    When you put engine oil in the engine good idea to put some rags behind the engine to catch any overflow, the overflow will get hot and burn and smell the car up

    I have a 99 Toyota Camry 4 cylinder, is the differential fluid separate from the transmission fluid and should I check that fluid as well?

    • @conner5611

      Yes on the 4 cylinder its is separate from the transmission on the v6 it uses the same fluid as the transmission

    When checking Tran ..when it's cold should the fluid be between hot and cold ..or just on the cold marking ..?? And does it mean it's over filled if it's closer to the hot markings ..when check cold ???

    • @phomjachana
      @phomjachana 2 года назад

      My cold has always been too high, but what seems to be op temperature, it’s right on the top of the high. So idk how to ensure the car is really at operating temp. I’ve let the car idle for 15 minutes…

    • @phomjachana
      @phomjachana 2 года назад

      So I’m in same dilemma. I just recently got the car and my trans drain and refill I just drained what was in and replaced the same amount

    My comment and question are years late . But I have a '99 Camry ce made in Kentucky and it's a manual transmission, I don't see a dipstick for the transmission and the drain plug is on the transmission. Do you have a video for manual transmission in Camry's??!

    How do you check the differential fluid on this car?

    • @phomjachana
      @phomjachana 2 года назад

      Raise the vehicle, look at transmission fluid hex drain bolt. Look at behind it (towards rear of car) there is another drain bolt. That is for differential which has a separate housing from trans fluid.
      On the back vertical side is a 17mm socket to loosen the filler plug. The fluid should be level with the bottom edge of the fill hole. Pinky check.

    My 2000 Toyota Camry shows full on the oil stick on one side of the stick and shows no oil on the other side of the stick. It's always been like that. Does anyone know why?

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  7 лет назад

      +MICHAEL DAVIS Thank you for checking us out. The reason for this is one side of the dipstick could be scraping against the tube and causing nothing to be shown. Other than that we recommend visiting a Camry forum to obtain other owner's experiences. 1aauto.com

    Same for a 1999 Toyota Avalon ? Aren’t they just the same as avalons pretty much?

  • @andreacrane99

    General question if anyone can answer. The long silver piece right in the middle, with the hand that says don’t touch on it (next to the oil dipstick), what is that? Car recently started leaking fluid onto that, which caused it to start smoking a little.

  • @InuyashaMiles

    I checked my tranny fluid while the engine was warm but off. The fluid was splashed way over the full line notches. After letting it sit it seemed lower. Can a slight slant on the driveway be a cause to this reading?

    • @phomjachana
      @phomjachana 2 года назад +1

      Depends on the slant, but you should always be on level ground t check readings, I’ll drive to a spot in neighborhood, or in the garage, or a parking lot, (depends on what’s going on)
