I'm getting a PC next year, what do you recommend? 🏴☠
I never own a Xbox console in my life until recently earlier this month. I basically bought the console because of the store closing. Since I’ve got it, I have been playing it almost everyday, and bought so many games physically and digitally.
Wished I could’ve have experienced it during it’s peak, as I had a Wii and a ps3 back then. The 360 is still an enjoyable experience to this day.
I had them all and the 360 was king. Shame I had 2 RRODs, still my 4th (sold the replacement MS shipped me for the second, bought a Jasper model) still works today. The PS3 really wasn't really worth having except for blu-ray playback until about 2009, as such the standard of online players on PS3 was dreadful, you could go from a multiplat game on 360 where you were mediocre and rule the PS3 lobbies like a god. Try Dead Rising, now the remake is coming the OG version has been pulled from Steam, and it's still the best game in the franchise to this day. If you like racers try try PG3, 4 and the Forza games. Oh and Gears of War 2 & 3 are only on 360 (and 1 runs better than the updated PC version/Xbone version). Get the Japanese RPGs fast, they're going to skyrocket in price.
I had a PS3. Until a firmware update made the ps3 freeze. Thus forcing me to turn it off via the power button at the back of the console. This cooked tbe blu ray laser and they wanted £99 to repair it. I put that money into a 360 elite and never regretted it. I still have the same xbox with the original controllers and it works absolutely fine.
COD was basically a bunch of little kids screaming and swearing every other word with the N word dropped every 10 seconds. Do NOT miss that.
..where you buy digital games if the Store closed ? ..Me too wanted to start before because I lost some really interesting delisted games (Contrast, LegendOfKorra, DarkestDays, ZombieApocalypse,..)

@@darthwiiziuspretty much the same. I'm am still collecting 360 games as the games are still cheap, compared to many of the retro games on older consoles.
You can still get ghost n goblins. I have it, and gouls n ghosts. Its part of the capcom arcade packs, I think I got them on sale for about 89 pence each. But super gouls and ghost and a few other variants are definitely lost to time, unless you're emulating of course.
What did you make of the recent remake of ghosts n goblins? I wasn't feeling it as much, maybe cause of the art style. It just felt like something was lacking when I was playing it.
@@vitallink4830
I've got Super Ghouls and Ghosts on a GBA cart and Ghosts and Goblins (64P) on Steam, I can't play it on my wired 360 pad, the one bad thing about 360 pads is the D-pad, it's nigh on impossible to control Arthur with it.
I have a Series X but I did pay for Dev Mode and have been enjoying the hell out of emulation including Xenia
Emulation and backwards compatibility really is the biggest advantage Xbox had over PlayStation...

I can still download the games I bought, tho. No problem with “ownership” so far…
The problem is not being able to buy them again or play them on newer hardware.
You are right. Thankfully that is the case. But Game preservation is dead though and thats a HUGE problem. There are plenty of games I hear about I wish I could play today and all I got is basically “gray area” options to experience the games. I will never know what was so good about the x-men legends games. Even if you buy remasters/remakes they seem to rarely hit the quality of the originals. GTA Definitive Trilogy for example. I personally don’t condone emulation or piracy ONLY if it’s giving you access to to games you know for the fact of life you NEVER bought once. Its one think to use it to get access to something you know you bought before and the company took it from you, but that’s the problem I have with that option. You will get access again to past games, sure! But you’ll also get access to games you never properly bought which at that point, I consider it stealing. But then again, so is corporate taking your games away even AFTER you paid for them….so where’s the middle ground? There isn’t one. You either let it happen or move on or literally steal back from the company. 🤷♂️. The biggest problem essentially is corporate doesn’t preserve games. They don’t think they are important enough to do it. We should be pushing for companies to start game preservation, not leaving us with literally the only option which is “gray area” options
@@teamofone1219Dude, a small percentage of people even play old games lmao....and they are the loudest.

What’s going to happen to Alex’s Xbox Fund now?
Alex on my Xbox series S I still got my Xbox 360 games on there cause I bought them digitally so they didn’t take it away. I play those games right now. If you didn’t biome that’s on you you had all that time. It sounds like a you probably they told you when advance.
Is it also not possible anymore to buy 360 games on the Xbox One/Series S|X stores?
You can still buy those ones and if it's delisted you can still use a disc.
Still available to Purchase on the current gen consoles.
As long as they are backwards compatible on new gen they'll still be on the s/x store
It is possible to purchase those game that are backwards compatible with those consoles
No, you can still do that. The point is to force 360 players to buy the new consoles.
In fairness to Microsoft they did do a good job of getting the majority of important titles over to their newer hardware. Not much that was really notable was left behind. You can still get a 360 and buy a non backwards compatible game and play it on there, including updates. Microsoft have done way more for backwards compatibility than Sony ever did.
Xenia will save 360 games on PC that's why Emulators are great keeping older games alive and allowing us a place to still play them
Game preservation is important.
Emulate is the key for such preservation.

