  • Dominic Grieve KC speaks as the first proposition on the motion at 8:00pm in the Debating Chamber on Thursday 16th May 2024.
For the last decade, our relationship with Russia has been central to foreign policy discourse. With the invasion of Ukraine and wars in Georgia and Chechnya before that, this debate asks whether the last thirty years of Western-Russian relations have been an inevitable path to their current dire state. Could this relationship have been different had Western governments responded more forcefully to early expansionism or by engaging more openly with Russia before its abhorrent military actions?

The order of this playlist is insane. They should be listed in the order the speeches were given. Or at the very least, let the video titles reflect that order so that a listener can watch them in a rational order.

Cyprus has fallen victim to having part of its territory annexed by Britain, known as the "British Sovereign Bases. It then compounded its crimes by participating in the Turkish invasion and ethnic cleansing. To this day, Britain continues its disgraceful support of Turkish demands. Recently, in a blatant show of bias, the British High Commissioner demanded that the Cyprus government make concessions to the Turkish occupiers, undermining Cypriot sovereignty and justice for displaced citizens and against the UN Resolutions.
