Yeah as a manga reader, it’s not a tearjerker. It’s bittersweet. But it’s not To Your Eternity, something I see this compared to way too often for superficial reasons. It’s a beautiful story and highly regarded for a reason.
I agree. As a fellow manga reader, I felt immense pity for our favorite eleven mage, however, I did not cry.
Manga is goated.
I don't see much of a problem with that comparison.
Essentially, both stories revolve around ageless or seemingly ageless beings and the life they are living. They obviously went through different paths and Frieren isn't a shape shifting sphere XD
The storytelling in Frieren is a bit more laid back and shows the little things during their travels, which is probably one of its charms.
I'd say the setting and both main characters have a bit of similarity, but that's all.
I wonder what kind of comparisons people make of the two shows. Never seen those people.
I like Frieren more btw, I guess I appreciate a slower pace and build of character and plot.
@@hidinn6030Crying is not always a measurement for how sad something is. It also depends on the person.
@@hidinn6030Also, agreed.
@@hidinn6030I'm not sure if the "I didn't cry" is a compliment or an Insult
Frieren is the embodiment of “don’t be sad because it’s over, be happy because it happends”. It is never depressing, the entire manga is bittersweet. When she remembers stuffs from the past, most of the time she smiles because it happended.
It's basically the Japanese concept of Transient beauty/Mono no Aware on full display. Things are beautiful because they are impermanent.
Well said. I'll memorise this proverb.
@@HubiKoshi that's some wise concept!
Damn regret😅
"because it 'happened'", and just happened not 'happeneded'
I can see why people thought Frieren was sad. Losing someone that you didn't get to know enough is sad, and the music is by Evan Call, who did Violet Evergarden. But I never thought of it as that sad. Frieren may have not spent enough time with her party members, but the audience didn't really know them either. I think of Frieren more as a little melancholic as we witness time passing from her perspective.
As an anime only, I found Frieren, the show, full of bittersweet love and absolutely life affirming. Yes, Himmel's and Heiter's passings were sad, but again, they led lives full of life and love. I really enjoyed the show's theme, and can't wait for next week's adventure.
it has ended for now, its quite possible frieren may get the one punch man treatment but I just hope it doesn't
I think the appeal of Frieren for me is not only the characters but the story always makes a point to appreciate the little things in life, like how people in towns don't remember the heroes because they defeated the Demon king but because the party helped them in small ways that didn't affect the world at large but for the town, it meant everything for them
It's fitting that you refer to Frieren as a teenager. While they don't ever say exactly how old Frieren is, you basically get the idea over the course of the story that she's a bit over 1000 years old. Given that elves in this series are, much like Tolkein elves, effectively immortal, and barring a violent death or illness will easily live for multiple thousands of years, she effectively _is_ an adolescent. She's not quite a child (except, arguably, in the furthest back flashbacks of her past), but she clearly looks less mature than the handful of adult elves you see over the course of the series, most of whom are established to be well older than she is.
The two other elves that appear jn the storry essentially view her as a child
I started wondering how old Serie is? Because she also looks young
@@ky8252 Serie is so old than even Macht doesn't remember her when she was on the front scene killing demons. She said she lived during mythical ages, which should make her at least 10 000 years old or so. We just don't know if it's 10 000 or a 1 million ^^'. She is probably the oldest being we encountered (except maybe the deceased demon king).
Frieren's cry is impactful exactly because it's something that probably won't happen again for a very long time. It's the beginning of a new chapter of her life, one where she makes an effort to learn more about the ephemeral people that live around her because she doesn't want to have more regrets like the one with Himmel. The story is about her finding beauty and meaning where she previously couldn't, because, as she herself said "What use is teaching magic to a human? They die right away afterwards". This is a story of growth and escape from apathy, not of depression and nihilism.
I never read the manga, but in just one episode the anime had me hooked. I watched the ending credits around 20 times and only now I don't cry EVERY time. They did a wonderful job, the story, the art direction, the music... Just everything. I'll surely watch it to the end.
I think the age of the reader and viewer makes a difference in how the sadness affects them. I only found it as a 64 year old, and the flashbacks affected me a lot.
To me, Sou Sou Frieren is much more than a story about time. It is more than a story about fully appreciating the preciousness of every moment of our lives. It is more than a story about the deep fufillment of sharing those moments with those in the present, leaving something worth sharing with those in the future, and preserving those connections with those who have passed. Frieren's story is also a tale of constant rebirth, transformation, and renewal.