Hell even more obscure original Xbox games aren't even on back compat yet. Brute Force is one of the games that was published by Microsoft and shouldn't have licensing issues in the same way something like JSRF has.

Everything is coming to an end and nothing will last forever. But it is sad to see the Xbox store to be closed forever. Even tho I was with Playstation at the time.
I do feel sad for the people who were on the Xbox 360. I do miss the 2000's a lot. Wish we could relive them again.
I just turned 25 and I feel so old I’m dreading my thirties
@denisn8336 You have 5 more years before you turn 30. I was 25 in 2018 and I didn't feel the way you're feeling. I didn't feel old not until I was 29 and knew this was my last year in being in my 20's before I pushed to 30.
Try to enjoy being in your 20's still. Make the best of it and by the time you reach 30. You will look back at the good times you had in your 20's.

I’m all aboard the emulation train since buying the steam deck I haven’t emulated yet but that’ll be changing soon the 120-+ games I’ve got since the steam summer sale has kept me busy

Salute. That's a digital treasure you have right there my friend!
I got street fighter 3 online edition, and that tent out of the shadows trial. I'm never deleting it
I honestly couple months ago purchased a secondhand Xbox 360 along with two harmonics guitars for guitar hero and went to a retro store and picked up all guitar hero games and rock back games and have been playing them for months ever since its the most fun I’ve had in years recently besides Elden ring
Ol’ horse armor, oblivion started a downward spiral, then picked up by team fortress 2 5 years later and the industry never looked back 😢
Just in case MS did tried to move most of the On Demand titles to the OneStore (thats the backend name to the current MS Store on the console/windows) so despite we can play them due to the backwards compatibility program (that yes MS should bring that program back again) I just reviewed a few games that I personally wanted to buy before the closure and they are still there.
But yeah I know this is not exactly what Alex was trying to say on this video.
My worry is that 'one day' steam closes its doors and the 20 years worth of backlog goes down the drain.
I just bought the last Xbox 360 games I'll ever buy from that storefront:
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine
I hadn't learned of the game's existence until Space Marine 2 was announced a few years ago. I have never played it before, so I plan on playing this before Space Marine 2 drops later on this year.
It was a hell of a ride, but I got ever game I wanted from the Xbox 360 storefront, so... I have no personal complaints. But I do have one critique, though...
This storefront should have been integrated into the new one from the beginning. The storefront should have been universal. This never should have needed to happen.
Xbox wants to rent those games to us on GP. They want to funnel players into choosing that option. All those 360 games fit in a single SSD and cost MS almost no money to keep around.
@@bosskey23
I honestly don't care what Xbox "wants" to do. Their desires are not my concern. I buy what I want and, if I desire to do so, rent what I want.
How I approach gaming is 100% based on me, and what I deem is beneficial to myself. A company's desire is irrelevant to me.
PC games from 40 years ago...still work on the PC.
Xbox having backwards compatibility and emulation is really one of the reasons people chose Xbox over PlayStation...
The simplest solution is to offer everything on physical discs, through a webshop were you make a special order. Then discs will be made on a MS site, cover inlays will be printed as well and they will ship your special order to you.
Personally I like how the dashboard are now. It is cleaned up now the storefront is gone. There will never be any add's anymore. It now feel's like back in the days of 6'th console generation and earlier. It almost feel as if Sega never stopped making consoles and came up with a Dreamcast-3. I like the "new" Xbox360.
The only thing I'm excited about the 360 store closing is that now we have a LOT more excuses to jailbreak the hardware and emulate the library!
i still play my 360 slim...just got venetica, velvet assassin and a bunch of cool old xbla titles i missed back then
Y’all knew this was coming for over a year and they do backwards compatibility and now y’all crying?
I HAD almost 200 physical games. Did a rgh a couple years ago, copied the games over, sold the collection last winter, did a backup. I have two xbox waiting to be modded.
The entire library is available on the web if you are unable to find some title.
Edit: yes, the latest dash is depressive. NXE was cool. Metro or whatever dont allow game cover while offline, and since the server are down, you are left with gray lifeless square. Not an issue if you run aurora.
Most people will just consume, but I'm getting my games physically and playing them on an emulation PC. I was thinking about getting the consoles associated with the games but for the same price I can just make a 4th PC that will be dedicated to emulation and gaming on the TV. Plus I haven't built a PC in a while so that should be fun.
