I absolutely adore the voice crack star platinum has throwing the tower. I think it really brings back the fact that these feats aren’t being done effortlessly like they sometimes feel. Also it’s adorable as all hell and I wanna give him a hug now
i love the ova's interpretation of Star Platinum. He is less controlled by Jotaro and more like a guardian angel, and he is the one that can comfortably move in stopped time, not Jotaro. In the series, it seems like Jotaro never loses control during this battle, here at 4:10 Jotaro has absolutely no control over the situation
It looked more to me like Jotaro exerting himself so much that he doesn't have any other expression but pained focus. Like he knows he's dead if he doesn't use everything he has at that point.
The OVA has more feeling into it, more expressions for example: Jotaro's and Star Platinum's Facial Expressions at 2:23 where they actually show fear Star Platinum's Voice crack (even though accidental) showed that he was actually struggling to pick up that piece from the building at 3:53 And Jotaro actually shows an expression of fear at the Oil Tanker scene. Dio shows more Surprise, Fear and Joy throughout the whole thing. you get my point
@@bortus-kun1684 You get the best of both worlds. One treats the part more serious and dramatic while the other likes to also goof around because that's Araki's vision in the manga
Somehow, with that visible recoil and ragdolling it looks a lot more painful than the TV punch, where he just nukes into the pavement like it's DBZ. Like, that's objectively a _harder_ punch but here you can actually see him get thrown around instead of disappearing in a cloud of debris. Also, that rear shot of Star Platinum emerging out of Jotaro is dope as hell. In the anime (where Dio actually brings the sign down first, admittedly) he's kinda suddenly just... there. :/

Fun Fact: Since their recession in the early 90s, Japan has never truly recovered. Much like in the West, inflation of unbacked fiat currency ruins everything, making everyone poorer, and working longer for less. It's basically an invisible tax on prosperity, and much like high gas prices effecting everything car related - inflation debases all industries in your economy, that includes animated entertainment. Since the 90s you can track anime getting progressively shorter (average) run times, not just in length of episode, but of episode count per season as well. Things didn't look as bad at first because of the switch to digital in the late 90s giving the industry a way to cut corners more easily and save costs... the inflation didn't stop however, and the rot continues even now. After the early 2000s anime boom, full of bouncy and colorful new shows, you see the downfall continue with budgets continuing to get tighter and tighter per season.
