagine the Dantesque hellish scene from the furnaces in the middle of the steelworks in the Industrial revolution.I too had a local ironworks in my childhood to stimulate the imagination.
David Lee Hi David yes I can remember when the steel industry was still intact in the 60sand 70 ,s, now it's mostly shopping malls, thanks for the comments, all the best Pat
Great video Patrick! I'm planning to buy the same tent ( hilleberg solou ) Then do the first winter camp this year ... Looking forward after seen your video!
Gabor Nemeth Hi I ,am sure you will be pleased with the Soulo, as you will be aware I had the Quasar but too heavy as in vid but changed to soulo after looking at other reviews etc. The snow transforms a simple wild camp into expedition type of camp you do feel you have been on a real adventure. All the best with your winter camp, Pat
cracking vid with great info Pat. My DoE students find them essential. Keep it up! Little note... Shovel could be inside tent. Can not get lost and can dig yourself out if snowed in :)
Hi and thanks, makes good sense to keep shover Nancy in tent. This was a earlier camp and I learnt a lot, having the right gear really helps and certainly a liquid fuel stove. After this camp it did not really snow for next two years, but that's our UK climate, all the best Pat
Thanks Mark, great experience camping in snow, but we get so little heavy snow may have to wait untill next year, will give me time to buy some extra kit
Hi Pat...another great video, I work for the Blacks and Millets and just got a bargain tent Terra Nova Trisar 2D I normally use Vango Mirage pro 2 man which is quite light and if driving Vango Nemesis 3 man for a bit more room. Looking forward to trying out the Trisar 2D. If you get chance pop into our clearance store at Parkgate we have some good bargains.
Hi Steve sounds the perfect job if you love the outdoors, my Terra Nova Quasar tent was as strong as a bomb, just a bit heavy though. Thanks if zI,am round Parkgate I,ll call in. The car dealership near the mini roundabout at the entrance was the site of our Yorkshire Electricity office in the 1990,s were I worked for 7 years just as they were building Parkgate Shopping Centre, all the best Pat
Hi Jordipaul, although camping in the snow does not appeal to everybody it can be a real adventure, even though only a few miles from home you feel you are on a arctic adventure. I also agree with you the beer from Aldi is a bargain , all the best Pat
Spent Xmas eve halfway up an alp in a storm in a quasar many years ago. (So long ago that there were no LED head torches). Performed perfectly. Would have been around 1994. The year before we camped on a cliff top near Land's End on NYE in a storm that must have been approaching Hurricane strength. The tent took the full force as the storm came in off the Atlantic, and just shrugged it off. Still got it and still use it. Still working well on the Vercors plateau last year. Too bulky for me for single use, but as a 2 man tent it is in my opinion unbeatable. Expensive, but has been worth the money over the 25 years I have had out of it.
Hi Matt sounds like you, ve had some great adventures and the Quasar has served you well. Agree the tent is unbeatable and probably withstand anything mother nature could throw at it. I did sell my Quasar mainly due to the weight for one man camping, bought a Hilleberg Soulo very pleased with it for space and lightweight, but does not feel as secure as the Quasar, all the best Pat
Great video patrick, me and my girlfriend are from sheffield and we camp a lot in the peaks during the summer at actual campsites, but im wanting to go this winter in snowy conditions off the beaten track, my girlfriend is not so sure but your videos are a real inspiration, hope you make more this winter :)
Hi Nicky good idea to winter camp as great adventure, with you and your girlfriend should be able to carry plenty of winter gear to keep you warm, liquid fuel stove for cooking as gas no good if cold, hot water bottle good idea. think of simple problems like water, toilets and keeping warm, have a great adventure all the best Pat
Hi patrick thank you for the advice, my name is arun by the way thats just my email, being ex military it wouldent be the first time ive done this, and only under a thin square poncho, the sleeping bags they used to give us were very cumbersome but worked perfectly in winter, ive never used a liquid fuel stove before are they efficient and cost effective to use? regards arun :)
Hi and thanks for watching, it was really kind of Sandy to recommend my channel. Mostly wild camping but can go off on a tangent on something i ,am interested in, thanks again Pat
Hi Patrick, I have a Vaude Power Lizard 2 person tent, it only weights 1046 grams / 2.3 pounds. I ve had it years and used it in all 4 seasons and in high storm rains (with longer pegs) . Never leaked, ripped, mis-shaped or anything, best tent I have ever owned, most expensive too but absolutely worth it. That tent does look bomb proof and very sturdy. Mine looks flimsy because of the lightweight material but has stood the test of time.