Emulation is the way to go. If you buy a 360 now. There’s a chance that it can break. Better to play all the old games with better performance on pc.
The 3DS/WiiU store shut down was more (but not limited) because of security. I saw the online for those systems was compromised, and player's info could be stolen, like camera access, and, to fix it, each game needs to release an individual update patch (that's why Mario Kart 7 received an update patch after more than 10 years), and to apply new security levels on 3DS/WiiU in the same level of the Switch, or it was not viable because of hardware limitation, or because it not worth it.
Microsoft left the Xbox 360's store without proper updates and maintenance from a long time, and maybe it was not cost worth anymore. So, closing the store was the most obvious solution for them. But deny access of exclusive content for that system is dummy, and MS have the ways to do it, and it was not need a genius to think about it.
It just the case of:
1) Create a new section just for the Xbox 360 contents on the browser version of the current Xbox Store;
2) Move all the content from the old Marketplace to the new space on the official Xbox Store;
3) Shut down the old Marketplace on both web and console;
4) Now, if you need new Xbox 360 exclusive content to your accout, access the dedicated section on the Xbox Store, make the purchase, go back to your Xbox 360, access your download history and download your newly purchased content.
Not a genius to think about this solution...
An end of an era, eventually servers for Xbox 360 & PS3 will go offline and that will be a sad time but for those who are willing to cough up extra dough, get a decent PC & you can play majority of these games on PC. Emulation is getting better everyday, so much so that we’re getting close to a Bloodborne Emulator.
That's what I've been spending on for the past few years is HDD storage 3.5mm drives to save & download the xbox 360 games, PS3, PS2, and PS1 games, as well as other games to download and save just so I can play them (along with keeping the zip files from the original) loooooooong after the websites, emulators, and stores have shut down or removed from the internet or companies forever.
@@SuperFlashDriver yep, get yourself a HDD that basically covers all PS2/Xbox & previous gens like PS1, Nintendo, Arcade, etc & another HDD for PS3/360 games. Eventually the internet will crack down on these matters & the games will be gone forever. My own PC has a 20TB HDD for my PS3/360 games & a 8TB for anything older.
@@PlayingUnfairly Oh definitely. I've already bought multitude of 10TB HDDs, got a 20TB HDD this year, and I've download pretty much every game from the past 5 generations of console gaming that I've wanted to play on long after the games are gone from the internet. Thankfully there are some sites I found using alternative search engines that I've bookmarked that not many know about, but I shall not say.
And now that the marketplace has shut down, I'll be able to softmod my xbox 360 console and be able to get Aurora mod menu into my actual console up until it dies. Thankfully we haven't played many of these consoles as we feel it's best to only power them when we would "actually" play them. To this day sometimes I'll pop open a Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360, or other consoles we have lying around just to show what we have in our house, or play games we physically/digitally own.
I don’t think Microsoft will shut down Xbox 360 servers because backwards compatible games rely on them (don’t quote me on that)
@@galacticwinner2799 something similar was said for OG xbox but it happened, even for PS3, people said it wouldn’t but it was for a brief period of time but that was only a temporary solution, Sony will go back on shutting down PS3 servers & it’s not exactly a shocker with how xbox has been going for the past decade that they’ll do it.
As somone who grew up whit 360 since 2015 its totaly weird to see new 360's home page.
..I'm glad having secured me some of xbox360 best digital games in time: StateOfDecay, Deadlight, LifesStrange, Masquerade, Skidive, Slender, ShadowComplex, CastleStorm(fun as hell!), Castlevania, BookOfTales, Renegade, ArkhamGates, JoyRide, JoeDanger, SineMora, Ikaruga..
Fully digital is a big problem for me, I use Xbox for not only disk games but for movie disks as well. I still want to use them as time goes by.
I've had my 360 set up even once I moved to the One and Series x. The system has always been an amazing one because of the generation it came from. And with some games not even back compatible like rock band, guitar hero etc it's the only way to play those on a console still. Damn shame it's shut down. Even with the store gone I don't think my 360 is ever gonna unplugged since it's still fun playing on the original hardware even if I can get fps boost for most back compatible games now
Xenia doesn't emulate ninetynine nights well, sadly. N3-2 is emulated really well instead, but I care more for the first one

