Chris Cornell wrote like 8 different songs for this movie for fun after he saw a mock cassette that Jeff from PJ made for one of the deleted scenes in which the band breaks up after something went wrong and so cliff went solo
Stone, Jeff, and Eddie were so natural in this. They did great. I crack up at how Stone says "Hi, Janet" and she doesn't even acknowledge his existence. 😆
LOL, Vedder looked like he was about to break character and burst out laughing at the table! Love this movie, the soundtrack, the cast. One of my favorites of all time. You know, Chris Cornell has a cameo too!
I see my dad in this movie because when I was growing up he looked just like Matt Dillon. He was such a handsome guy and so funny. He left this world in the 90s not long after this movie came out. Thanks for the memory
This is one of my favourite movies of all time. Cast and music... Wow...also reminds me of my youth...all the dudes in my highschool looked like that. All girls looked a little bit grungy. There were so many live concerts at the weekends.
GAWD I LOVED this movie. I was in my teens and just KNEW I was gonna move out to Seattle or Portland and discover all this amazing new music and just LIVE. Yeah, NONE of that happened but I still adore this movie. Ima go watch it now.❤
SO true that there were a lot of bands like this in the 90's. Usually had a good guitarist, a solid drummer, and even someone good on bass. But the front man couldn't sing and was usually the front man because he had rich parents or an awesome place to practice or a good hookup or something.
Many could sing and were terrific bands. The 1990s were a turbulent time: it was difficult to get snagged by a label that could support your band without selling out to the "big tower wreckard" companies that would sell your music to McDonald's or Nike for peanuts and overplay. So, they chose integrity instead. *Salute!
This movie has aged well, although it's a bit hokey the film quality is good, image if Nirvana hadn't turned it down, we would have got a totally different inside perspective on Kurt
What are your top soundtrack songs? I’d go: 1. Would? 2.Drown 3.Nearly lost you 4.Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns At 18 before I was drafted to IDF in israel I made a trip to North America and stayed with my uncle in Toronto and visited relatives in San Francisco all on my own. Was heavily into grunge… I should have gone to Seattle from San Francisco … it was February 1993 I didn’t take advantage of that visit at all music wise :( I’m 46 and lamenting this shit in 2021
Birth Ritual was by far my favorite song with Drown a close second. This movie came out when I was in Jr High and I swore I was going to move to Seattle when I turned 18. Never made it. Such is life.
For me this movie is in my top 20 of all time. I have over 4k movies in my collection. that's how good I think this was. Also helps I was the same age, young in the early 90s and got to see all those bands for 10 - 20 bucks.
... I got used to it. And then, when I moved... I missed the noise. I missed those planes. Janet: Cliff, what are you talking about? Cliff: I don't know. We did, Cliff. We did.
This is look like the scenes where the characters in an anime have those short random moments of fun after having the most philosophical, challenging and retrospective episode.
You’re right! I tried putting that scene but RUclips wouldn’t let me due to copyright, so I though I would skip that one because they were only on the background. I just wanted to post this video showing the parts where the band has a cameo because some of them were missing on RUclips and thought someone would want to see them :)
@@lalooiu That’s alright :) I just really wanted to confirm that it was indeed Eddie and Jeff cause it was kinda blurry in the bg, and also thank you cause these scenes made me watch the whole film! And I could rewatch these ones to see PJ without needing to see the film again :D
I believe Stone was also there sitting in front of them at the counter. And you’re welcome :) I actually wanted to post all scenes with the grunge bands but I obviously couldn’t post a whole Alice in Chains perfomance lol

When this film came out, I thought they all sold out. I spent a lot of time in Seattle, and I saw a lot of the legendary bands when they were unknown and unsigned. Back then, getting involved in a movie, especially one about the music scene, would have been considered a sellout move. Today, I'm good with it! Still, a drummer? C'mon, man!
Woah. I was listening to an old Howard stern show where they mention Eddie in singles briefly and I thought about that great soundtrack for a min or 2. That is it. Now this is in my recommendations. Weird.
Anyone else notice Spoonman is playing when they hang up the poster? But 3 years before it was recorded

Other than the last scene where they're staring right into the camera. Even Eddie is clearly having to actually hold his laughter in a little bit.
She says “hi Stone” quietly first.
It seems like Eddie is just being himself while trying not to laugh at how hard Matt Dillon is trying to act "grunge" haha

Yea, hate to say it but, woof, the actor really sticks out in all these scenes. Director should’ve helped him out a bit.

90s Eddie Vedder was 🔥

i love that within this universe's lore, they all leave Cliff, recruit McCready and Abruzzeze, and form Pearl Jam while leaving Poncier in the dust 😂
Oh so that’s what the deleted scene was about xD
Biggest mistake was firing Dave. They never peaked again.
2:06 pure vedder voice
On the edge of cracking, so good.

I can't believe how young we all were!! RIP Taylor!
TIL that "Spoonman" was written in 1992 specifically for the Singles soundtrack, then released on "Superunknown" in 1994.
I can't believe I would never said this, but Eddie is very good, he's a natural
haha
supposedly he was into theater in a big way in high school and was a very talented actor. then he chose music and never looked back i guess.
He's probably a bit stoned! No pun intended!
He seemed a little nervous but with more practice he could be a good actor

You pretty much described Van Halen with David Lee Roth --- Dave's father was a rich doctor
Or, he had a driver's license and a reliable car 🤣
