It's Celebration Time. Cyberlink has released the new 2025 PowerDirector 365 version. What's new, what's good, what's bad, and what's strange?
I am really upset with Cyberlink. I'm not sure when it was removed, but they have removed one of my favorite features, the Title Reveal Mask. I know the same result can be obtained using the new masking features, but it was so much easier and faster using the title reveal mask. It was located at the bottom of the "Properties" panel in the advanced title editor. Why would they do that?
Why? Because apparently they think they can. Te masking feature has gone through some revisions lately and it looks like there will more tweaking in the future.
I'm assuming you've found it by now. Not much has really changed as far as features go but its the constant redesign of the user interface and menus that drive people crazy.
All you need to do is to select the image or video, then click on Edit. Then select the Mask option at the top. Then click on Advanced. But you are not quite there yet. Click on the Custom option at the top instead of the Preset options.
In the Custom menu, the same old choices from before still appear there such as brush, polygon, text, and image.
Once the Text mask tool is chosen, a new window opens that allows you to apply whatever text formatting you wish including re-positioning the text, rotation, and opacity.

An unexpected addition at the end with a full rendition of the Cheers TV theme. Was this intentional?
Why not? I was able to sneak in about 5 seconds earlier in the video which snuck by the RUclips copyright police. So, what the heck. I threw in the entire song at the end of the real video. All I got was a copyright notice but the copyright holder allows me to keep the song in my video. The only downside is that he/she/they/them/it collect the monetization from RUclips. I've never been in this for the money.

Instructional text blue balloons now appear. I also added a 👍, but it didn't show up on the screen at first. I had to refresh the page to get the like number to appear here on YT..
OK, you are going to have to rephrase your comment cuz I must be pretty dense today and I'm not following it.
OK, at first I was puzzled by what you meant about the "instructional text blue balloons now appear" so I went back to watch my own video. Then I got to the part where Cyberlink shows those blue balloons around certain features the first time you access it. Aha, that's what he is talking about. I've seen those for several years now, every time Cyberlink comes out with their new version for the year. When I saw them again on this latest update, I was trying to figure out if there was a way to turn them off. There probably is but then I decided to make it a part of the video because every once in a while, any one of us might come across one of these blue balloons and say "Oh, I didn't know that" which is exactly what I included in the video.

hey!!!! Have you found the "export range" function yet? My buttons on the playhead disappeared!! 😪
Go to anywhere on the timeline and press the X Key. You can then select whatever export range you require.
@limitlesswave has it correct. The X key will bring up the export range function. Or you can right click on the video and choose "Select Export Range". By default the entire clip will be selected but at the far left and right of the selection are the familiar yellow colored flags to move and change the range. By the way, those yellow flags can be moved over onto adjacent video clips if needed. If you change your mind, there is an "X" at the far right side of the export range which will close the function and take you back to the normal editing mode.

I can't even update my 365 subscription anymore , after downloading it gets stuck at 0% installation . Do you have any clue why this is so ?
Make sure you have PowerDirector closed when downloading and updating. I know the updating progress number is deceiving in that it may seem stuck for quite a while but then will suddenly jump up to 60% or more. Maybe give it a lot more time in case your system has slow write speeds to the storage drive. If none of that works, I can only suggest that you contact Cyberlink support.
I forgot to add one thing. When you find out the solution, make sure to come back here and let us all know. We'd like to know about it just in case somebody else ever runs into the same situation.
