    Very cool video Vesper, such a beautiful Guitar. Can't stress that enough, that Guitar is simply gorgeous. What a full and full sound! I'm sorta similar in that I don't own many Guitars, I have one Acoustic, one Electric and one Bass. I'd feel like I'm cheating on those Guitars if I played another, lol! Enjoyed your upload, have a great weekend!!! I imagine that it's a bit different fingering chords because of the extra strings?

    • @Vesper_Songs
      @Vesper_Songs  2 года назад +2

      Hi Darren, thanks for the kind comments! As for the chords, you use the same chord shapes but it does feel a little different because you are pressing down twice as many strings. It's a little harder on your fingers.

    Just bought one. My 12 string Ovation was 45 years old. Love it cause it doesn't have the " salad bowl" back. Thinner neck & lighter too ..TIP. Be sure to hold the tuner button down for at least 5 seconds to turn it off or it will stay on & drain the battery. Cheers.

      Good for you! It's never too late to learn something new. I would recommend learning on a 6 string first and once you are comfortable with the basics, get a 12. A 12 string is a little harder to play and harder on your hands and fingers. Just a tip!

    I've had an Adamas deep contour 12 string for over 30 years. It is my favorite guitar. I bought it for the 'unplugged' full acoustic sound and have never bothered to plug it in. The guitar she was playing was obviously a mid-depth bowl from the sound and lacks the lower frequency sound that is typical to many 12 string guitars before she showed the guitar from the side view. I had the opportunity to purchase the 6 string version at the same time, but couldn't afford both. I recently ordered the 6 sting version and am anxiously awaiting its' arrival.

    Thank you so much for this wonderfully done video review.
    I currently own a Taylor 362ce and, at standard tuning, barre chords are a nightmare to fret cleanly if not impossible for me especially between Frets 1 - 5.
    I have thus dropped the tuning 1 full step and Capo Fret 2 to compensate with less string tension. The problem with this on a short scale length guitar is that songs that normally capo higher frets means I have to always add 2 additional frets making it nearly impossible to use.
    My question with this Ovation:
    How difficult is it to fret barre chords cleanly on frets 1-3 at A440 (standard tuning)?
    I am hoping a 12 string “electric” guitar is significantly easier to cleanly fret than a 12 string acoustic such as what I have (although technically the 362ce is an acoustic-electric).
    Thank you so much for your kindness in reviewing this very pretty Ovation.
    🎸😊

      Hi John, thanks for your kind comment. I am glad you found my video helpful. In answer to your question, it is a bit difficult to fret barre chords, especially at the lower frets. I wonder if there is any 12-string that is easy in this regard?

      @JS45678 Год назад +1

      @@Vesper_Songs Thank You for your prompt reply and I sincerely appreciate your review and follow up.
      I agree, I doubt there are any 12 string guitars at standard tuning that are “easy” to fret barre chords especially down low. I only learned barres long ago so those are all I really use in my worship band but they are so challenging for me on my 362ce.
      You are a fantastic guitar player and my sincere gratitude and appreciation for your kindness in reply. 🙏🙂🎸

      Well, it really is a subjective thing. What sounds great to one person may sound average to another. I think this guitar sounds good unplugged but much better through an amp. @@Vesper_Songs I had some time last weekend to play the Ovation Elite 12 string, and I have to say I'm in love with it. It sounds beautiful, full and rich. The neck is very comfortable and easy to play. It was way out of tune when I took it out of the box(so much for waiting), so it took awhile to tune it. I finally wound up using my Snark tuner...easy peasy. You were absolutely on point about how difficult it is to turn the tuners. I'm going to try using the gizmo I use when changing strings, hopefully that works. Other than that...she's a keeper.

      Wonderful to hear you love it! Yay! What color finish did you get? I had a hard time choosing as they are all beautiful. I will check out your music this weekend...I'm on the road today but will give a listen very soon...thanks for letting me know about it!

      @@Vesper_Songs I bought the black finish version. Actually that was the only option they had, but I love the look of it, and it matches the black finish on my Takamine. I just checked on Sweetwater and they're on backorder again, so it's a good thing I jumped on it when I did. I wound up getting the Gator Hardcase with it as well. Be safe out there on the road.

      @@Vesper_Songs it’s an aluminum channel with truss Rod inside that super reinforces the neck. Not sure how f ovation is still using them. How is the playability?

      I love the way it sounds and it also records great. I have a few videos that feature this guitar...if you read the info in the description box of this video it lists the videos. It's a little hard to play barre chords, but that may be true of all 12-strings?

    How loud is this guitar when it’s not plugged in?

    • @Vesper_Songs
      @Vesper_Songs  2 года назад

      I'd say pretty loud. I think it sounds better amplified, though.

      @@Vesper_Songs Thanks for the reply. Would you say its as loud as guitars with regular sound holes when played acoustically?

    • @Vesper_Songs
      @Vesper_Songs  2 года назад

      I'd say yes. Since it's a 12 string that alone boosts the volume. If you check out my video for Gallows Pole you can hear it unplugged. I didn't use an amp on that video. I recorded it unplugged directly into my mic

    Pickups on acoustic guitars sound terrible. It defeats the purpose of an "Acoustic" guitar.

      They don't have to be used, but nice to have that option.
