Alex, have you ever had problems with your Steam Deck being unable to reach Steam servers despite being connected to wifi? It happens to mine occasionally. Rebooting fixes it, but it's annoying when it keeps happening. Do you know a way to stop it?

All the Sony fans I seen were calling pc gamers cry babies.. once again the issue was that Sonys own website stated, A PSN ACCOUNT IS NOT REQUIRED TO PLAY THIS GAME. Regardless of it was there at launch on steam it was still on sonys website. It also functioned fine without it. And finally it locked many players out of a game they paid for in countries they shouldn't of sold it in if this requirement of PSN was needed. If we all didn't complain you think Sony would of gave a shit that 9 people on Kazakhstan couldn't play the game anymore ? Ofc they wouldn't of.

He didn't personally work it into the Netcode, nor did he remove it, he gave others that task and either of the two prior scenarios, must have happened to some degree.
He isn't solely to blame, but he also isn't exempt from criticism when things turned out as bad as they did.

@@chriswihulu From what i know, AH CEO did admit they failed to communicate properly, but also explained that they told Sony that reactivating the mandatory PSN now would be a bad idea, Sony didn't care and forced them to activate it anyway and look where we ended up

Its important to recognize that Sony does not have full control over this. This is going to depend on steam in collaboration with Sony, likely assurances that this wont be a problem later. Sony and Arrowhead arent the only ones who would lose money from refunds, steam loses its listing fee.
@@tlpineapple1 Sony was the one that put up the ban, they can easily take it back. How do I know? A gamedev and publisher literally said so because they publish in steam so the only one stalling is Sony, not steam.

You should recognize that some of these regions fall into legal areas where steam could also be found liable if a lawsuit was started due to local consumer rights laws.
Also, delisting a game from sale doesnt prevent people who've already purchased in from accessing the game. During the Epic exclusivity issue, i owned games on steam that were delisted when they became exlcusive. I could still access and play the singleplayer, but steam multiplayer functionality was removed.
I also never said steam is stalling, and im not blaming steam. But if a game dev did this to my distribution company, even if in most cases changing the region lock is easy, i wouldnt let them just open it back up for sale without assurances.

Sony was hoping that after millions of players already played more than the refund policy that the players will bend their needs to inflate Sony’s numbers. Whereas with Xbox, EA, Square, it’s up front and you can just not buy it or get a refund instantly.

Funnily enough, it's a W for the PS community as well since it's good for the player base as a whole if there are more active players. You'd think that every fan of a game would above all want faster matchmaking times and have the game to survive longer.
I use Windows 11. But I still managed to make an offline account.
Windows works completely fine without any log-ins.
This is why I don't buy games from Ubisoft, EA, and the Epic Game store. I don't want 10 different launcher with 10 different accounts. I want 1 Platform, where i can Sign in, and that's it.
Do I need to make multiple accounts on the Xbox, Playstation and Nintendo Switch? No!?

Was a little annoyed I had to create a Bethesda account to play fallout 76 on xcloud. My ms account is from
1999 and ms owns Bethesda. And there’s no crossplay or cross save.

Very relatable and based comment overall. We don't need extra nonsensical accounts to have access to games we actually spent our money on. We as consumers should be able to access things whenever and wherever we want and stupid corporate practices like this are the reason why gamers pirate their games or buy things elsewhere. You should only have reasonable amount of accounts when it comes to accessing things especially when it comes to steam. One steam account for all your games is what's necessary. That's real and fair consumer practice.
It's funny how this Helldivers stuff killed all excitement for any future PS game on PC for me. While I'll play Helldivers again, I won't be purchasing any Super Credits at all. I'll just be happy with the super creds they give in the game. Because Sony has shown they're willing to screw us over for stats, not even money.
And yeah, we bullied the company, but Sony wouldn't have cared until Arrowhead threatened to sue for breach of contract, and Valve threatened Sony with a big bill for all the refunds. Plus all the pending lawsuits from countries where the game was now fully blocked 3 months after, and it was a nightmare for Sony.
I hope this shows that Sony is not to be trusted as a publishing partner. And that Arrowhead can pull a Hello Games and separate themselves from Sony.

Yes, I know its free to make a PSN account. The issue isn't the fucking price. The issue is 2 folds:
1 - If it's not required for me to use the platform, I shouldn't have to make it.
2 - PSN isn't available worldwide. It's only in countries Sony "allows" you to, and those saying "Use a VPN", that is against Sony TOS, something you guys cling to like it's a religion apparently, so that just means that Sony would still be able to block people from playing a game they bought.
Well, it kinda is because of money. Its obvious that they wanted to push theyr active user number for PSN, in order to present some sort of growth to the investors (we are close to the end of Q1 of the fiscal year), in order to get more funds for current and future game development. People have to realize that those companies dont make profit through sales, they cover the dividends with sales and make the profit before the game releases with investor funds. Thats also the reason why that whole ESG bullshit exists

Also, the MS account for MC is optional, and Ubisoft gets shit regularly for that. But the issue here is, that 130+ countries were straight up LOCKED AWAY from playing the game. Dont you get that into your thick skull?