I find it deeply comforting just how many ideas Sou Sou Frieren shares about life. How to value more deeply the time of those who have less left than yourself. How important it is to not let prior knowledge or experience get in the way of growth. How even change is not always permanent: changes can sometimes be reversed. The importance of imagination: visualizing the impossible so that it can be made real.
Sou Sou Frieren is one of those rare stories that are worth rereading / rewatching over and over again. The story feeds the soul, the messages are timeless, and every time you go through the story you are bound to learn something worthwhile.
Maybe you have read or seen GTO"great teacher onizuka" that has great value and show men and women whats it means to be an adult.
It's great
It's a decent melancholy story about Frieren an aloof, forever teenage, eccentric, Eleven girl...Who suddenly starts to realize the loss of her friends who have shorter life spans....
I think manga readers also fail to realize that at first, Chapter 1 really doesn't have much impact on you. You have spent barely any time with the Frieren, let alone Himmel and her party before seeing the funeral scene. It's throughout the story in the moments where Frieren reminisces about them, learning more and more how much they impacted her in their short time together, that we actually start truly appreciating and missing her old party. It's through this that I think we're able to truly empathize with Frieren. Her time with them no doubt felt as short to her as our brief time with them in the manga, yet the melancholic love for them only grows as time goes on. It's a great feat of storytelling to be able to get us normie human readers to gain empathy for experiences of characters that we'll never truly experience (living for thousands of years while being an eternal shortie).
As a German, its quite awkward listen to so much german words xD but quite comfy. This anime is toptier, rly. There is no other anime about the rly length to longliving individuals in this examples like the elves. Very interessting viewpoint. But farewell is, doesnt even matter which kind of race, a tough thing.
Time is the precious treasures thing that human have
Frieren is the opposite of depressing, because it shows whats rly matter.
Great analysis! I always called Frieren more of a sentimental series rather than a sad one; it has a lot more emotional depth than some people credit for and I’m glad you touch upon the theme of time. First time I’ve see a video of yours but I’m interested in seeing more~
I think many are mistaken about why Frieren cried. Frieren does not cry because of her friend's death, it's because she knows they don't live forever, but didn't try to know them enough. That's why her friend says that she's kind.
Frieren definitely isn't some kind of edgy tearjerker that'll kill his cast for the sake of drama. It's about grief and grief isn't about seeing everyone die, it's about seeing a world devoid of someone you love even tho you feel like you needed to spend more time with that person.
I like this take much more because it hits closer to what a real grief feel like. As the story unfolds, through the (numerous) flashbacks we end up feeling the same as the MC : we wish we could have spent more than a few chapters with them.
Frieren is about time, about grief, about forging relationships, about enjoying life, about improving yourself and about being human (as emotionnally and stuff, the demons are there to remind us that as far as Frieren seems from people, she is still more human they ever can be). And it is amazing !
As someone who hasn't started this series yet I appreciate the clarification. Based on what you said, this reminds me a lot of Goblin Slayer. My best friend couldn't really get into the series himself. Said everyone having generic names in a typical fantasy world took him out of it. But for me I thought that was kinda of the point. Goblin Slayer looks at a different aspect of the adventure. The everyday danger of the mob monsters that goes largely ignored and a group of adventures that take up the cause of dealing with it for their own reasons. So by not naming anyone it really helps you apply the idea of the story to any other fantasy world. Frienen seems to be doing a similar thing. Though with the idea of the what will the characters (especially the immortal ones) do after the quest is done.
Goblin Slayer is literally D&D ðough. Ðat's why ðey don't have names.
The opening did a great job conveying this too imo. It started sad, after Himmels death Frieren felt regret, but the memories of him kept her happy. It went on to say how he changed the ppl around him for the better, and that included herself, and that she wanted to learn to love the land he protected, and the people living there. Finally it was kind of a send off to Himmel, how she still thought abt their time tgt, and even if everyone else hd forgotten abt him in the passage of time, she d still rmb, of how he started her new life. And now she will begin a new journey with him looking after her from above, in the world that they saved.
The song as a whole was hopeful, there r regrets, but it is also what makes her the person she is today, and the ppl that changed her for the better. And she will move forward with the memories, along with the ppl living in the peaceful world that they created, in the evergrowing world.
This is what most people overlook, most people don't like the op done by Yoasobi thinking that it's not suited to fantasy theme. They be like Yoasobi it's too upbeat and should be more mellow because it's fit the theme.
