Aggie here, great show as always. Want to note something about Bateman's tenure at North Carolina though. He was screwed over by Mack Brown with the way that was all handled. Bateman was the Co-DC there, and the other Co-DC (I forget who it was) had COMPLETELY different philosophies on defense. Mack was trying to build a recruiting monster, and he did that at the expense of hiring people who could agree on defense. They ended up trying to run a weird mix of schemes that completely failed.
I'd still rather see Elko calling the plays, but I think even if Elko isn't calling the plays, it's going to be an Elko-style defense. As I've said before, biggest worry is far and away the O-line for us; even our secondary could be a strength with how our transfers look there. Gig'em!

How do you put Bama at #4? DeBoer isn’t the OC. For sake of argument if you consider DeBoer as OC what has Womack done as a DC? Bama ahead of UGA, A&M, LSU and Missouri is BS. Stop playing politics and be honest.

@@dcm46uga96 Fellow UGA fan here. I guess you don't like consistent top 5 offenses. You must have hated the highest scoring season in UGA history. That is what Bobo has done at UGA as OC. I mean, what is not to like about Bobo? When he has talent, he gets it done at the HIGHEST level.

Cousin Mike…I’m a Sooner Homer, not afraid to admit it…go watch the last 5 minutes of the 2023 Kansas game and Ok State game. Yes, Lebby was great except most of the time. But needing a 1st down to remain undefeated the offense failed 3 times against Kansas and a repeat the next week at OSU for a chance at the Big 12 Championship and a playoff spot.
Kansas is an underrated program right now, with a great head coach. Everyone knows the same is true about OkSt and Gundy, except he’s been doing it for 20 years already - his proof is already in the pudding.
You got stymied by two really, really good head coaches.

I graduated from Pittsburg State University in Kansas. I’m a Mizzou fan but I think the Tim Beck hire at Vanderbilt was a home run. The guy is a football junky and has a long history of winning football.
I'm a little surprised about Texas.. but after checking the career numbers.. hard to disagree.. but the top 3 are pretty close..
If Sark is an offensive genius for averaging 35 points per game in the Big 12 for the last two seasons what does that make Collin Klein by averaging 36 points per game vs the same?
And a closer look will tell you that Sark did it with 8 future draft picks including 5 star QB while Klein's 2023 offense only had one player rated over a 3 Star! One coach is cooking it with prime steak and the other one makes an equal meal out of Spam? Whose the better chef here?

Ole Miss fan here. I wish you had gone with the top ten instead of ranking all the teams. I would feel stricken to be a fan of a team whose OC-DC combo you ranked in the bottom six.

Big fan of the show and what you and Cousin Shane do. As a Gamecock fan, I wanted to offer some pushback against a couple of points made about OC Dowell Loggains.
1) He had next to nothing to work with last season (one of the worst if not the worst o-line in the league that was ravaged by injuries, no solid RB depth beyond Mario Anderson Jr., and only one reliable receiver in Xavier Legette | at least he had Spencer Rattler at QB). You give that deck of cards to any offensive play-caller in college football, and I doubt few could've done better than him. Ranking him near the bottom would've been fair, but dead last is a bit ridiculous.
2) This scoring efficiency metric you bring up is interesting. I'm curious to know if that measurement includes touchdowns of all types (including defensive and special teams), and if it takes into account field positioning off forced turnovers. If it does include the former AND doesn't include the latter criteria I just mentioned, that 2022 scoring efficiency ranking is badly skewed and shouldn't be used as a comparison point between Loggains and Satterfield, cause Carolina fans who watched Marcus Satterfield for that whole season would swear up and down there's no way he was one of the 25 most efficient play-callers in the sport.
Excellent, and fair points. Scoring efficiency does NOT take into account special teams and defense scores when discussing the offensive figure.

Not bad. A bit inconsistent giving head coaches credit over the coordinator in some instances but not others.
Some head coaches call plays, while others do not.
Texas always steps up to the big games at home. They were a defensive stop away from knocking off 2019 LSU

Why do they hold Kirby against Schumann but then suck off Kiffin, Heuple, and Sarkisian. They are head coaches. They never even mentioned the OC at Tennessee, or Ole Miss. Consistency, that is all I ask for.

Mizzou at 12 is too low. I expect Mizzou to be good on both sides of the ball. But Batoon is a big unknown, OC Kirby Moore is one of the Top 5 OC's in the SEC.
You disagree but used the same logic we did. How do you rank them if one is #5 and one is arguably #14-#16?

And you wanna tell me that Bobby Petrino is a better playcaller as Jeff Lebby ? How did Petrino in the past 10 years ... did he win anything ?
Bobby Petrino has a better track record than Lebby, been doing it for a hell of a lot longer and had success everywhere. Lebby has really only had two years of calling plays at Oklahoma, yes they were good, but Petrino has been doing it for 2 decades

LMAO, He was low middle on pay in the SEC. Oklahoma, there's only ONE! We're going to say hello to the SEC soon. Coach V had opportunities to be HC at many schools, turned them all down. Until home called, he jumped on the jet.
