    So basically, even in the last stages of OCD recovery accept, disregard with sarcasm and ERP, and live life as normal as you can until recovery is full. Is that right Ali?

    Why is it that thoughts without anxiety seem more real feel more real and scary??

      How are you doing now?

    • @KhanCarnivore
      @KhanCarnivore Год назад

      Because you learned that anxiety around the thought means you don't like it. It's checking, a compulsion.
      So now when you get a thought that you think SHOULD scare you, and it doesn't, now you think it's more likely to be true.
      In reality, you're making progress, and the anxious charge just isn't there anymore. This is a great sign.

  • @samealey8517
    @samealey8517 4 года назад +12

    'maybe I don't need to send the thought to you with high anxiety anymore' 👏
    Yes you still get the thoughts but without anxiety. So the brain literally no longer sends with anxiety - that's when you're cured when the brain drops the attached anxiety!
    Thanks as always Ali 🏆👏

      But its normal when the thoughts still come in because my anxiety went down through ERP but now i got the thoughts without feeling bad

  • @charliescozycorner
    @charliescozycorner Год назад +2

    Ali, when my anxiety lowers, I always get scared because OCD always tells me that I’ve found my truth and I want to do the thing. And then I’m right back into anxiety.

    • @KhanCarnivore
      @KhanCarnivore Год назад

      Threat analysis. Your brain is doing its job, just in overdrive. I get this same sensation. Why do I not fear the though of harming my daughter anymore? What if I want to do it? Boom, anxiety.
      Finds another route. Hence accepting the thoughts no matter their charge. Difficult but doable my friend ❤

    Thank you for your helpful videos. For me, it is extremely hard, I mean unimaginably hard to sit through the anxiety, especially when I am trying to continue to do what I was before the thought. Eventually, I give in and stop what I was doing and do a compulsion. How do we sit through the anxiety when we are trying to complete something important and the OCD is stopping us?

    I’d love to see a video on tips for when you’ve entered recovery, but things slip slightly... I find since my recovery whenever immensely stressful things come up the harm ocd or whatever will be like oh hello, did you miss me? Are we done? We’re you sure ? And I know to ignore it, thankfully that’s fine! But I’d love to hear like tips on maintaining it when you’ve passed that recovery point. Because it can be a bit like oh - haven’t had to deal with this for a bit hmm... you know? Lesso of MAYBE ITS REAL! I don’t get that, but more of, when this happens... tips on reminding yourself of the path when you haven’t had to practice it in awhile since it was essentially on auto pilot for awhile.
