      How does your foolish mind separate the two! They are correlated and intertwined. Look at it like this, if you deny a person or an investor a visa how on earth will he trade with us, how will he interact with locals and build new networks for business! Your hatred for President Ruto is making you people sound stupid, if it was Raila doing it you will be praising it saying that we are demolishing the colonial boundaries set on us! Bure nyinyi!

    Dr. Martin Oloo is not informed about visa policies. Anyone who wants to comment about this policy needs to read about African Development Bank Visa Openess Report which is published every year. This fear mongering about influx is unfounded. We currently travel to Uganda and Rwanda using our ID's and we still go through security checks at the borders. Passport holders get stamped in and out. We don't have to comment about everything just for the sake. I rarely agree with Ruto's policies but on this one he is spot on. Any challenges that will arise can be tackeled with time. We need Free Movement to allow AfCFTA to grow, come on people!!!!

    • @mataamaina3800
      @mataamaina3800 9 месяцев назад

      So you read an article and you are now an authority 😮 there is reciprocity we can go to other E.A countries and they can come to us but with this no visa policies for everyone has no recipricity

    • @BS-kl9yf
      @BS-kl9yf 9 месяцев назад

      @@mataamaina3800 I am an authority because it is an annual report we produce to boost trade in Africa. I don't just read it, I contribute to its publication. Reciprocity has not worked since the founding of OAU and is one of the indicators we use in the report. Africans are not trading enough because of this selfishness and someone has to make a unilateral decision as others catch up. The issue he raised was about security and lose of control about who will enter Kenya. This is common sense nobody should struggle with.

      I was thinking about this. The good thing about Rwanda is that there's law and order. A govt official there told me that he's never heard of a single case of corruption. You dare do something that they're against, you're in trouble before you know it. They have systems in place, cops/army everywhere. I get concerned that bad things could really fester due to corruption here. I'm not against AfCFTA and all that. We think that South Africans are "different" and "bad", without getting to understand how they would get as far as killing people. My opinion of the president after observing his career over 30 years is that he can be really short-sighted. That's not saying he's not done good things. But I can't resign to assuming that his decisions are very well thought out and I can relax.

    • @BS-kl9yf
      @BS-kl9yf 9 месяцев назад

      @@panafrican.nation the President's decision is part of the African Free Movement Protocol that ought to have been fast-tracked before AfCFTA. AfCFTA is struggling because you cannot say you want to trade, then I reach your borders and you deny entry of my goods because my driver's passport will expire in five months, and he couldn't process it because the other country also delayed his journey. This is not something out of the blue. It is currently working in the EU, in Mexico and certain cities in China allow visitors limited duration of free visa entry as long as you have a valid airticket. This makes travelling easier for Business tourists. These skepticisms are what have contributed to Africans staying divided. We shout about United States of Africa, and when someone takes a step, we are whining instead of supporting progress. What an irony!

    From a personal level, Kenyans traveling on foreign passports should have to need visas to visit the country of their birth. I went through hell 7 months ago trying to get a visa to my homeland and the only way I was able to get it was through corruption. I was forced to give a bribe of 40, 000 schillings. I came to Kenya and did the paperwork to regain my Kenyan citizenship and up today, I haven’t heard anything. I finally decided being Kenyan is too painful and I will remain American. Besides, I can travel to most places in this world with an American passport than I would with the Kenyan one without needing a visa. That country is a shithole pit.

    You give Visas to non Kenyans without question, but, you make Kenyans abroad who have acquired citizenship elsewhere to reapply for their Kenyan citizenship. • @georgeodhiambo598
      @georgeodhiambo598 9 месяцев назад

      This issue bas its roots in the old constitutional set up. The old constitution did not allow dual citizenship. So under the old constitution, if a Kenyan acquired foreign citizenship, you were deemed to have transferred your loyalty to the foreign country and lost Kenyan citizenship.
      The new Constitution recognized that challenge and took into account that several Kenyans acquired foreign citizenship at a time Moi's repressive regime was driving Kenyans into exile. And the new Constitution gas a clause requiring Kenyans who "lost" Kenya's citizenship to re-apply.

    Eric, umezoea living among people of great poverty and lack of resources. The outside world is brimming with wealth and resources and it is only our "walls" that have kept them from swooping in to take advantage of our weakness, lack of resources and non-comoetitiveness!
    KE is a neo-colonial jurisdiction being dictated to by the Powers outside. They have designs on KE that are completely by-passing the Kenyan electorate and citizenry. Thus, loss of sovereignty.

      Because you don't pay attention. Cite what you disagree with and give your argument how to make it better. Commenting just for the sake of it without adding value makes you a noise maker.
