@@joew.4073 I'm quite a bit further into the campaign now, and I also think it's a d&d beyond problem now. All the players consistently keep forgetting what they have in their inventories. The app is great to manage your character and spells, but isn't the greatest for maintaining an overview of your inventory. No matter how great apps and digital aids get, sometimes there's no substitute for a simple physical notebook or even piece of paper. Just the act of scribbling something down on your inventory paper/page takes so much less effort that adding it in an app that requires typing. Especially with simple non magical items...
Rhiannon, you were right. It is 3d8 on the 1st level smite , because base is 2d8 + 1d8 to undead and fiends. Do not be afraid to say to the DM that he is wrong, as he cannot be asked to remember all the abilities of all classes.

Maybe the BEST episode this entire series so far! I LOVE the tension and drama going on. Edging between exceptional danger and a wealth of knowledge for every party member! Mark, you have been an amazing influence on my DM style. This episode was everything I want my stories to be!
That's how a lot of people DM - if someone says something innocuous as part of RP you consider whether or that should be made part of the plot, even if it's a minor part. It's a pick and choose type of thing and helps the players connect more with the world they find themselves in and the situation at hand. No man is an island, and all that jazz. X3

I KNEW there was something fishy about the prince in the mirror when the princess claimed that the prince never told her what world he was from, and when Quillek was told in his dream that the mirror held dark power, I freaked out. This was a very interesting encounter, and even with what I know know, I do not know how I would try to solve this. The princess seems of good intentions and driven by love, and I think she deserves to pass on peacefully, but the prince she was in love with was probably lying to enter Aerois and take over this word, thus it was not safe to rebuild the mirror. It’s a win lose situation, because to release her spirit, you must also release a dark force into the world
Mark is the DM I aspire to be. The way he sucks you in, grabbing your attention with his story telling and descriptions of player events, like dreams and visions, always gets me excited just to watch and experience these things with the players. Then his villains, even though this episode can be considered a side quest for the players, are still extremely well developed and all you want to do is unravel everything with the players, once again keeping your attention locked into the game. Keep up the great stuff! Love watching and will eventually be caught up and be able to view live!
The moment you realise the barely-teenage-npc is the most effective member of the party is the moment you realise this is an Awesome Narrative campaign! I am LOVING this chaos :D

She acts as though the princess was trying to be evil and not have her eyes open during this process but that’s not it at all. The princess thought she knew what she was doing and believe in what she was doing was right. Also just because these races and places came to Aerois doesn’t mean they wanted to or that only good comes from these planes.....ugh sorry I’m blabbering. Just glad someone else said it haha.

I know this was from 3 years ago but for the future if anyone wants to do a really good haunted house for in person games. The betrayal on house on a hill board game has tiles that can be used as a nice set up. I just turned the tiles over as they explored each room and made each one a 10x10 square. It did require a little bit of set up to make the haunted house beforehand and a large area.
The decision to leave worsened the situation I think. I would have stayed and played along as long as I could. This Adventure should be made and sold, very good writing. Yes, and the role-playing as well. ☺
I am so sad that they left honestly, this could've been so cool if Lucius had to play along as Swiftsong and Nova potentially got some information about Planar magic.

Just part way through and... a few questions 1)Why in the world have they not learned by now and purchased camping gear like bedrolls and blankets? (also annoys me from another D&D stream I watch) 2) for what possible purpose did they long rest INSIDE the deadly haunted mansion after repeated warnings to you know.... Go outside down the road a bit and rest THEN come back during the day?! It doesn't make any logical sense the characters aren't in a rush and why would ANYONE not leave and go rest outside?! Arvel had the right idea.... Just you know basic logic... You think at least Aila would have walked outside and went to camp a bit down the way....At least they learned and left despite the DM almost taunting... Sad about being just shy on the XP kinda unsatisfing for all of au (players and viewers) Still he decided to be firm on the XP. This series keeps getting better! I hope everyone is there next time kinda sucks with missing players.

I'm pretty sure Mark knows what he's doing way better than I do, but in situations like those, when PCs are almost dead, I always fumble on the random encounter dice. Nothing feels worse than losing your character to a random encounter.
Personal take; if you gonna fudge the dice, why roll em in the first place? Bad things happening is part of the game and often when some of the best memories come from.
@@HighRollersDnD I roll it just to make players hear the roll and quiver in fear :D It also depends on which encounter I get, and how weak the party is. In this case, where some of the characters are literally one hit from permanent death and the monsters are mindless killing machines, I would skip the encounter. If there was a chance of getting out of it without just combat, i would have gone for it. It also depends on where the party is resting. Anyway, thanks for the reply, I'm honored! I'll skip the fudging next time and see what happens!

I'm pretty sure Mark knows what he's doing way better than I do, but in situations like those, when PCs are almost dead, I always fumble on the random encounter dice. Nothing feels worse than losing your character to a random encounter.
Personal take; if you gonna fudge the dice, why roll em in the first place? Bad things happening is part of the game and often when some of the best memories come from.

It also depends on which encounter I get, and how weak the party is. In this case, where some of the characters are literally one hit from permanent death and the monsters are mindless killing machines, I would skip the encounter. If there was a chance of getting out of it without just combat, i would have gone for it. It also depends on where the party is resting.
