    Great video, great tones! I think every guitar player can remember "that one amp" that really changed the game for them. For me, that was this weird Peavey Windsor 100w head and 4x12 cabinet that I traded an old 1985 Ibanez for. Generally regarded as a "bad" JCM800 clone, but after years of playing little Crate and Fender combos, that sound of a raging 100W EL34 head through a massive slant cab is one that I'll never forget. Loved Peavey since then - my most recent acquisition is a Peavey XXL solid state combo, and it too will peel paint off the walls - sounds amazing too.

      I have a mini Rectoverb 25 watt head & a mini Rectifier 1x12 cab! It’s a mini half stack & it’s so powerful I can use it in clubs .. pretty much anywhere I may play out. 🎸

    I know this is an old video but can you share your metal settings? Just picked up a retroverb 50 and I’m trying to dial it in. Thanks and have a great day!

    • @LucasFowler
      @LucasFowler  Год назад +1

      I can actually remember this one. I set the Gain at about 11:00, the Treble at 1:00, Mids at 11:00 and the Bass at 3:00ish. The important part there is that you need a tightening boost, like the Mud-Killer I'm using, a Tubescreamer, or something similar. This will help suck up that "flub" in the low end. Recto's are notoriously flubby and they take a fair bit of time to dial in for your individual guitar, pickups, cabinet, speaker, etc.

    I have one but cant dial out the fizz? Any suggestions ?

    • @LucasFowler
      @LucasFowler  Год назад +1

      So, you can dial a lot of fizz out with the presence control, setting it in the "vintage" mode, etc. The most powerful tool would be a graphic eq in the fx loop.
      I would add though, a big part of the Recto sound _is_ the fizz. It sounds very harsh by itself but in the context of the band it becomes very three--dimensional and gives you that iconic grinding sound. I gigged with Rectos for years and this is a problem I noticed, I would hate the sound at home but then it would sound great in rehearsal or live, or it would sound warm and fat at home but like a farty mess live. Your mileage may vary of course. Probably the graphic EQ that you can use to taste per situation is the best and easiest solution.

    My regular DR...not as good as I hoped. But, the Rectoverb? Yes....even better than I remembered. In a band setting, that is.

    Ben Burnley uses a Randall. It does sound a lot like a Rectifier.

      I don't know if he's still using these, but he used to use a Randall RM100 with "Recto" module. You can hear him talk about it here:

    I bought this amp last night, and cancelled it today. Hopefully they cancel it. After hearing this demo it's not going to be the amp for me. I never play with that much gain.
