Even if they were all scripted, they would've made for an amazing addition, specially with the power out! ^_^ Here's hoping they one day Remake Fusion and improve on the SA-X mechanic. I think they did a solid job with the EMMIs in Dread, but I still feel the SA-X has more potential to bring about a more intimidating, terrifying atmosphere. _(they would have to nail the OST, though, but I believe they can pull it off)_

Imagine going for the 100% run where you try and collect all the item tanks and you are in this this one room which has a really annoying puzzle and you've been failing for the past 10 minutes, you are THIS close to giving up and thinking that the situation could not get any worse when all of a sudden the door behind you explodes when you were trying to concentrate of making a plan to got at it one last time, then you hear those iconic footsteps. Now you have a reason not to dawdle in a room for too long and to not try to go for the 100%. The SA-X rushes you, freezes you in place and then one shots you; forcing you to go back to your checkpoint. When you go back to the room you were just in previously at you find that the door has been sealed off due to the SA-X's meddling. You can no longer go back to get that item unless you make a new save file.
The footsteps sound almost like someone tapping on someone. With the music and heartbeat, it gives the feeling of someone insane. It's about as creepy as the context in the games.
imagine being samus in those scenarios just the horror of will it find me will it not or if it sees you and just the nothingness behind those cold lifeless eyes
A chilling thought: Samus never defeated an SA-X if not indirectly. Of the two that die during the game, one gets blown up when the Metroid cloning lab is jettisoned and destroyed, and the other is TEMPORARILY stopped by Samus and only killed by an Omega Metroid. You know, the ultimate form of an organism bioengineered with the precise purpose to annihilate X parasites. It took THAT to kill SA-X for good.
@@Tacoguy777 I was referring to a way the SA-X could escape. Since Shinesparks don't damage Samus anymore in Fusion and its strongly implied SA-X has that among other abilities.
This is the scariest part of Fusion. When it straight up jumpscares you with the blank eyed face, and you realise this thing is in the station stalking you. I wish the SA-X appeared a bit more (i think you have to hide from it only 2 times, then run from it and then you fight it) though.
There's the first encounter in sector 2 where you hide from it. Then you hide from it in Sector 6 on your way to the Data Room. Then you hide from it on your second visit to Sector 5. Then there's the bit where you run from it in the overgrown Sector 2. Then the brief encounter in the Restricted Lab. And then the final battle.
Is it just me? or do the steps sort of like a clock ticking? Cause if so... then i wonder how many people got Chronophobia (The fear of Time) from them? Imagine that each footstep of the SA-X is the ticking of a clock that is counting down until she find her next prey....which is YOU! (Huh, I guess Samus now knows what Captain Hook feels like when ever the Crocodile is near by....)

When I first played Metroid fusion I loved it to death but once the SA-X made it's appearance it gave birth to my PTSD for tense and scary video games, can you imagine yourself staying in school in the dead of night and hearing these footsteps in the hallways. What would your reaction be? Mine would be "Time to go" while nervously race walking.
My friend got scared when I put this theme on his pc when he gone to toilet and he left his Minecraft on fullscreen and he got scared that sa x was inside his big house with many corridors and rooms xD
Me, a new Metroid fan who's both very good at putting herself in the protagonist's shoes and a freaking coward, a year ago: well, the EMMI's were terrifying but imagine a game where you have an EMMI-like enemy but you don't exactly know when and how you're going to encounter it. Me now, playing Fusion for the first time: never would I think that I would shit my pants for a freaking bunch of orange pixels.
Nightmare: it is called like that because its slug face gives nightmares SA-X: that if it causes extreme nightmares, those totally white eyes, its aggressive character and the feeling that it is following you, and if you do not have the plasma beam and it sees you better, have Samus run for his life because or else we will see him die front of us. (like if the SA-X scares you) I hope the SA-X won't use tas because or else it will pursue Samus until his legs no longer respond to him due to fatigue.

The only thing missing is that ear-piercing sound of the Ice Beam firing at the very beginning.
Now THIS is some horror! The soundtrack itself with the heartbeat and then the SA-X's footsteps to add to the atmosphere... Truly breathtaking!

Technically Samus did beat the 2nd SA-X because you could almost absorb its X Parasite when you destroyed all 3 of its Forms tho it escaped.
Also keep in mind, any of the other 7+ SA-X's on board could've pulled something out of their asses to escape...

This game needs a remake akin to Mercury Steams Metroid 2 remake. It's a short game and heavily under appreciated.
