Absolutely. Ive lived in the area for over 30 years now and although saltwater fishing steals the show around here, there’s always good bass fishing around too. We are in Florida after all.
Interesting. Did you call the sandestin resort? They allow fishing and even have catch and release only signs in their ponds. I was just there the other day!
For sure. There are two gates into Sandestin one on the north side of the road and one on the south side. Go to the north side and tell the gate guard that you’re going to the Baytowne wharf or sunset bay cafe. From there you can park somewhere and walk out to the ponds. Just check it out on google maps so you can get an idea of where all the lakes are. If you go out on the golf course just do so in the evening cuz they’ll kick you off the course. It’s summer and the water is hot right now so make sure to fish slow. I was out there about 2 weeks ago and caught five bass all on a 3.5 inch swim bait on an underspin jighead reeled in real slow.
I will be in Destin soon and can't wait. Pretty much at Baytowne Wharf. Just picked up out of state fishing license and hoping the boy and I can get some fishing in between the other attractions. Thanks for the video and hopefully I can get some fishing around that area instead of having to drive too far.
Sweet. Enjoy your trip. There’s all kinds of ponds around the resort and since there’s been a lot of rain lately, the water level is up which brings the fish up shallow. I’ve had success lately with a black and blue chatter bait and a 3.5 inch swim bait on an underspin.
@@thebutlerfamilyadventures Thanks for the tips. I went to the store earlier and grabbed a bunch of black and blue themed worms chatterbaits; weedless jigs; frogs; swim baits etc. I should still have some underspin but will check out Cabeals in Destin just the same.
Correct. If you just let them know you’re going to the Baytowne Wharf (which is a shopping and dining area open to the public) they will let you on the resort and you’re good to go.
I lived in Homestead. My dad was stationed at Homestead AFB so I fished all over south Florida. There are great largemouth and peacock bass in every canal and lake in the area.
Thank you for posting this. One of the few videos about largemouth fishing this area. I will be staying at Seascape Resort in June. Can you provide any input on other lakes on the resort property/golf course that are worth fishing? Any advice is appreciated!!
Sure thing. Seascape has a few ponds but most of them bump up against the golf course. You can be out there but probably wait to the afternoon or evening to have no one in your way. Seascape ponds have a lot of lily pads so be sure to have a top water frog or a good ol fashioned Texas rigged worm or lizard in Junebug color. Definitely get to the sandestin resort if you can. Huge bass in a lot of their ponds. Go in the north gate and tell them you’re going to sunset bay cafe and they will give you a parking pass. You’ll pass by a bunch of lakes along the road that are easily accessible. I have luck with chatterbaits, simple swimbaits on an underspin, or a top water walking bait or whopper plopper style bait. Most of the ponds have a lot of algae on the bottom so you can fish a senko style worm weightless to stay out of that. Check google earth and you’ll be able to see all the ponds you can get to.
Yeah, I think technically you are only supposed to fish Stewart and Golden Pond. I'm used to doing a lot of night fishing, stealth might be the word of the day. Sounds like Sandestin would be worth booking just for the fishing rights. Thanks again!!@@thebutlerfamilyadventures
No way man that’s no way to handle fish. I put all these back that I catch so the next person can enjoy a nice day fishing. Thanks for watching by the way. 👍🏼
You may be thinking of Stewart lake right at the seascape resort. This isn’t there. This video was shot at the Sandestin resort. If you look it up on Google earth, you’ll be able to see all of the lakes there.
Which of the resort’s ponds have you had the most success? I’ve been able to catch some nice ones in the Horseshoe Lake on the beachside. Would like some advice/direction for which other ponds to hit up. Thanks
@@joechilders150 when I go to the north side, I usually park at the marina and walk across the street. The ponds on the number 7,8,9 holes of the Baytowne course are excellent. Most of the large fish in the video were caught there. Also if you park by the links golf course right out where you can see the bay, there’s a big lake there that has huge fish. It gets pressured a lot so they are difficult to catch and the water is super clear usually, but they are in there.
Are these ponds public ? If not do you know of any places that are public I’ll be there next week and would love to do some bass fishing I’m coming in from Ohio
These ponds are on the Sandestin resort but anyone can access the resort. They have a dining venue called Baytowne Wharf so if you go there and park you can get out and walk around to the ponds. They are catch and release only. They also have a pier you can fish from in the bay which is brackish water.
Awesome stuff man!! Going to try to step away from the fam while i'm down there :P
Always gotta save some time for fishing.
Thanks for the great fishing tips on Bass. A very beautiful place!
Absolutely. The resort where I was fishing is a great place to stay and there are lots of amenities right there.
Always wanted to visit Destin. It’s definitely on my bucket list. So many great angling opportunities in FL.
Absolutely. Ive lived in the area for over 30 years now and although saltwater fishing steals the show around here, there’s always good bass fishing around too. We are in Florida after all.
Nice video man; is there any place in Destin to catch peacock bass?
Man I wish. There are no peacock bass this far north in Florida. I’ve fished ponds around this area for 30 years and have never seen one.
I just called and they said they don’t allow fishing in freshwater ponds
Interesting. Did you call the sandestin resort? They allow fishing and even have catch and release only signs in their ponds. I was just there the other day!
@@thebutlerfamilyadventures yes sand destin! It’s crazy. I was planning a video myself

Sand Destin Resort's website says, "Fishing is available for all Resort Guests". is there any public access?

It's good to see you're not picking the fish up by the gills, unlike some of the other so called fishing experts on you tube.

Can I get kicked out of there for fishing or do they not say anything for being there
fishing is allowed. It’s just catch and release.
So I just tried going there and wasn’t able to fish
