There are two different content-aware fill tools in Photoshop. One is nearly fully automatic, while the other offers more options. In this tutorial, I explain both. Good summary thanks Anthony! One other tip, having made your selection, if you right click it will pull up a menu by the pointer where you can choose content aware fill without going to the toolbar at the top.
Thank you. I always needed to know what to do when the simplistic way didn't work, but never had the time at that moment. So I'm glad I have the information now. Thank you!
Great explanation Anthony. I rarely need Photoshop so I never retain the information. However, whenever I need to learn or refresh my memory on PS or LrC stuff, you’re my first stop. Your delivery is calm and relaxed, you don’t assume that i have a working knowledge of the software, so you cover the small details. Thank you.
Nicely done Anthony. Once again excellent use of practical examples to 'show' the points you are teaching. Case in point the tip regarding being too precise with the subject selection. Nice demo at the end to underscore the point!
I only use Photoshop for focus stacking so thank you for your tuition. As a test for my ability, I have just used this method to remove a person from a photograph I took. I used the non destructive number 2 method - thanks Anthony, great content.
This video Really cleared the use of content aware up for me, as usual top tuition. I tried the "edit-content aware fill" tool on one of my photographs with an annoying small bush at the front of the image that i have tried and failed to remove with the clone tool and found this worked extremely well. Thank you.
Thanks for a great explanation, this will help with some trouble I was having trying to remove things by using the clone stamp tool and making a mess of things.
Thanks! I've been using Content Aware Fill for a while and have always been disappointed at the results. I try to refine it doing a better selection to no avail. No I know to do a crummy job on the selection. Better results and easier to do. Who'd a thunk it?
I use the lasso or marquee tools and click the right mouse button. I never copy the image before hand because if it doesn't work you can undo in edit. I always save my edits under a different name so my original or stages are still preserved. Content aware isn't great for larger objects to be removed but thanks for the clone idea, I've never really tough thought of that 👍
Nice explanation of the different types of content aware fill. I had no idea there were two versions. I do have a question though. Didn't there use to be a place where you could select how many pixels were on either side of your selection in order to have a smoother transition ? Or am I thinking of a different process?
Thanks Anthony. This is something that terrifies me because I can't seem to manage it. My question is how would you remove the pedestal if it were up against but behind the leg of the statue itself so that they appeared to touch?
I love your videos! Have you done a tutorial about the clone stamp in PS? Every time I use it for something sort of big (like a stick across a deer's back), it always seems a bit smudged. I think it's the overlapping feather from the softness? I need your help! :)
It did a sample stamp and just pasted over the area you wanted to hide. The grass stalk was part of the copy. You could do the same manually and smudge the edges. Why is this considered AI???
This is pretty cool, but doesn't using it make your art ai generated? We have drawn that line in the sand now, using this should be attacked every bit as much as generated art shouldn't it?
Clickbait alert!! I searched for "content aware fill". I liked this video, but only clicked because of the pretty girl in the thumbnail. Now I am disappointed and will not be watching any other videos by this channel. There is no girl in the video. I call that click bait! Funny thing is, without the girl in the thumbnail, I would have watched this anyway. Now I wont. You have been warned people.

Will do Anthony, thank you for the tutorials as always very informative, do you have a tutorial on how to install the Presets?
You are by far my favorite channel for Photoshop tutorial. So clear, concise, quick and easy to understand.
Good summary thanks Anthony! One other tip, having made your selection, if you right click it will pull up a menu by the pointer where you can choose content aware fill without going to the toolbar at the top.
Your Photoshop tutorials are so logical and thoughtful. Thank you
Good tutorial! I appreciate your quiet and direct to the point explanations. No hype or unnecessary comments. Thanks 🙏!
Thanks Anthony. For the selection I always use the Polygonal Lasso, it seems the fill blends in better.
Thank you. I always needed to know what to do when the simplistic way didn't work, but never had the time at that moment. So I'm glad I have the information now. Thank you!

Excellent tutorial! Thank you very much for sharing it. I have been following your tutorials for a long time.

Thank you. Much easier to follow than with the Adobe tutorials.
Magnificent explanation..this is what I'm looking for, details by details..I will rate you 10/10
There are so many ways to do this other then using the content aware tool. That's the beauty of photoshop. The many tools.
This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much!! Excellent tutorial!
That's very helpful, life bless you!
Thanks!
Thank you Fred!
Thanks for a great explanation, this will help with some trouble I was having trying to remove things by using the clone stamp tool and making a mess of things.
Great video, I don’t use PS often, your explanations are really helpful.
Learning this by experiment, I’ve found the tool to be beyond handy! Thanks for explaining it in a more structured way.
Another great lesson. Thanks!!
Great Explanation Anthony. Appreciate this video.
Excellent video Anthony. I've struggled with this tool. I like your second approach and will try it soon. Many thanks!
I love your tutorials!!!!!

Exactly the video I needed! So well done, thank you!
Very nice, I like your channel, you explain well and have a great voice👌

yes, make your brush not have a feather to fix smudging
Awesome 😃
His video touches small thing that we suffer to do.. but it is always 150% conducive..
It did a sample stamp and just pasted over the area you wanted to hide. The grass stalk was part of the copy. You could do the same manually and smudge the edges. Why is this considered AI???
My Photoshop is the newest, but Content Aware isn't available. Why?
When I use the subtract brush to remove a selected area nothing happens. The add brush works fine. Anybody any idea what I’m doing wrong. Thanks
Don't use an exact selection, why not use a magnetic lasso + 10% edging?
where a have to work on.
for the phragmites
Someone please help me create a photoshop design for a schools project 😢😢😢 please please can someone help me
This is pretty cool, but doesn't using it make your art ai generated? We have drawn that line in the sand now, using this should be attacked every bit as much as generated art shouldn't it?
Good instructions, I just want to know why he used a girl on the thumb nail
a1

lasso. you always mispronounce this word. The proper place to put the accent is on the first syllable not the second syllable.
Thanks!
Thank you Stewart!
Thanks for the video.
Thanks!