But just as this video said, most of the time it's just a mundane everyday occurrence of Frieren re-tracing her previous adventure with hero party. Most of the time it's just goofy moments sprinkled with action and sad moments here and there.
@@laststand84 I totally agree. I don't really engage in Anime discussion but my impression of the song was that while it does sound out of place, if you actually understand what the anime is talking about, you can get the feeling Yoasobi is trying to get across with the song. I didn't read too much into the lyrics but just from the music, the op feels more like the regret of not knowing more about you but still celebrating the fact that we underwent a journey together. Thought you may have passed on, you remain in my memory and the memory of everyone you helped. And I will continue to remember you after everyone else have forgotten.
I never felt that the anime itself was sad. It was more of a legacy journey; a new game plus if you will. The feeling of watching a close friend leaving but still remembering the time together. The desire to know more about you and the world you have left behind.
I agree, its totally understandable dat lot of people didn't read ze lyrics lul, or there is no subtitles when opening song start.. its Journey of Frieren after her adventure with her friend (party)
All true… yet it seems easy to overlook, *why* Frieren is embarking on this new journey: she’s travelling to the far north, to try and find Aureole, the literal “heaven-on-earth” where the souls of the departed reside, and Frieren hopes to meet Himmel’s spirit there. I have a theory she is realising not only that her dear friend was also in love with her, but that she loved him too, and she would literally fight through a world of demons and take as long as it takes to find Aureole, and get the chance to see Himmel again. TL;DR (!): maybe this *is* Frieren moving on, or maybe she is on a quest to make things right with an old and dear friend. At least Frieren has that possibility in her universe…
I wanted to say ðat too. Despite her singing her heart out for how much she misses Himmel, if you look beyond ðe surface, it is very obvious ðat she is implying someþing more ðan friendship and attachment. If you consider ðe fact ðat "Kimi" was considered affectionate and intimate in Old Japanese, and ðe fact ðat she's a 1000 year old elf, it's very clear what she means, even if she is doing her best to not make it obvious wið her wording. Ðe "Kimi" just gives it away immediately. No ordinary person would know ðis, even Japanese people, so it's almost like a secret love letter from Frieren to Himmel.@@digitalramyun
Yes. True. *THIS IS ONE OF VERY FEW ANIMES WHICH MAKE ME CONTEMPLATE ABOUT LIFE A LOT. LIKE, REALLY, A LOT. I WAS CRYING ON THE MANGA. AND CRY A LOT MORE ON THE ANIME. A LOT.* Even months ago I can feel what she really feels. Everything start to feel really slow for me. Even the time.
I read it since before the anime adaptation got announced, surprised that it get animated, and really, *IT'S NOT ABOUT A STORY FULL OF DEPRESSING MOMENTS. NOT AT ALL.* It's about how life truly is, with ups and downs. Some bitters, and sweets later. Alternating, always. And yes, the vibe I got, is, it's really quiet. The only anime which make me like *'IT FEELS LIKE WHAT I FEEL EVERYDAY, A QUIET, LIFE WITH NO BGM.'* This vibe also the reason why the story kinda very similar with real life experience. My mind, too, become quieter.
Gives me some similar vibes to "To your eternity'
@@mamabudgieclipper2735 I see. It's just for me, Fushi's story in manga doesn't appeal me anymore since last year. Or event since 2021 maybe. It feels boring bit by bit. It's weird. That's why I'm not interested in the anime at all. But with Frieren's, even the manga gives the sense of serenity, I don't even know why. Literally one the very few animes which change me, turn me into the current me.
elves live for 3000 years in your avg fantasy, but you're severely underestimating elf live span in this universe.
she once said that her 10 year journey with himmel was(n't even) one one hundredths or 0.01% of her life, 10x(100/0.01) = 100.000 years at least. which makes it more depressing imo.
for humans that'd be a 2.92 day journey
Building off the “time moves on” section, the biggest thing I took from both the manga and the first episode of the anime is how the perception and “weight” of time is different. I work in a long term position in academia surrounded by people who move on in 2-5 years. I have the time to build out ground knowledge to design and execute the “perfect” experiment but the postdoc who’s in year 4 of their 5 year postdoc? They need to get it done yesterday. The Era Meteor shower scene really gelled that idea in my mind. I can come back in 50 years and watch the meteors in a better spot, but can they?
My favorite part of this show, is that after she realized just how much of an impact Himmel had on her despite how little she really knew of him when it was too late. And then, she never makes that mistake again.
