- This feature is a somewhat underrated Hip Hop producer, Hi-Tek. He has produced for some of the biggest names in Hip Hop. Mos Def, Talib Kweli of Black Star, Nas, 50 Cent, The Game, Common and more. Hi-Tek has produced some of the best Hip Hop beats of all time in our opinion. Hi-Tek started his career with hip hop group Mood and had a regional hit with "Hustle on the Side". That song was made for Mood's album Doom, which featured amongst others Brooklyn MC Talib Kweli. Hi-Tek went on to produce most of Talib Kweli and Mos Def's Black Star (1998). In 2000, Tek and Kweli (under the name Reflection Eternal) released Train of Thought (2000) on Rawkus Records, with raps by Kweli and beats by Hi-Tek. It enjoyed moderate crossover radio success with the singles "The Blast" and "Move Somethin'". After signing to Rawkus Records, Hi-Tek produced for a number of the labels projects, including the popular Soundbombing series; a three-record compilation of mostly Rawkus-based artists. In 2001, he released his solo album Hi-Teknology on Rawkus. The album featured appearances by Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Common, Vinia Mojica, Buckshot, and others, with all production handled by Hi-Tek. It received critical acclaim and spawned a minor hit, "Round and Round" with Cincinnati singer Jonell.
Hi-Tek is a staff producer for Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment and its affiliates, as well as previous associates such as Kweli and Mos Def. He has also recorded songs for Dion Jenkins, an R&B singer signed to Aftermath. Hi-Teknology 2 was released October 17, 2006 on Babygrande, and distributed by Koch Entertainment.

@@jeremiahlofton4534 As he should! I like both of them I couldn’t choose. A real producer has their own sound. Dilla, Hi Tek, Dj Premier, Pete Rock, Alchemist. All these guys sample but all have their own sound and they way the flip things.
@@Aaa-pz6nh Facts there’s a unique approach every producer has that makes them stand out… I just know in my soul being from the same area west side Detroit Michigan that Dilla is my top producer I dug deep into his craft he put his heart and soul into dropping his last beat on his deathbed in a hospital he had too much potential and underground shine
Cmon no Ol English or Ryder Music! His work with G-Unit is overlooked.
Ryder Music is so soulful. I can't hear anyone except 50 Cent over that track. His cadence was perfect on that track.

The Blast is what made me take notice of him. It's hard to get a real bonafide hip hop hit as a producer. I'm glad he got at least a few under his belt. 💯
yeah do you know how he did that? Like how to get that wobble sounds effect on sample? he sampled heatwave - boogie nights. He put some wobble effect or something to its vocal. and looped it. that OoOooohh OOooooh.

Hi-Tek is so consistent with his, you could’ve had any beat he made be #1 and people wouldn’t argue.
When I was getting super deep into hip hop back in the early '00s, Hi-Tek was my favorite.

By far, my favorite is "G-Unit" (the intro for the Beg For Mercy) album. There's so much genius in that beat.

@@avbugsy38 yea for the main part he didn't even take much and he turned it into a whole groove. Then took it next level with the bass line he played-he made it melodic on its own. It's just a shame we never got an official instrumental version

Didn't knew he's at Aftermath staff.. Knew hm ferom Black Star (Mos Def & Talib Kweli) and Rawkus stuff..The Reflection Eternal album is awesome. the secopnd one. Damn expensive on vinyl (Colored, gatefold). About 100 €. My #1 is Black Star - Definition (#4 on the list)

I’ve been in Seattle for 2 years. I might not have many songs out but I make beats and my equipment in Baltimore. I have a studio & as much as I try laptops cool but I miss my mpc technics records and Roland. I just wanna escape into the music I make. After I came off life support hip hop literally saved my life. Seriously I don’t care about success I just wanna produce beats (music) until I die.