Kaylem Hi Kaylee your tent is very light at 1046 gm great for lightweight camping and sounds like it is a good tent in severe weather. I don,t mind carrying a bit extra weight for a solid tent Asif a major part of your kit, hope it serves you well in the future Pat
Yep, I still use my £50 argos dome tent (5kg) but massive (3 or 4 peeps), easy, and pretty solid, worth the extra kg for the extra...eXtra! and if a couple of you go, just spread the weight. cheers Pat.
you can get battery operated warming socks, the old bomber flying suits, used this method to stop the pilots and crew from freezing at high altitudes heating wires running throughout the suit
Hiya Pat, I've watched all your videos now and enjoyed all of them, and hoping you get to do a whole lot more. I've watched a lot of other peoples videos and they just don't compare to yours. Best wishes James
+Dyfan Barlow Hi Dyfan, glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for comments, hope you enjoy your years of camping and adventure ahead of you. Thanks Pat
+Patrick Dickinson thanks Pat, camping and being outdoors is incredibly fulfilling! I am young and it's a shame to see most young people spending too much time indoors. Like you, I love the outdoors and look forward for what awesome adventures are round the corner! Keep up the good work!
Hi Pat. Been a fan for a while now and love your videos. Could you tell me how far on average you go before setting up camp, I'm no spring chicken and just wondered how far I should walk with my heavy load before camping. Thanks.
Hi there, I would say don,t walk too far on your first camp, the weight of your pack will be really noticeable, so start around a mi!e or 2, then slowly build up from there..... thanks Pat
A say Pat,I would like you do camp near Manchester I went there on Sunday and the city centre would look awesome from the hills🔥please have a think about that one I’m sure you would love it mate, thanks again Dan
Hi Dan on my list, I did camp up on Bleaklow, for the views but so misty could not see anything, planning to camp at Upper Shelf Stones this year and hoping for clearer weather, all the best Pat
Great video Patrick. I use a Super Quasar, a bit older than yours as it doesn't have colour coded poles. I'm curious about your guy line arrangement as the adjuster looks to be at the top. Is that a cam cleat? Do you have another sliding adjuster at the peg end? What pegs do you use? I'm also very impressed by your shiny MSR stove - bet it doesn't stay that way for long. Here's to getting some snow soon.
