  • In this how-to video I'll walk you step by step through taking an old spaghetti or canning jar and creating a beautifully designed centerpiece or gift container! A shout out goes to Michael L. Smith for his video on Mason jar rehabs, but I'll take it in another direction with mylar and tips. This is great for those with a Cricut or other cutting machine but can be completed by hand.
    You will need:
    - 8oz canning jar with or without lid, cleaned
    - About an ounce EACH of a good chalk paint
(here is what I used: Amy Howard Black Chalk Paint ~ bit.ly/BlackOS..., and White ~ bit.ly/BalletW...)
    - Stir sticks
    - Paint Tray or paper plate
    - Low pile 4 inch paint roller
    - Chip brush
    - Glue: E6000, Gorilla, Elmers, or hot glue
    - Scissors
    - Parchment paper and kitchen towel, recommended but optional, if you want to roll and glue design overnight
    - Mylar recommended 12x12 piece as 8oz jar generally take 10" design cut
    - Cricut or other cutting machine with design library or your creativity, OR scissors and traced 10" long (by about 1" tall) design you cut by hand
    - Dixie Belle Slick Stick if you're not using Amy Howard chalk paint which will bond to glass when it cures after 48 hours to 2 weeks
    - Polycrylic or matte sealer, optional (not needed for Amy Howard chalk paints)
Note: I only recommend those products I have used successfully and am completely happy with. I may earn a small commission if you purchase Amy Howard products through the links provided, but it is at no additional expense to you.
