I used to bring my car to Panama City for car shows when I was a teenager. The emerald coast cruzin show is a good one.

We graduated from Niceville so we may be partial. 😉

The beach in this area is amazing and there’s plenty of wildlife, especially dolphins swimming the shore.

@@Okfishmas54 awesome. If that fish was king with a yellow tail it may have been a jack crevalle. Look up a picture of them and see if that was it. You’re right about the fleas. I usually have pretty good luck with them.

@@thebutlerfamilyadventures ended up being one of those. It had those 2 pointy spikes on the belly. I uavent had any luck since then. Locals say it's because the hurricane. Any public fresh water ponds around destin that you recommend?

@@Okfishmas54give the Sandestin resort a try. They have several ponds that have good sized bass in them. Just tell them at the gate that you’re going to Baytowne wharf and they will give you a parking pass. Maybe check it out on google earth so you can see where the ponds are first.

@@HotRodDave just google the sandestin resort when you get into town. When you go there , they have a gate guard but tell them you are going to the Baytowne wharf. It’s a dining and shopping district on the resort people are allowed to go to even if not staying there. They will give you a parking pass and then you can park and walk out to some ponds. Just check it out on google earth first so you can see what ponds you might want to fish. You saw from the video that there are some huge bass in there.

Oh you’re going to have so much fun. The area is so beautiful especially that time of year. Make sure you get into the national park at least once for a drive or a short walk on one of the trails. The views are amazing. Spending time with family at a cabin will bring so much peace and healing for you.

Interesting. Did you call the sandestin resort? They allow fishing and even have catch and release only signs in their ponds. I was just there the other day!

I’ve stayed at the majestic Sun in the seascape resort. It’s so nice to be right across from the beach.

There are definitely some good fish around. The water is so hot right now so it may be difficult to get the big ones to bite. Early morning with topwater has worked for me recently.

Always gotta save some time for fishing.

I know they have some pickleball courts inside of the Sandestin resort. There are also some in Niceville which is right across the midbay bridge from Destin.

Live in Niceville as well for the past 32 years. Seen crab island change quite a bit. It does get pretty dingy at times but luckily there are the strong currents of the pass to “flush” it out.

Man I wish. There are no peacock bass this far north in Florida. I’ve fished ponds around this area for 30 years and have never seen one.

Most are around 300-400 for 4 hours. If you go up to 8 hours, you’re looking at 700-800 especially for the ones with double slides. You can get smaller pontoons around the area if you don’t have a large family or you can even join one of the large party boats that go out to crab island for a much cheaper price.

Actually no. We didn’t get genie plus any of the days we were there and was still able to do pretty much every attraction. The wait times were also inflated because we only waited about half of what was posted at each attraction.

We do love visiting there although it was so hot. May not go in the middle of the summer again. 😂

So I have seen gators in lakes just like that one along the coast but not in that particular one. But I’m sure they’re there.

Correct. If you just let them know you’re going to the Baytowne Wharf (which is a shopping and dining area open to the public) they will let you on the resort and you’re good to go.

For sure. There are two gates into Sandestin one on the north side of the road and one on the south side. Go to the north side and tell the gate guard that you’re going to the Baytowne wharf or sunset bay cafe. From there you can park somewhere and walk out to the ponds. Just check it out on google maps so you can get an idea of where all the lakes are. If you go out on the golf course just do so in the evening cuz they’ll kick you off the course. It’s summer and the water is hot right now so make sure to fish slow. I was out there about 2 weeks ago and caught five bass all on a 3.5 inch swim bait on an underspin jighead reeled in real slow.

I actually just went out this morning and caught 4 keeper pompano myself. They are delicious but hard to come by in the summer when the water warms up.

Actually my daughter and I just did that recently. They take you by the jetties and then several of the deckhands get in the water with just to keep everyone from getting too deep. I would say it’s plenty safe and they would get you out of the water quickly if any sharks were sighted.

@@omaralejandro2996 they do fireworks several places around here. One is at the Baytowne wharf at the sandestin resort. They also do a great show on the Destin harbor at harborwalk village right where all of the fishing boats are parked.

@@omaralejandro2996 doublefunwatersports.com is where we’ve rented before. They have the double slide pontoons. We even had one break down on us not too long after leaving the dock one time and they brought and switched us over to a replacement boat within 15 minutes. Most of the companies in Destin all charge about the same price. Islandwatersports is also another good one in the area.

Awesome. Summer fishing is tough but if you get out early you can usually get on some Spanish mackerel, bluefish, or jacks. They are all fun to fight.

we had a great time as usual.