+Mark Dixon Hi Mark and thanks for your comments I did sell my Quasar tent after making this video a great and really strong tent but too heavy so bought a Hilleberg Soulo which I still have to try in the snow. The guys did use a cam cleat so the guy rope went round the peg and adjustment was just by the cam cleat . The pegs I used were MSR snow stakes which could be laid flat in the snow, I had a loop of guy rope already fastened to the snow stake and in turn I looped it around the tent guy rope to form a secure anchor. it was a bit fiddly setting each peg up. I did look at some plastic hooks I could fasten to the guy rope on the peg but was concerned how strong plastic would be so I looped guy ropes together to form strong anchor point. Like you I, am looking forward to some snow to try out my Soulo tent and some other new bits of gear, quite looking forward to winter, all the best Pat
Love your vids. Thanks for sharing. I'm just starting to get my winter gear sorted. What's your kit consist off? Looking forward to heading off into the peaks this winter especially if the sunrise is like that. Stay safe. Phil
+Phil Hayes Hi Phil In the movie I used a Terra nova Quasar tent but due to weight I sold it and have bought the Hilleberg Soulo, it will be my winter tent but I,'ve not tried it in the snow yet. My winter bag is a Rab Ladakh about 10 years old, I have just bought a exped mattress which I still have to try in the winter. I have a liquid fuel MSR Whiperlight stove for cold conditions rather than gas and then alot of down and thermal clothing to try and keep warm. Same as everybody else I,am changing items as they improve or my old stuff becomes outdated. Thanks for your interest and let's look forward to some heavy snow this year, thanks Pat
Hi there, yes it's, I had just started wild camping and although this was an amazingly strong tent and would ?over another one I did sell it because of its near 3kg weight. I think it would survive a nuclear strike, amazing tent..... thanks Pat
Black & Outdoorsy!! Hi Sheila yes a great winter camp this, my tent was frozen solid eventually the sun came up and soon de frosted it so I could then pack it up, took a bit of drying out though, nice to talk to you Pat
Good stuff . Beautiful sun and snow views. What was temp in the tent during the nite? Must have been great experience camping in the snow. Cheers Lawson
Lawson Richards Hi yes felt like a alpine adventure, was pretty cold in tent enough to freeze and wet clothing into solid boards, but still a great adventure, thanks Pat
I am loving your video's Pat and just come across this one. You are inspiring me to try it myself this Winter. Can you tell me what pack you are using? It seems ideal for packing everything you need and I like the profile.
Hi yes a great winter camp this one, the rucksack I used then was a miltec type 85 litre military style. Ok but heavy and not waterproof at all. Since changed to a Lightwavw Wilderness 70 litre, single compartment, lighter and more waterproof, not that any rucksack is waterproof, hope helpful, Pat
+Ian Hyde Hi Ian yes camping in the snow is great fun and adds a bit of adventure to a wild camping trip. I,am hoping to get out in the snow this coming winter but looking at our winter temp of 10-14 centigrade I ,am beginning to think are we going to get any snow. anyway couple of months of winter left so hopefully we should get some. Thanks for watching and all the best for 2016, Pat
+Patrick Dickinson i know what you mean with this very strange weather. .. I'm new to wild camping and haven't camped so to speak for many years so looking forward to getting out there.. thanks again and the same to you Patrick. . all the best .. enjoy
Great stuff Patrick i just got snowshoes i'm hoping to try them this winter.Thick thermal socks and tent mules would help keep your feet warm , going to sub atb Eddie.
Hi yes seems a while ago but was a great camp especially with the snowy conditions, missed the snow this year as it always gives a feeling of adventure to any camp. Thanks for watching Pat
+SMILEVIDEOBRITAIN Hi it looks cold and was cold, you could imagine you were in the middle of the artic not a few miles from Sheffield but the feeling of adventure made the cold fade away. Thanks for watching Pat
Got some great kit there Pat, but I dislike these tents that you have to pitch the inner first, why do so many 4 season tents do this, must be a reason.. That looked cold that camp, ;)
Hi yes I now what you mean, this Quasar tent felt so secure and strong, I feel it could of survived anything but it was too heavy at about 3+ kilo, and like you I did not like the inner first pitching. So I sold the Quasar and bought a Hilleberg Soulo which pitches in one go and is fine for the camping I do, but I miss the strength of the old quasar. Thanks Pat
Hi Patrick, great video and some awesome snow!!!! What year of manufacture is your Quaser? Potentially buying a 2006 model for good money, but wanted to compare it to yours. Many thanks, Fergus
Hi fergus my Quasar was about 2010 model it was the original standard weight Quasar super strong and felt bomb proof. The only problem was the weight about 9 Ib, since making vid I sold the Quasar and bought a Hilleberg Soulo. The Quasar was one of the strongest tents I owned but too heavy for backpacking. If you don,t intend carrying far then go for it, all the best Pat
+will brownless Hi Will I,ve camped in both tents in windy conditions and I felt more secure in the Quasar, due to its heavy weight construction, the downside in that you have to carry the extra weight The Soulo was fine but due to its lighter weight it did flap about a bit, I still have to try the Soulo in really windy conditions. Thanks Pat
I,am after to get some new gear next couple months for next winter, exped matteress, getting heavier and perhaps a lighter tent going to see if there are any discounts this spring
Really well William, not got the tent now sold it due to it been a bit heavy and bought my Soulo, but it's the strongest tent I,ve slept in, never really moves in the wind, just as solid as a rock, thanks Pat
Iv had my old 2 man terra nova tent for 20 + years now and it is still going strong! 132.3mph actual recorded wind data speed before the gauge broke! and i only cracked 1 tent pole, No wonder they are tested in wind tunnels up to 120 mph, But the best thing is to go on the web page and download a free delivery address and they send you a voucher for 30% off a brand new tent when you hand back your old one with the free mailing address SAE, They recondition the old ones and sell them onto students on a budget and they give you 30% off a new top of the range tent,
Very Nice, can't imagine lugging my Quasar up Ringinglow Road tho would prob go in Norfolk arms first ;), will be working my way through your vids this week hurry up an make some more :)
Hi Chris your right about the weight of the quasar, just sold it this week and have gone for a hilleberg soulo. The quasar was a really strong tent but the weight and having to pitch the inner first made me change.