If you really care about preserving games, pirating old-gen titles is really the only logical option.
Lets just say iv been sailing the 7 seas since the OG xbox. Nothing beats having a sleeve with every game you could ever think of.
Oh no. Anyways.......
The Xbox360 "solidified" online gaming with the party chats, buying digital games without a computer, etc. The stores may be gone, but you can still play online. So, lets hope for a few more years of that.
I'll miss the xbox 360 era. Yeah microsoft had issues in the past but I really enjoyn the quality of the xbox 360. I played street fighting games, crash bandicoot, twd season 2, and others on the xbox 360. Good old memories.
I bought a few games mostly because of their backwards compatability efforts. They've done the most work bringing older games forwards with you.
It's sad 😭 to see 🙈 this era of gaming closed out. I just recently purchased a bunch of arcade games from the Xbox live servers from the 360. I am proud 😊 to be around for this gaming generation that was the Xbox 360 so many memories with this console. Still looks brand new from the day I have purchased it. Xbox 360 slim with the wifi of course almost 20 years of Xbox 360. One of the best consoles ever definitely the top 5 on the list of all time. 👍
I tried to buy an xbox live subscription on xbox 360 and I struggled to get it. Does the shutting down of the xbox 360 marketplace mean you can no longer buy xbox live on the xbox 360?
Honestly even if the next gen xbox doesn't have a disc drive despite being a pc//xbox hybrid kind of deal; they'd still sell the disc drive as long as old physical discs still are playable. The problem is whether it'd be like the disc drive PS5 slim or not. Now digital ownership and game preservation is still a huge problem that needs to be solved. I feel like DMCA requests against products like game should be amended to still selling said product being pre-req to file the DMCA WITH burden of proof for proving they still sell it being on the entity issuing the DMCA. This would at least force companies to still sell the product if they wanna be able to legally fight against counterfeits which would be emulated games or those acquired through the seven seas. Basically this would mean that the company would actually have financial harm to file the DMCA. Either that or fix digital ownership to make it mean just that; you get permanent access to your copy of the thing as if you physically owned it.
Emulation is more important than ever. If the big AAA companies can't preserve old games then it's next to impossible to buy it for a good price.
I'm very into preservation shit lately. Before that I never thought about it much. So now when I buy some exclusive for ps5 I always buy on disc lately and if it's a pc game I buy it on steam, most of my games I buy on PC. If I like it a lot or it's a classic that I loved I just pirate the game I bought on steam if it's not available on gog and save on my separate hdd. 😌 Piracy is the best thing for preservation cus these corporations don't give a shit
I feel this, even though they've made it a big thing to have digital games since you can 'gameshare' over two xboxes in the house and play with your kid or whatever. Now look at Redbox and all the movies people lost, all that money paid, gone.
I remember how Phil Spencer kinda "shit" over Sony about preservation and praising the Xbox side about it when the PS3/PSP/Vita stores was announced to shut down to, just some time after that, it was announced some Xbox 360 games would be removed from the Marketplace in 2023 (I don't know why these specific games, but, from the list, it included all of the backward compatible games who wasn't available on the current store, needing to buy them using the old store), and, quickly after that, the announcement of the Marketplace's shut down. 🙄
The question now is: How much time will take to the PS3/Vita store to shut down as well, and to turn off its online service? 😮💨
Yeah the backlash only delayed the PS3 and Vita stores it's already clear that Sony wants to close them the question now has become how long until they try again and when they do it's unlikely they will listen to the community again

