@@e.mchristina5260 I hope you hear back soon. I got a conditional a couple weeks ago and I have booked my accommodation. Is Aberdeen your first choice?
There are obviously a lot of Scottish students but I'd day Aberdeen is a pretty diverse/international university. They have connections with Qatar too and so a lot of students study at Aberdeen because of that. In terms of winter, winter in Aberdeen is like winter in most other UK locations - dark, windy and cold! But thats just the UK I guess haha. Aberdeen is pretty go though as it is close to the hills for walking/skiing if that interests you as well as being right next to the beach (which is still great in winter). I'd say, in general, Aberdeen was a great city to move to when living independently for the first time. It has everything that a city needs but is still relatively small and comfortable. After 4 years there, I was ready for a change but I don't really have a bad word to say about it!
I just watched your video; and thank you for that little tour, I'm not quite sure whether it reassured me or stressed me out a bit more from how huge it is ! XD I'm a French HS student and I'm applying for Aberdeen University this year, I gotta say I am just soooo stressed out and worried as I don't know anyone in Scotland ^°^' Anyway, thank you a lot for this little uni tour, really!
Aww I'm glad you enjoyed the video! And honestly don't worry about the size of the campus, you get used to it very quickly if you do end up studying here
I just watched your video because I wanted to know what I'm in for (if uni's go back in sept) I didn't manage to make it to a tour because of the lockdown so this has been really nice to see where I will be going. I was wondering if you know what uni life is like for a mature student? I'm 23 and from the south of England, so I'm scared I might feel like an outcast.
I'm glad that my video was at least a little helpful for you! I wouldn't worry about going into uni as a mature student, so many people choose to do it that way and even so, a lot of people entering first year don't go straight from school anyway!
Aberdeen looks beautiful I’ve never been to Scotland I live in East Anglia of England but I really want to travel up to Scotland and explore Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Glasgow etc! I wish I was going to university in Scotland but sadly not Edit: it was really funny to see you hiding from the rain😂😂😂
No idea if you're still actively looking at the comment section after 4 year. But any idea how Aberdeen's computer science department is? Applied to their info tech MSc. Thanks in advance
Do you have any advice for additional courses to add to MyCurriculm I’m just starting this year and studying economics and finance and was intrigued what the best options are
I did Mandarin, Business Management, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology and Philosophy throughout my first 2 years. I LOVED anthro/socio/psychology and the rest were all okay!
Hello, I have a question, the teachers are from Scotland or they are from other countries? Thank you for your video, I am considering going to that university for an academic exchange, but I am from Mexico and my English is not perfect so I am afraid of not understanding the accent. Thanks!
Is the cold here bad? Like, super dry? As in peeling skin, chapped lips, dandruff, chill in the bones kinda bad? Would love to choose this one but that's the only thing stopping me. Have an unconditional from Surrey and Aberdeen- so confused!
Noooo I wouldn't say so. Aberdeen gets quite a bad reputation, weather-wise but I never found it too challenging at all! It's a few degrees colder than what I was used to in Glasgow but it rained far less and even when it was cold, there was normally a bit of sun peeking through the clouds. Aberdeen is also close to the Cairngorm mountains so when it is cold enough for snow, at least you have the possibility of going skiing and making an event of it haha!
@@HollieMcRae thanks for letting me know Hollie- that surely helped. Had a Scottish friend here in New Delhi(originally from Glasgow), he completed his masters from the University of Aberdeen back in 2016-he really scared the lights outta me- no sunlight after 3 pm in winters, no place to let loose, expensive rents, perpetual rain and all that stuff. To imagine this was the same guy who encouraged me to apply to the University in the first place😂. Love the Scottish sense of humour man! Also, are there many things to do as a student?- i hope there are enough cinemas, theatres, clubs, sports parks and all of that in Aberdeen to keep one busy, otherwise with someone like me who has the attention span of a 3 month old child, it will be difficult to while away time😂 Maybe a little exaggeration, but you know what I mean, right? If it's even 50 percent of Glasgow I am in!