+Nobody You Would Know I have the Super Quasar and have used it for solo wild camping in the Lake District. Yes it's a bit on the heavy side but its reassuring to know it will still be there in the morning.
+Mark Dixon That was eight months ago......I did end up lugging it up Sale Fell in the lake district when I took my four year old wildcamping in September and yes it is the only tent I would trust in every situation :)
Would be interested to know how you deal with condensation on inner wall when sleeping in really cold weather. I've had sleeping bag hood and sides wet through in the morning if touching wall! do you close up the tent to keep warmth in or open door for venting?
Hi Pete sorry for delay must of missed your comment. Tend to open ventilation up a bit but still get a bit of condensation in winter, not a lot you can do as you don,t want it too draughty, thanks for comments Pat
No problem Pat. Can't imagine how you manage to follow all your comments and answer them all. Yep, its a fine balance in cold weather between keeping the warmth in the tent while achieving enough ventilation to avoid condensation. I guess venting should come first to keep the tent dry and you healthy, then rely on the sleep system (sleeping bag etc) to keep warm. I always find it tempting to keep the damned cold out though, lol. ATB. Pete.
its like the old tilley lamp that you pump, a bit on the heavy side, but once, youve got it going, that would make you sweat in no time, and with a bit of engineering, you can make a pot holder for the top, and use it to cook on as well as lighting up the entire surroundings, x246 ex railway model, methylated spirit in a clip on holder to heat it, before it would ignite properly, ive still got three, people wonder, how come ive still got lights when every body else, is in darkness
WOLFROY47 Remember the old Tulley lamp from scouts great light output using the method then it's like a old primus stove. I have a similar Coleman fuel lantern, lights similar to stoves, great light output when running at max very atmospheric the flickering light, thanks Pat
Got some interesting ideas for next year, all the best Pat
for those who havnt the time to see these wonderful places, just sit back and let pat show you the sights.fantastic keep them coming pat
Thanks for the kind comments, be back up there soon, thanks Pat
Nice vid Patrick. I'm nearly 75 now so I get most of my fun watching others and remembering wild camps many years ago all sort of centred around the A6 - up through Cromford, Matlock, Hartington, Castleton. In those early days it took two men and a donkey cart to carry your gear, a canvas two man tent and flysheet and a kapok filled sleeping bag! Things got better lol.
Yes Alistair great to look back at previous adventures , looking forward to getting back to normality, all the best Pat
Great stuff great tent.tough condition but you look happy to be out.thanks for sharing.
Derrick Murphy yep this was a great camp mainly due to the snow, tent performed really well just a bit heavy, thanks for comments Pat
I really feel inspired watching your videos Pat. Can’t wait to get back out wild camping. Keep up the great work. Steve
That,s great Steve, there is no better place to be high up in the hills in a tent, all the best Pat
Love watching your videos Pat. Keep it up mate.
