Thanks, Kay. You did such a beautiful job explaining the process. Now I have to try this. I see you made this video before we met a year ago. I'm watching it April 6, 2023. I am working on 3 pairs of socks now. One of those is my first '2-at-a-Time". I know now in the back of my mind I will be trying to decide which yarn to use. At least now I have a small stash and options.
Thanks again, Kay. Happy knitting!
I love doing socks because of you. Great teacher.
Kaye... you are a natural teacher. I learned a lot here on this tutorial. Love how you empathize steps and then show the steps. The pace of your teaching is as well a pace I can stay with. I have been to other sites and I need to return and to return to a time stamp for repeats. Your pace is spot on. I hav not ever heard about sock camp until I started following you on Vlogmas ‘20, now I plan to check it out. Thank you.
Thank you for this tutorial! Clear visuals and instructions! Super!
Another great tutorial...you are amazing. Love doing socks because of you...you are an inspiration!
I feel the “no other sock needles free” with ya! 🤣
Thank you for sharing this wonderful information. I have some yarn my daughter shared with me. After I finish some gift knitting will definitely feel more confident after watching this.
I am SO HAPPY about this video! I can't wait to watch it! So many socks to knit, so little time!
Thanks Kay!!!
Keep meaning to do some stripey socks from my stash,,,,!
Will be fun to mix and match yarns,,,
Elaine🏡🏡🏡🏡
This is so awesome! I can't wait to try striping my own instead of just using self striping. Thank you for showing us how you do it!
As my Grandma used to say.... "blind man going by on horseback would be proud to see that" They're awesome!!
Hi Kay on your sock do you the cuff on short socks, Tennis shoes Hightower tennis shoes and shoes the same. 20 rows? Inches. Thanks
Very useful, thanks for sharing! I really like how you explained not having to cut the yarn after the heel flap - very clever.
This is making me so excited for Summer Sock Camp !
Ya so excited that you complete this video. I have purchased the yarn and will be doing them together with my niece. 😊
Great video thank you
Thanks Kay again another Great tutorial!! :)
Thank you for this tutorial. It is so very helpful and you are so talented! 👍
😊❤️ Thanks Kay. I’ve been wanting to make some striped socks and this was very helpful. My socks NEVER look as neat as yours. I’m getting a yarn winder and swift from Amazon in the next couple of days so I will be ready to wind, cast on and knit. I will try to make my stitches more Kaylike. ☺️
Thank you Kay, this was so informative. I have hesitated to make striped socks, but this has made it very clear, and I love using my 9-inch circulars.
Fun look and love that yarn!!
Beautiful you make it look so easy 🥰
I can’t wait to start my next pair of socks. Thank you!!! Great tutorial.
Thank you for a great tutorial. Can't wait to try this out
Great tutorial, thank you! For summer camp I’ll try it!
Great tutorial Kay. Thank you
Thank you for explaining this. It looks very easy the part I will struggle with is keeping track of the decreases and at the same time keeping track that I do rows of two for the colors. You really do a great job teaching this. Maybe you could teach other knitting techniques, but that would require you to do other items other than just socks.
Thank you so much! I have been waiting for this tutorial to make my mothers "Mother's Day" Socks! :) I'll let you know how they work up!
Thank you Kay that was very useful. 🧶🧦
Hi Kay, Thanks for the tutorial. Will be fun to try when I'm ready to do striped socks.
Thanks Kay! Just what I needed to use 2 Regia silk balls of yarn (1 white, 1 grey).
Another great video - thanks!
And your nails - vavavoom!
Wonderful tutorial ❤ thanks so muc!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I have some left over sock yarn and was wondering how to make more socks from it. I really like the way you do the striping.
Great tutorial! Certainly useful for those that will be participating at the summer sock camp 2021!
One suggestion: I noticed that you almost picked up your tail when you switched colors once. You can always tuck the tail inside your cuff/leg opening from the beginning! I’ve picked up my tail one too many time so now I do that as soon as I’m dropping my tail.
Yep, that's what I typically do. :)
Great tutorial! Thank you!
Love this
Thank you. I hope I’m brave enough to try this!
I was especially interested in understanding how you did the heel flap. The tutorial was very clear. Thank you!
I could do the stripes but couldn't work out how to do the heel flap with out cutting the yarn! Nice clear non fluffy instructions thank you.
Great tutorial ! Looking forward to trying socks on 9" circulars.
Thanks for this! I’m making a 3-color spiral sock and couldn’t figure out why I was getting this weird “crease” where the color changes are. Now I can reek it them correctly!
Thanks so much for sharing 💗🧦🌼🐑🐰
I love this video I think my next socks will be striped
Thank you!
Thank you for the video
How do you prevent the yarns from tangling? In the past I've tucked the yarn not being currently used in and through the sock to get it out of the way, but that only works with smaller balls of yarn (e.g. scraps).
I keep the cakes in a project bag and turn the bag every time I change colors for a new stripe. Keeps them from wrapping around each other.
You knit great socks
Hello perfect video.🌼
Kay can you please do a brief video on how you hold your yarn Continental style? Thank you
You're amazing! Subscribing!
Oh wow! Kay thank you for teaching us all how to do this! Excellent tutorial answering all the questions. I’m really excited to try this out. Also curious is helical method an option or does the heel make that too odd?
I’ve actually never tried that method with socks, I know some have. Knitty Natty may have a tutorial for it if I’m not mistaken.
If you are using 2 circulars would you start switching colors as you move between needles?
Pretty yarn! I was thinking about the slipstraviganza you were knitting in December Would we be able to see it? Just curious Thank you♡
Have you tried helical knitting to stripe the 2 colors?
Could you please explain/show where the “dropped” yarn is placed (in front of or behind the new color) ...does that even make sense?
Do you ever do striped socks two at a time, and if so, how do you keep your yarns from tangling/twisting?? This is driving me crazy right now and I feel like there should be a simple solution but so far haven't figured it out...
Nope I’ve never done these two at a time. I do have a video for regular two at a time socks where I show how I manage my yarn for that.
Does anyone know how much yarn I'd need (yards or grams) for the cuff, heel and toe if I used an entirely different sock yarn??
HI Kay! Question - can you do this techique with magic loop? I am attempting to do it right now but not sure if it's going to work.
You sure can!! Everything would be the same, just be careful when going to the next color like she says!
Yep, sure can!!
😊 👧 💖 💖
For the gusset when do you do the decreases? On which round and which color?
For more of a “how to knit socks” tutorial please check out my Vanilla Socks videos. ❤️This is just for how to change colors like this.
Hi Kay, do you have a video that shows a knit front back in the way you stitch? I have been watching a video where it shows a knit front back but the yarn is in her right hand and I am having a heck of a time figuring out how to grab the yarn and keep it on my needle from the left hand. Am I making sense?
I'm sorry I don't think I have a video for that. But you can just knit into the front of the stitch as normal and then pull the needle around and knit into the back stitch and then pull the stitch off the left needle.
Can someone tell me what people knit with 8” circular needles? I bought some thinking that was what I needed for socks but apparently I should have bought 9” circulars.
You can use 8” for socks.
Am I able to get that exact colorway? Don’t see it in her shop 😳
She is sold out of them. You would want to contact her shop to see if she will be having it for sale again. ❤️
I'm a very loose knitter what size needle do I use for socks