I think one of the best examples of what you’re talking about is the statues. Throughout the story there’s a running thing where frieren will come to a town and there will be a statue of Himmel or the group or another hero who fought the demons and it will be in disrepair as the people who remember what the statue meant fade away and no one really bothers to repair the statues.
it's NOT depressing. it's melancholic and bittersweet.
Frieren: All my friends are dead 😭
Me: At least you have friends 😟
ikr :v
I feel it is sad at multiple parts of the story, but more happy sad? Maybe bittersweet might be a better word? The overall purpose of the manga is to teach us to value every moment in life and pursue events and relationships that contribute to those values.
The main character is definitely someone we can get invested into.
I think my favorite thing from Frieren is how it demonstrates the impact you have on the world. What good deeds do for a wider population. That even the most insignificant things can have a long lasting impact. I think the best example of this, is when, (incredibly minor spoiler)
Frieren had said, when referring to Himmel,
"You are a ray of light"
It's sad but not depressing, in contrast, its very motivative..
For me, Frieren felt like the Silmarilion and the Lord of the Rings were the same book. I loved how she is part of the deeper, mythological past, and how that is showed to us, but at the same time she also is the centre piece of the story in the present. The whole time I was imagining if that was how that felt for Legolas or Elrond in Lotr.
Idk Im gonna start the manga but I cant get over the fact that Himmel never started a family. I feel like he was waiting for Frieren the whole time she was out getting spells of whateverthehell. It's like Rudeus and Eris without a happy ending.
In more ways than one lmao.
Ok but... (I haven't read the manga) The direction of the anime- Cinematography and soundtrack, mainly - Is so so so fucking boooorrrriiiiinnnngggggg And that ruins the entire experience for me. I do enjoy the concept, but thus far... Blech.
Time and memories are a depressive topic for me which is why i find the story depressing you never know if the thing you choose to spend your time on is right or wrong because you dont get the choice to do both in the span of that time. I chose to work after school instead of college sure i can go to college now but i cannot have that young life college time. Rather i chose to get a job and house first. Theirs really no right nor wrong to spending your time but youll never know how the others option may have went.
Frieren isnt sad cause its depressing its sad cause its beautiful
Not sure how everyone else saw it, from how I see it since the manga, she's isn't just sad that she lost her friends, she's regrets that she didn't get to know them more than she have in those 10 years. While similar, there is still a different between depressed and regrets. She may accept the fact that her companions' lifespan are shorter than her, but the time she didn't get to spent with them is something that isn't easy to ignore.
If an elf, with a lifespan of 3,000 years, experienced 10 years of their life, it would be equivalent to a human who lives to 100 years spending 108 days of their life. This may not be considered a fleeting moment, particularly if those 10 years were filled with intense and memorable experiences, such as enduring a warzone (negative) or enjoying an extended vacation in a captivating foreign country (positive). Elves likely have extended periods of relative inactivity in their long lives, so the moments when something significant occurs would indeed have a profound impact on their personalities.
Moreover, elves might possess a unique duality in their thought processes. At times, they could be short-sighted, focused on the immediate present, and making decisions based on shorter-term goals. In contrast, during other periods, they might think in much broader terms, planning and considering the consequences of their actions hundreds of years into the future. This dual perspective could add depth to their personalities, shaped by their long lifespans. Just as humans are influenced by their most significant memories, elves' dual modes of thinking could play a pivotal role in shaping their character and choices.
Frieren turned into a Shonen when the First Class Mage Exams started FML. Why would i wanna watch this now? Three Episodes of low information density low storytelling people instead explaining technique and strategy and one-upping one another.
I do appreciate and tear up in the emotional moments of her looking back on past memories from her original hero party to now making the most of her journey now plus I've read ahead in the manga but the anime was dope so far but only 2 episodes in though.
what would himmel do here is the core theme of this series
Frieren just represent that all past thing is just a moment that soon will gonna vanish and just gonna leave a very small trace.
Fieren understand more than everybody else the fear of losing a very important moment. When her old friend Himmel died, she realized that the whole 10 years of the moment just vanish with her sight and 50 years to reunite with her old friend just waste and as usual to her perspective, vanish just a moment. So that is why she have to value what she have for now because after now, everything just gonna vanish with her sight and leave alone. Everything will just lost after now.
the concept of the story actually isn't new, but it is the first time bring that concept as main story of an anime. 1 title that give me similar vibe actually a movie Maquia. and I'm not hating people that said the story depressing even though it just sad, some people watch anime looking for fun as their "vacation" through life which maybe already quite depressing, of course this kind of story is bad for them
Anyone that actually watched Frieren knows that it's not a depressing story.
