  • In this video I took on the challenge of restoring an old Tecalemit Grease Gun. I found this at a local boot sale for only £1.
I was greatly unaware of how many parts a “simple” grease gun would have. If I counted correctly the answer is 47.
I thoroughly enjoyed this Restoration, the only downside was not having a tool to sand deep into corners on the brass parts.
My initial plan was to keep the body plain, however I decided in the last minute to clear coat in order to prevent rust reappearing. I’m aware that the clear coat may peel in the future with constant use.
Thank you for taking time to watch this video.

I well remember the old Tecalamit grease guns from my aircraft servicing days. A pain to refill and prime even with the new fangled grease cartridges. The ones we used never looked like this though!

Looking good. Looks like the rubber part of the hose is gone. Still works so that’s great

Just the tip was a bit worn, but that part is pressed against the metal. Not necessary to change.

Out of all the numerous restoration videos I have watched. This one here is the best. I like the fact he uses common tools. Something mst home owners have.
    Great job.

Using a crescent wrench is not a good thing. It can slip and mess up bolts, especially when it’s covered in grease. Use the proper size wrench.

Why not use a muric acid to clean? Just don't leave tools in that stuff for very long. I tried it with a few old tools of grandpa's.

Nice little video! Tecalemit would have been at the top end of grease guns. Cheaper makes would not have had so many user accessible parts, rivetted pins, sealed nipple connectors, that sort of thing.