39 is a very low number. Actually around 130+. In some countries like Ukraine (the friggin war torn country) & India you need a PS4 or PS5 to verify the PSN account. You cant even use a VPN to change your country, since its against Sony ToS, and a lot of chinese players got banned for that. Not to forget the massive data breaches that PSN had in the past years.
That's why I love Far Cry 2 and hate Far Cry 3.

I have a pc, Switch, and ps5, and I enjoy the novelty of choosing where I wish to play my games. So I don't understand the need to force one type of player to create an account on one device for another device. When I get a game for the PC, I don't expect to conform to another device.
PSN mandate is the first step for a PS+ mandate. Soon you will see future PS titles ported to PC with a note saying "Technically, playing online multiplayer is a PS Plus feature so we're gonna need you to pay for PS+ on Steam".

Hot take, I don't think Sony caved to the gamers but Sony caved to Steam. I think Steam saw the writing on the wall and started doing things to protect its self from litigation in all the countries that didnt have PSN. And because Steam started to protect its self Sony got sacred.

When I saw the FF14 as an example of forced login, I had to cringe because like any other launcher, they were transparent about their service requirement from the getgo unlike Helldivers. More over, terms of service was changed recently and people are unable to play anymore in FF14. Which is the exact problem stemming from Helldivers. And the fans of FF14 is up in arms over it.

I was listening to this video at work. My PCMR buddy at work heard me laughing hysterically from halfway across the noisy shop and asked me why was I laughing so hard? I sent him the video and heard him laughing just as hard. Called me terrible things for not introducing me to your channel sooner.

Sony was basically giving the middle finger to every country that had gamers that was playing Helldivers2 that wasn’t eligible for PlayStation network.
I think the straw that broke Sony's back was the realization that theyd need to do refunds and have the game delisted in nearly 150 countries. This would cause a massive snafu and i wouldnt be surprised if this entire thing made them get a call from the EU.

This was a good thing console players could rally behind as well and shows that we can all have a voice to impact change and stand up to unreasonable demands by these companies. Edit: on a more serious note, in playing HD2 since Feb I've met up with and played with many great PS players, a number of which I now talk to outside the game through Discord... and they were leaving negative reviews on their PSN account in regards to this fiasco. There ARE good PS players out there. I will never shame someone for buying a PS or getting PSN if that's what you can afford or all you want, etc. Choices matter. But I just LOVE the fact that not all PS players are suckling on the peen of Sony and are willing to stand up and say: "Dude? That's whack. Grow up!" alongside us PC Gamers.

Many of these vocal console players don't know how PC works. They don't even understand the system, its not surprising that they don't understand the people who use it and refuse to use a console. Their voices got drown out so completely that there hasn't been a single comment from the CEO or Sony that they are sorry for the console players who supported the PSN mandate.
I love the Windows account example especially, since I can literally take a different operating system on a PC like Linux and play Helldiver II on it.

I believe I'm speaking for the entire PC player base here: NOBODY wants an extra account or launcher for steam games. If EA, Ubisoft, Rockstar, and all others blocked the game people payed for 3 months ago behind a service that is routinely hacked, I believe it would end the same as with Sony now.

And literally every single person I know is wanting to play the multiplayer mode in this game. I will not be buying ghost of tsushima until Sony removes the requirement for PlayStation account on All Games moving forward. If I can't play the multiplayer mode online without a PlayStation account that I just will not buy this game
Just discovered your content. I really got a kick out of it. I was laughing my ass off. Whats funny to me is im a console gamer, but ive know for years that PC is the superior way to game. And i would gladly switch, but not all of us cN afford a nice gaming PC rig. I mostly game on consoles because it's cheaper to buy a $500 console vs. $3000 gaming rig. As for buying games cheaper, of course ive seen some wicked good sales on Steam, but ive also found some good deals on the Xbox Store and Nintendo s Store. Any how. Just my two cents on the matter.

I agree completely. I can't stand mandatory logins from companies I don't respect. When I play games, what matters to me is *where* I earn my Achievements. Anyone who likes pursuing achievements knows how important it can be to have one platform that tracks all your achievements for all your owned games. That's what people like about both Steam and Consoles. I would log into any corporation's account if I could get my achievements on my platform of choice; which is not Steam, since achievements can be so easily hacked, modded and cheated for. What is the use of an achievement if it could have been a lie?