🤓
a certain youtuber said the manga is tearjerking and depressing.
when I read the manga it was actually the opposite.
only the beginning is kinda sad afterwards it gets more interesting
As Frieren got her new two party members in her journey
dont listen to people exaggerating stuff like "this show is sad and break my soul" BS
This should have been the story of Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power. A smart Elf who's strong because she studies magic a lot.
Every time i watch these kind of video i wonder "how did i miss that" but its not that i missed it all. I think this anime shows how journeys can be beautiful in so many ways.
@ShonenOuji i love how humans are teachings a elf about life and more.
Also 5:30
I think what I like most about this story is the interplay between Frieren’s past and her present.
At one point on her adventure, she tell Heiter how and why she suppresses her mana. Later, by the time she meet Fern, the child can already suppress her mana and is well on her way in her studies.
The adventures, know her well even if she doesn’t know them. Heiter shows this so very well when he “lures” Frieren in to taking over Fern’s training.
the most comparable story i can find to frieren is girls last tour, which thematically should be depressing, but they're just vibing on their journey towards a goal that may or may not exist
People who say this is depressing, just want to avoid any type of sadness. Even if they're not supposed to, they want to be happy all the time. Which is the wrong way to live.
I admit the first time it was just sad or like you said "depressing" for first and second episode but soon i found out that this is slice of life fantasy world anime (which is rare) but i grow to love it altho i realize that one day if frieren still alive after 2000 years stark and fern will be no longer there with her..if there are no twist in the end of manga
People who avoid Frieren because they think its depressing has never known true despair, yet they are so fearful of it that the mere possibility of something that is similar to being depressed scares them away. Frieren is not depressing, it's quiet. This quietness is so alien in a world of tiktoks and soundbytes, that there are those who run from it, when in fact they are the ones who need it the most just for the chance to face themselves.
I have only seen two minutes of this video I don't really need to see more because it sounds like all of the things I'm about to hear is things I already knew about the anime. I love the story and I think it's great and I understand very well that it's not about how sad she is because she isn't it is about the things she experienced and the things she is experiencing now and about how she views the world too. and I think the story is a masterpiece too. and if somebody want to add more to what I said please I want to hear your opinion about how you view the story?
A rare masterpiece!
Dumb people hate this anime and this anime opening. Just think how beautiful is this art!
Well, if you knew Japanese, and analyzed ðe OP, you'd know Himmel is more ðan a friend in Frieren's eyes.
Some says it gives violet evergarden vibes. Violet evergarden destroyed me in middle so I don’t wanna go through that pace again. 😢
It literally is about remembering old memories while making new ones. The appreciation for those it what makes them special
To me the show was really overpraised to the point it was like the next oshi no ko. But yeah I like this description better as I also like to "slowroll" games to get the best experience.
yean drinking helps you stay alive longer... heck priest guy is way older when they started right??
Okay I'm happy for this clarification
Ppl had me thinking in was the greatest piece of fiction that’s the only reason I was disappointed when I watched it
THANK YOU. It always bothered me when people sold Frieren as an anime that makes you cry, like Violet Evergarden or such. It tries to make you feel-but the feelings are so much more complex and beautiful than simple sadness. It's yearning, hope, nostalgia, and bittersweet happiness.
You said it best. It's quiet. Barely anyone raises their voice, even in a fight. Everyone seems to have a different kind of smile each time they make one. It's meditative and serene, even at its most action-packed. A tale of quiet smiles and soft feelings.
I think Frieren (as a main character) is about not being able to understand each other:
Frieren does acknowledge what the party members feel about her and each other (at least part about friendship I mean imagine being 10 years with someone they will be your best friend at least) conceptually but she can't possibly feel exactly the same towards them.
(*spoilers*)
Demons - Macht wanted to undestand what it is like to 'feel emotions' but never get it causing destruction in the process, not understanding why humans are upset about it (he knows that the answer is 'emotions' but he'd never understand what this means just as we'd never understand emotions we aren't aware of existing).
there maybe other differences but I'm not sure if I overthinking - for example with age the sunrise despite how beautiful it is - is 'nothing special'. There's difference in how (pretty young?) Fern reacting to sunrise and how someone who've seen it probably million of times (Frieren)
Sooo you almighty knows everything, the show is boring
Frieren and Fern is the first time I've ever seen where two female characters are eachother's mom and daughter
it is honestly THE slice of life, you actually see bits of their daily life as they trek across the land
I always seen Frieren as a manga/anime about how time change people arround you
Freiren is the embodiment of a Filipino. Why do it now when you can do it later
"Mourn their deaths, but also celebrate their lives."