Can't wait for future video's 👍👍
Thanks Pat 🏕💥👍🏕💥👍💯💯💯
That is so nice of you to say Harvey, must admit I,ve enjoyed making all my vidios, I like to swap and change, as my interests do, really appreciate your comments, and hope to keep you entertained in the future, all the best Pat
Thanks Pat ,I enjoyed the vid very much.Thankyou. Blessings
Thanks again Pat
Graeme
Thanks Graeme, looks like camping I the snow becoming a thing of the past, weather we get any this year.
It is a true adventure to camp in the snow, no room for mistakes, but such a great experience, all the best Pat
good solid tent wonderful evening you had Patrick 👍
+anthony mcdougall Hi Anthony Yes it was a great night bit of a mini adventure looking forward to more snow this year as I have purchased some new items of winter kit to try out. Thanks Pat
Thank you so much for your assorted videos wish i had found your adventures earlier they bring back some very happy memories like trying to tie boot laces when frozen thank you again hope you are keeping well, from a old soft southerner
Hi Paul, glad the videos bring back memories, all the best Pat
Hi Patrick. This is really inspiring to watch and for the many who can't get out (elderly, paraplegics, and others etc). Thanks for braving it in those tough conditions. We really enjoy it.
stephen freeman Thanks Stephen, I certainly get alot of fun filming and making the vidio, great that people enjoy them, all the best Pat
Bloody hell Pat that looked a cold night. You,re a brave man ....all the best looking forward to your next adventure. Cheers Paul
Hi Paul it was a very wintry camp but its one I remember for the snowy conditions, adds a bit of adventure to the camp, hoping for snow but never seem to get much over last few years. Thanks for comments and watching Pat
One of the best sunrises I have seen on film, well done, looks awesome.
Lovely adventure, never had the chance to go camping in the snow, but do remember building igloos in the back garden! Well remember the delights of dehydrated food. Good luck from Spain!
Yes few years ago this one and never realiy had much snow since, global warming I suppose.......Pat
I love your videos Patrick. Great stuff. That was the fasted packing of a tent ever by the way! Cheers from the USA.
Paul T Hi Paul yes you don,t have to go far to find adventure, it's all round you once you get out there, all the best Pat
Patrick great video, I'm near Peak District and going to be enjoying quite a few summer and winter wild camps there. Keep the videos coming m8
Thanks and your in the right location for some great camps..... all the best Pat 😊
Second attempt at putting movie on, got the aspect ratio wrong last time so deleted it and started again, learning all the time.
good job
Patrick Dickinson life is nothing more than a learning process Pat.. you do great work and are very outgoing on your adventures!! I am very impressed with winter camping.. hats off to you on putting up with the nice cold weather... I’m cold just watching!!!
I loved every second of this. Hope you get your thermal socks. Lovely night scenes of the city of Sheffield. Great podcast thanks
Thanks Mary a very memorable camp, due to the snow made it a real adventure, thanks Pat
Thank you so much for an informative video. xxx
Your very welcome Karl, it was a few years ago but I remember the cp very well, a very memorable camp due to all the snow all the best Pat
Inspirational - like that tent very much.
Thanks Gregor, great camp due to the snow. The tent solid as a bomb, roomy but! just too heavy at 3 kg so had to sell it to get the Soulo, thanks Pat
This is one of my favourites pat👍looks like you enjoyed it too👏👏
Yes Barry the snow turned this into a real adventure thanks Pat
Keep the videos commin mate,I luv em👏👏👏👏👏
great video loved the snowy landscape thanks for sharing
+John Clarke Hi John it was the best camp I had last year felt more like a arctic adventure even though only a couple of miles from where I live hoping to get out again if and when the heavy snow fall comes. Thanks for watching Pat
Yes I'm hoping to get up to the peak district for the snow
Pat, I’m late to your vlogs but have subscribed as I really enjoy what you’ve done. No gimmicks or pretension, just decent content of proper adventures. Hope you’re well mate 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hi Chris, that's my channel to a tee, just straight forward adventure, as simple as that..... thanks Pat
Thanks for your answer. I was considering the soulo for winter but I think I'll stick with the extra weight and full geodesic design
Nice vid Pat, was hoping to get my quasar out this year in the snow. O well may next winter. 👍
Yes Steve, a similair feeling with alot of us, so little snow this year as well, looking forward to a grear summer, thanks Pat
ATB
Sandy
Wiltshire Man Hi Sandy yes this was a memorable camp, couple of years ago, best snow camp I have had, hopefully your predictions come true and we get a decent fall of snow. It was so difficult to walk in the deep snow, drifts up to 3 foot, that I went and bought some snowshoes after this camp, it has not really snowed since, that's life. Nice to hear from you , all the best Pat
Looks lovely Pat!!!!