I still play my 360. My problem with emulation is you need a powerfull PC- those are expensive.
I'd still would buy 360 games if they were digital just to play them. I would love to see PS and Microsoft as well as even Nintendo make their stores allow you to buy older games that were on their previous consoles. There's still a market for it but I hate saying this, it hurts saying it, but I don't see them adding more games background compatible. It sucks because I just purchased the following to be able to play on my Xbox One and 360: SSX, TimeShift, Aliens VS Predator, Burnout Revenge, Star Wars KOTOR 1 and 2, Jedi Starfighter, Clone Wars, and many more. Sad day indeed.
I believe you can still buy 360 games from the Xbox one and Series store. I was under the impression that they closed the store on the 360.
Rest in peace to the Xbox 360 store is now closed. Glad i bought some call of duty games from the Xbox 360 era and it's keep me posted
The only one that was lost was Call of Duty Classic which for some weird reason never was made backwards compatible the rest are still available on Xbox One and X|S so as long as you got Call of Duty Classic you're good to go as far as Call of Duty games go
So what company is doing digital ownership the right way?
I set sail to the 7 seas years ago, got myself a modded 360 and did the same with all my consoles. Each has either a modchip, an HDD full of games or both. It's sad that more than half the 360 library iirc is not backwards compatible. And it's even worse for the OG Xbox.
Yeah but most of that’s due to licensing issues
I was 20 when the original xbox 360 came out. What Windows 11 is doing is worrying.
And when they release remasters of old games, they are censoring them.
I'm glad I'm a nintendo fan
20 years? Damn that a long time
Like you said Alex, if you can’t buy something then technically it’s not pirating or stealing !
Alex you can buy old 360 disc's and when you put them in the 360 they still get updates and can still play online as well as purchased games
So anybody else who was oblivious to this shut down until just now?
JTAG/RGH Xbox 360 is also an option... the entire store is out there for grabs.. just have to look. JTAG/RGH consoles might become sought after too.. so grab them while their cheap.
Yeah .... Two more years to 30.... So sad.
Yeah, remember the times you couldn't get most games after 4-12 Months because your local Store couldn't get it anymore?
Or you got used games with weak batteries or scratched discs?
Or you had to buy a new Console every 12-24 Months because your Disc Drive gave up?
Or had to buy every game again if it re-released (which was very rare)?
The digital Store closing isn't good but let's be honest - the generations before been far worse.
Microsoft did said they bringing backward compact back

Do you believe that?
i am so glad still can redownload
In a way, the 360 just took a step away from the all digital future. Now if you want to buy 360 games you'll have to find a physical copy, provided they aren't supported on newer consoles.
I wish they gave us just one more week. They old yellered the 360 and broke my heart with closing the marketplace. They have the money to keep it open.
Himbo has great points!! I also think that Xbox back compat is better than most.
I'm fully digital and still playing my 360 digital games. I have no room in my apartment for physical since I'm married. I have a digital library. I'm good bring on the future.
It's obvious they're going to put them on Gamepass and also make them purchasable when they make their cloud streaming and future consoles backward compatible. It's a genius, but obvious play to have everything in one platform until the console is no longer needed
Things like this are why I never buy digital on console.
This really sucks, I know we knew this was coming, but could you imagine if Steam just decided to close the store. Digital licences need to be looked through at a government level and companies shouldn't be able to pull games because a new version/sequel is out.
Who runs the government? They don’t want you to have rights. They want you to consume.
The one reason Steam doesn't pull the shenanigans of the PlayStation and Xbox stores is because Pirate King Gabe D. Newell respects them as competition enough to compete with them with a better service for a reasonable fee instead of trying to strangle every drop of blood from his customers and wondering why they're all running screaming away from their closed system consoles to the PC Master Race pirate ships.
if a store front on a console is closed games can no longer be stolen/pirated because they are no longer sold so in fact they are abondonware its like a sales man sells apples then stops and you go and pick apples from a random tree that no one owns is that stealing from the sales man?
I hope they make all the Xbox games backwards compatibility for the next console or handheld so ppl can experience the good days with the Xbox 360 still one of my favorite Xbox consoles 💯☝️ or release the games on pc aka steam
I legit just found a way to get back onto the store.
Now that both the wii and 360 are dead that begs the question, when will the ps3 be shutdown? sony had considerd shutting it down once but they backtracked that statement due to large amount of backlash
If you go on the PC you can still buy 360 games on your series x or the PC store
It depends on the company that prints the game play for an example Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater has a lot of disc rot
I feel personally attacked when Alexx said my exact age and how I'm almost 30 lmao. Rip Xbox 360, died at 18 years old. I'm a pc guy, you already know what I would do Alexx lol
Backwards compatibility is going to changè. But, having 2 360s, im sorted to play that arent. Good video as usual. Game prices are going to rocket.
Just get a modded 360
I know I know for emulating 360 games I really should get a PC to that's capable of doing it but to be honest I wish a phone would come out in the next year or two that would be powerful enough that it can emulate the so that it could run at least 60 frames per second which will look phenomenal on a mobile device especially 3 minutes to a TV and using a controller and the whole nine yards it'd be amazing to do
Sarah bond said they’re working on continuing the backwards compatibility program