I came straight to the anime (hadn’t even heard of the manga, though I went out and bought Vol 1 after the premiere), and one thing I already value about “Frieren”: it can be many different kinds of story at the same time. As well as everything else discussed in the vid, I partly see “Frieren” as a love story with a twist. Frieren and Himmel had a deep and lasting friendship, but I believe Himmel was also in love with Frieren (I’ll stand my ground on that point: the signs are plentiful, if you look for them). Frieren didn’t pick this up, and Himmel didn’t press the matter; by the time of his funeral, Frieren is starting to realise he was a special friend, and perhaps more than that. In any other setting, she’d have to put him behind her and move on, but in this universe, Heaven is a place on earth (yeah, the song 😅), and Frieren sets out on the journey of a lifetime (probably literally, for Fern and Stark) to find the land of Aureole, and hopefully Himmel’s spirit there. Maybe once this all happens, Frieren will choose to give up her “earthly life” and remain with Himmel (and Flamme, and Heiter, and everyone else who’ll probably be there by that time)… I guess we’ll find out one day 🤷🏻♂️
But how, elf life too long
Will she commit suicide or something?
those who hate frieren, doesnt know anything about life
In my opinion, frieren is about the journey not the destination
I've read Frieren twice, it is at the moment my favorite manga. And the anime, is such a good adaptation.
The story is very well paced, even though it has multiple time skips in the beggining. It gives us that same feeling that Frieren herself feels when travelling with the Hero Party.
It's a story about a world that is in peace, but still sees sporadic troubles related with the Demon King's army remnants, even after he is defeated. The action points are not the core, but they are there.
It's sort of healing, to see the adventure developing and how Frieren is learning to understand Humans. I never thought I would like this as much I like, but i see myself smiling everytime Fern has to take care of Frieren, or everytime Fern gets mad at Stark (Fern is the show-stealer in my opinion eheh). Defenitely not a depressing show, in my opinion, it is exactly the oposite.
I will stop myself, before I write a thesis on this. This was a very good video, and I appreciate that you are spreading this masterpiece of a manga/anime to the comunity.
What they get wrong? they think it's a good show
i love friren its great and cute need I say more lol
Why did Himmel become Chibi when he get old?
Amazing video!
Makes me wanna re-watch Casshern Sins
They're made fanon frieden.
I already knew this
Depressing isnt the right word
I would describe frieren as 'sombre'
Its about frieren looking back at her journey, following the steps she took with himmel and the others, reliving the moments that for so long, she didnt think was important
Its the same feeling of looking back at your childhood and thinking 'my mom did so much for me and i took it for granted'
Or 'high school was so much easier compared to work but i used to hate it'
Its that feeling of longing, looking back and wanting to relive those moments, but never being able to, because time has passed

I found Freiren this 2 days ago and absolutely loved it however it was during my midterm exams. I read manga instead of studying my major haha. Thats how entertaining this manga is.
you got ways to go m8 ^^
to me its comedy
It's melancholic and retrospective. The anime makes you enjoy every second of the time spent watching it.
Ngl, I'm guilty of this ever since the first chapter when it came out, even after dozens of chapters. I always felt like there's at least a few time skips, assuming Fern would be decades older when a new chapter comes out after an arc and then before I knew it, she'll be gone, that's the first 2 chapters made me felt after all, that's what depressing to me about this at least.
when you mark time relative to Himmel's death you understand how Himmel's death effected Frieren. The story ties up a lot of lose ends that only Frieren can deal with now. thanks to her friends she has some one to travel with as she did in the first quest.
Nice
To me it feels that frieren is mourning... It is happy with a pinch of sadness. Calming yet uneasy
I love Frieren WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO YEAHHHH.
Yup it's not depressing, it's just chill and life goes on vibe.
Its not really depressing...it just show the beautify of life
Your only miss is that you said there was only a little action even though the action scenes were almost half the manga
Really? People were sying it's depressing? To me it feels like a feel good show so far.
I have not yet read or seen anyone who doesn't like/love this anime. I don't think that people are so averse to being a bit sad. Being a bit depressed is not bad - I don't know who the target audience of this video is.
Great review without many spoilers!
Frieren is peak
Frieren really has that feeling i had when i meet new people and i get to know them, and having interesting events happening.