Mary Robins Hi Mary yes I remember this camp because of the snow, made it a real adventure, will have to see if we get much this winter, thanks, nice to hear from you, Pat
It looks cosy, thanks Pat another enjoying video :-)
Yes even though freezing outside, very cozy inside the tent, thanks Pat
Brilliant again Pat 👍👍
Great camp with my old Quasar, it had to go though, just too heavy, but such a strong tent, thanks Pat
Gd vid, thx for having us along mate.
Really enjoyed the video Patrick.
Thanks Paul this was my first proper winter camp in the snow, a very memorable camp, all the best Pat
Great video mate!!
It felt like we were there with you.
Yes loved the old Quasar, just the weight, but the superlight is a great option.....thanks Pat
I ALWAYS LIKE THAT DESIGN IN A TENT
Yes, great design, as solid as a rock, thanks Pat
Another great one. A solid tent that by the looks of it..Thanks for sharing the chilly adventure.
Quality vid mate. Tent looked great in the snow. ATB Mark.
Good video and very helpful. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Mark, this was a memorable camp all down to the snow, turns a average camp into a mini adventure, all the best Pat
Another great vid..... You're a brave man!
Great video....
Great video. Many thanks.
Ben H thanks for that will always remember this camp for the snow, here,s hoping we get some this year, thanks Pat
Great vid pat, hats off to you,,,
Thanks Chaz, nice to be out in the snow, thanks Pat
Enjoyed your video Patrick, thanks for sharing. Found your channel due to recent recommendation from the wiltshire man.
Yep, I still use my £50 argos dome tent (5kg) but massive (3 or 4 peeps), easy, and pretty solid, worth the extra kg for the extra...eXtra! and if a couple of you go, just spread the weight.
cheers Pat.
you can get battery operated warming socks, the old bomber flying suits, used this method to stop the pilots and crew from freezing at high altitudes heating wires running throughout the suit
great video as always,. really nice !
Thanks Matt, this was the best snow camps I,ve been on, difficult to time your trip and the snow, thanks Pat
Fair play and respect from a soft Southerner!
Thanks Christopher amazing camp remember it well, thanks Pat 😊
Hiya Pat, I've watched all your videos now and enjoyed all of them, and hoping you get to do a whole lot more. I've watched a lot of other peoples videos and they just don't compare to yours. Best wishes James
Thanks James, really nice of you to say, I,am having a bit of a break due to hols and just busy but will be back in summer……thanks Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 looking forward to it sir
Nice view where you are. Tried some winter camping in my Wild Country Solar tent
Hi the area I camped is now as Ringinglow on the hills West of Sheffield, Pat
Lovely sunrise
Caroline Gray yes Caroline it was, certainly a winter camp this one, thanks Pat
'Enter text here' had me in stitches! haha nice video
Great film.. thanks for making
Thanks for that the snow turned this into a bit of a adventure, thanks Pat
Cool Camp and Sunrise.
Hi Alan, yes the snow certainly made this a memorable camp, thanks Pat
Brilliant Pat,were exactly were you pitched to see the amazing city lights on 🔥👍Dan
Hi Dan about a mile above the Norfolk Arms pub at Ringinglow, hope helpful Pat
love a good snow camp
Great video. Snow camps always feel more of an adventure don't they.
