- Here at BeatGrade we decided to do our own Top Ten series of great producers. This feature is the legendary Marley Marl. He's your favorite producer's favorite producer and was also the pioneer who invented sampling. He is credited with influencing a number of hip hop icons such as RZA, DJ Premier, Madlib, and Pete Rock. Producer Madlib stated in an interview that Marley was the first producer who inspired him to make beats.
Vibe magazine wrote that he, "forever changed the sound of hip-hop with his unique beat barrages. He has produced for the Juice Crew, Big Daddy Kane, KRS One, Immortal Technique, LL Cool J, and more.