You did go back for the bag of rubbish at the end of the video?
Hi there yes snow camps are definitely the best, yes did collect rubbish eventually, thanks Pat
Nice video, thanks. Isn't that tent a bit heavy for backpacking?
Hi there, yes it's, I had just started wild camping and although this was an amazingly strong tent and would ?over another one I did sell it because of its near 3kg weight. I think it would survive a nuclear strike, amazing tent..... thanks Pat
It takes a lot of effort to be doing this Pat. I’m not sure I would!☘️👍
A while ago this one, when we had snow !...once you've set your mind on what your doing then it just flows..... all the best Pat
How did you fold back up your tent since it's frozen over?.. did you run your stove inside to D ice it?...p.s love your vids😊... Sheila
Black & Outdoorsy!! Hi Sheila yes a great winter camp this, my tent was frozen solid eventually the sun came up and soon de frosted it so I could then pack it up, took a bit of drying out though, nice to talk to you Pat
Good video, nice tent too. Hope you took you rubbish back with you on the bottom left?
Yep took it back eventually thanks
I thought you would just had to ask, thats one thing that really bothers me, people littering in the peak district, grrr. All the best
Patrick Dickinson Thank you Patrick. Your wild camping adventures have inspired me to do a few of my own now that I live in the Yorkshire Dales.
would love to camp in the snow... nice video... cheers
Thanks for comments, i know as soon as I get some snowshoes we won,t see any more snow down here
I was up there today up near Ox Stones. Today it was pouring it down!
Nice up there, but perhaps not when it's raining, but that's the UK weather for you, thanks Pat
another good winter camp
Hi yes seems a while ago but was a great camp especially with the snowy conditions, missed the snow this year as it always gives a feeling of adventure to any camp. Thanks for watching Pat
Brrrrr another brilliant and informative video
Patrick Dickinson thanks for your reply Patrick
Nice video. The outer tent seems to be in a thick material due to the sound? Isn't it?
dear patrick withs tent is the best for wild camping ? grts danny from belgium
Hi Danny, I like my Soulo, but expensive and there are a lot lighter ones out there, depends when you are going to use it, thanks Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 i am looking for a 2 person tent not to expensif
hi, great video. I was wandering which tent you would feel the safest in high winds , the soulo or the quasar
Thanks Pat
great to watch yes winter gears always heavier I go from 4 kilo base weight to 8 kilos
I,am after to get some new gear next couple months for next winter, exped matteress, getting heavier and perhaps a lighter tent going to see if there are any discounts this spring
Nice vidio :-)
What is the drysack used in this vidio?
I think it's good idea to pack.
I'm using quasar tent.
Hi was a while ago this vidio, my rucksack was probably a old army type which I don,t use now as too heavy, made by miltec I think, Pat
Did It for one night myself. Awesome views!
Best place to be is up on Kinder, thanks Pat
Good video
Hi Patrick ' does the terra nova stand up well to high winds? Thanks pal
Really well William, not got the tent now sold it due to it been a bit heavy and bought my Soulo, but it's the strongest tent I,ve slept in, never really moves in the wind, just as solid as a rock, thanks Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 just purchased 1 pal 'thanks
Iv had my old 2 man terra nova tent for 20 + years now and it is still going strong! 132.3mph actual recorded wind data speed before the gauge broke! and i only cracked 1 tent pole, No wonder they are tested in wind tunnels up to 120 mph, But the best thing is to go on the web page and download a free delivery address and they send you a voucher for 30% off a brand new tent when you hand back your old one with the free mailing address SAE, They recondition the old ones and sell them onto students on a budget and they give you 30% off a new top of the range tent,
Yes such a strong tent the Quasar, I felt so safe in mine, I only sold it because of the weight, but a bomb like tent, thanks Pat
Hi Patrick 'what boots do you use for winter 'thanks
Hi William, Scarpa Manta Pro, waterproof and ridged enough for crampons, not that I envisage getting any snow, thanks Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 thanks pal
